Game 22 - San Diego Padres (12-9) at San Francisco Giants (9-13)

The Giants are victimized by the long ball in this one as the visiting San Diego Padres strike in the 4th inning with a splashdown solo HR from Joc Pederson, then two outs and a walk later a 2-run HR of the bat of Ryan Flaherty to center, which is immediately followed by a back to back solo shot HR to deep center from Matt Wieters to make it a 4-0 game after 4 innings of play.

Aaron Sanchez would grab his 3rd win of the season on a solid outing. His line 7.0 IP 7 H 2 R 1 ER 0 BB 5 K's. After the Giants cut the lead to 4-2 through 7 complete innings Joc Pederson hits an absolute bullet line drive homer to the opposite field for his 2nd HR of the day, giving the Padres a 3-run lead after 8 innings. Roberto Osuna grabs his 5th save in the 5-2 final.

"This is a big confidence boost for me. Hitting one into the cove tends to do that." -- Joc Pederson, San Diego Padres

The Padres enjoy an off day before ending the month of April with a 3 game series against the NL West leading LA Dodgers. Game 1 of the 3 game series has the Padres sending Brandon Finnegan (2-0, 1.38) to the mound to face the Dodgers Matt Moore (2-1, 3.48).

Game 23 - San Diego Padres (13-9) at Los Angeles Dodgers (15-8)

A scary moment in the first inning of this game as the the 2nd batter of the game for the Padres, Carlos Correa, smashes a line drive that unfortunately Dodger hurler Matt Moore cannot dodge striking him in the side of the head. The ball was hit so hard the Dodgers managed to get a force at 2nd base on the play while Moore lay motionless on the mound. A 20-minute delay occurs as the training staff assists Moore off the field to a warm ovation from the home crowd.

"Something like that makes you have that awful feeling in your stomach. Moorsey is a tough guy, he will be back." -- Dave Roberts, Los Angeles Dodgers Manager

Meanwhile the Padres get another great outing on the mound from Brandon Finnegan throwing his 2nd complete game of the year. The visiting Padres get him 2 runs in the 7th to break a 1-1 tie, and then follow up with 3 more runs in the 8th for the 6-1 win.

"It was a good day for me on the mound. But I know all of us are hoping that Matt Moore is ok after taking that shot. Just plain scary stuff. " -- Brandon Finnegan, San Diego Padres

Game 2 of the 3 game series is set to go Saturday afternoon and has the Padres sending Bartolo Colon (2-1, 2.98) to the mound to face the Dodgers Clay Buchholz (1-0, 3.14).

Game 24 - San Diego Padres (14-9) at Los Angeles Dodgers (15-9)

The Padres bullpen gets another night off as Bartolo Colon turns back the clock and delivers an absolute gem of a game. Despite giving up a run and in the first inning, the large man would settle down and keep the Dodgers off the board the rest of the way for the complete game 5-1 win. The Padres support Colon with 5 runs on 11 hits including a 2 for 4, 3 RBI night from Devon Travis. Every Padres managed a hit on the night including Colon who went 1 for 3 at the plate including a walk and a run scored.

"The big was dealing tonight. Like him his fastball is heavy." -- Kris Bryant, San Diego Padres

The Dodgers are hoping to start of May with a win and prevent the sweep by sending Jake Odorizzi (3-1, 3.22) to the mound while the visiting Padres will be looking for the road sweep with lefty Daniel Norris (1-3, 3.81).

Notes: The Dodgers have placed Matt Moore on the 15-day disabled list with a head contusion. The Los Angeles medical staff informed management that Moore is expected to be out 3 to 4 weeks.

Game 25 - San Diego Padres (15-9) at Los Angeles Dodgers (15-10)

San Diego's 4-game winning streak and attempt at a series sweep is halted by a fine pitching performance from Jake Odorizzi. The right-hander kept the Padres batters off balance all night long. Solo home runs off the bats of Ryan Zimmerman in the 2nd and Mookie Betts in the 4th would be all the offense LA needed.

Odorizzi would cruise into the 9th inning where his only mistake of the night was a 1-out HR to right for Jorge Soler that cut the lead to 2-1. Odorizzi's final line was 8.1 IP 7 H 1 R 1 ER 2 BB 6 K's improving his record to 4-1 on the season. Jeurys Familia came in to clean up the 9th getting the last two outs and nailing down his 10th save of the season and allowing the Dodgers to avoid being swept at home.

"Buster (Posey) called a great game for me tonight. It makes it easy just to concentrate on executing on what pitch is called." -- Jake Odorizzi, Los Angeles Dodgers

The Padres head home for a 7-game homestand starting off with with the NL West leading Colorado Rockies. Game 1 goes Monday night with a colossal pitching match-up featuring the Padres Adam Wainwright (3-2, 1.69) taking on the Rockies Jake Arrieta (2-0, 2.10).

Re: 2016 - San Diego Padres - Fantasy Draft Franchise

Game 26 - Colorado Rockies (16-9) at San Diego Padres (15-10)

The Rockies Jake Arrieta has an off night on the mound, issuing a season high 5 BB's with only 3 K's in 5 innings of work. The Padres take advantage of his wildness to touch him up for 5 runs on only 3 hits, and cruise to a 6-3 home win.

Meanwhile the Padres Adam Wainwright was forced to leave the game in the 4th inning complaining with forearm tightness. He is being evaluated by the training staff and is currently listed as day to day. Phil Coke came in and grabbed his first win of the season, his line 2.2 IP 1 H 0 R 0 ER 0 BB 3 K's. Chasen Bradford and Jason Grilli finishes the extended work for the bully and nailed down the 6-3 win.

"No real news on Wainwright at this minute. We have him scheduled for an MRI tomorrow. Hopefully we are just being cautious and it is nothing serious." -- Andy Greene, San Diego Padres Manager

Game 2 of the series goes Tuesday night with the Rockies sending Matt Harvey (2-1, 4.71) to face the Padres Aaron Sanchez (3-1, 2.27).

Re: 2016 - San Diego Padres - Fantasy Draft Franchise

Game 27 - Colorado Rockies (16-10) at San Diego Padres (16-10)

The Padres relied on the long-ball to put all 6-runs on the board in a 6-1 win over the visiting Rockies. San Diego centerfielder Joc Pederson led the way with a fantastic day at the plate finishing 3 for 3 with 2 HR's 4 RBI's and a walk. Pederson had been struggling at the plate early this season but appears to be coming out of the funk with 3 homers in the first two games of the homestand. Jorge Soler continued his hot hitting adding a 2-run of his own in the win.

Aaron Sanchez danced out of trouble all night long to improve his record to 4-1, his final line was 6.2 IP 9 H 1 R 1 ER 1 BB 9 K's. Meanwhile the Rockies Matt Harvey drops to 2-2 giving up all 6 runs on the day, his final line 4.0 IP 7 H 6 R 6 ER 2 BB 4 K's and raised his ERA to 5.78 on the year.

"I was scuffling most of April, but we made some subtle changes to my approach and the results speak for themselves." -- Joc Pederson, San Diego Padres

San Diego tries from the home sweep on "getaway" day (wednesday) with a midday 12:40 p.m. start with the Padres sending undefeated Brandon Finnegan (3-0, 1.29) to the mound to take on the Rockies Steven Matz (1-1, 3.10).

The Pittsburgh Pirates send pitchers Cole Hamels and Adam Liberatore to the Arizona Diamondbacks in exchange for centerfielder Byron Buxton.

Re: 2016 - San Diego Padres - Fantasy Draft Franchise

Game 28 - Colorado Rockies (16-11) at San Diego Padres (17-10)

San Diego manages their 2nd home sweep of the season with a 5-4 win over the visiting Colorado Rockies. The Rockies manage to get on the Board first in the top of the 2nd but in the home half the Padres strike right back. San Diego sends 8 men to the plate and score 4 runs on 2 singles, 2 walks and a hit batter. The red-hot Joc Pederson manages a 2-out 2-run single to give the Padres a 4-1 lead after 2 innings of play. The scuffling Kris Bryant would add an insurance run the bottom of the 5th smashing a 2-1 curveball into the 2nd deck of the Metal Company building.

The Rockies would claw back as the Padres Brandon Finnegan had to battle almost every inning in order to improve his record to 4-0 on the year. Colorado DH Joe Mauer cut the lead to 5-3 in the 6th off a mammoth 2-run HR to dead center. Finnegan's final line was 6.0 IP 8 H 3 R 3 ER 1 BB 3 K's. It would take 4 Padre relievers including a 1-2-3 ninth inning from Roberto Osuna to nail down the win and grab his 6th save with the 5-4 final.

"It's been a while since I went yard. I was beginning to forget how good it feels to connect like that." -- Kris Bryant, San Diego Padres

The New York Mets come in to town for a 4-game series. Game 1 has Bartolo Colon (2-2, 2.53) for the Padres taking on the Mets Danny Duffy (3-2, 2.78).
