Re: 2016 - San Diego Padres - Fantasy Draft Franchise

Game 37 - San Diego Padres (23-13) at Milwaukee Brewers (17-19)

San Diego's young prodigy Aaron Sanchez continues his great start to this season with another fantastic outing as the Padres cruise to a 5-1 win. Sanchez had hitters off-balance all night long, his final line 7.0 IP 4 H 1 R 1 ER 2 BB 11 K's, and improves his record to 6-1 while lowering his ERA to a lowly 1.75. It was tough night for the Brewers Max Scherzer who could get any run support as his final line was 7.0 IP 3 H 2 R 2 ER 4 BB 6 K's. His record drops to 3-3 on the year.

Run support was provided by Freddie Freeman with 2 RBIs, while Kris Bryant, Matt Wieters, and Jorge Soler all chipped in with RBI's. There were only a combined total of 2 extra base hits in the game provided by the Padres (Freeman, Bryant).

"This kid (Sanchez) has some nasty stuff. He's not afraid to throw any pitch on any count. I'm glad I don't have to face him." - Matt Wieters, San Diego Padres

Game 3 of the 4 game series goes late Saturday afternoon with San Diego's undefeated Brandon Finnegan (4-0, 1.66) taking the mound to take on the Brewers Garrett Richards (2-4, 3.95). The Brewers have now lost 6 in a row and are only 2-8 in their last 10 games.

Game 38 - San Diego Padres (24-13) at Milwaukee Brewers (17-20)

The Padres take advantage of a struggling Milwaukee club handing them their 7th straight loss in a decisive 7-3 road win. The Brewers managed to get on the scoreboard first grabbing a run in the bottom half of the opening inning, but the Padres Brandon Finnegan would settle down and get plenty of run support to improve his record to 5-0 on the year. His final line, 7.0 IP 3 H 1 R 1 ER 2 BB 4's.

San Diego would get plenty of offense smashing a total of 4 home runs in the win. Kris Bryant lead the offense with a 2 for 3, 2 HR 3 RBI night. Freddie Freeman added a solo shot, while Matt Wieters also provided a 2-run home run off of the struggling Brewers pitching staff.

"I've been hitting the ball hard at people. Hitting it hard out of the park might be the best strategy." - Kris Bryant, San Diego Padres

The final game of the 4 game series is set for Sunday afternoon with the Padres sending veteran Bartolo Colon (3-3, 3.91) to the bump to take on the Brewers Chad Bettis (0-0, 0.00), who is making his first start of the season after getting the call-up from AAA Colorado Springs.

Re: 2016 - San Diego Padres - Fantasy Draft Franchise

Game 39 - San Diego Padres (25-13) at Milwaukee Brewers (17-21)

The Brewers losing streak is stretched to 8 games as the Padres battle back from a 2 run deficit scoring 2 in the 8th to tie the game at 6-6, and then getting the go ahead run in the 9th giving them a 7-6 win and the road sweep of Milwaukee.

It looked like the Brew crew may end their losing ways as after giving up 4 runs in the top of the 3rd inning, they cut the lead to 1 in the home half of the inning grabbing 3 runs off of Bartolo Colon. Then they tag him for another 3 runs in the 6th and ending his night, Colon's final line was 6.0 IP 9 H 6 R 5 ER 0 BB 3 K's.

But the visiting Padres would spoil the win with 3 late runs. Roberto Osuna would strike out the side in the 9th for his 10th save of the year with the 7-6 win.

"Osuna's fastball was unhittable tonight." - James McCann, San Diego Padres

San Diego enjoys an off day while traveling home for a 6 game home stand. The San Francisco Giants come into town on Tuesday with the Giants Carlos Carrasco (4-3, 3.98) on the mound to take on the Padres Daniel Norris (1-6, 5.74). The Giants come in to San Diego in last place in the NL West sitting 11.5 games back from the 1st place Padres.

Game 40 - San Francisco Giants (15-25) at San Diego Padres (26-13)

The San Diego Padres remain as one of the hottest teams in the major leagues with a 3-0 home win over the visiting San Francisco Giants. The Padres are now 9-1 in their last 10 ballgames and increased their winning streak to a season long tying 5 games.

The Padres got to Carlos Carrasco early with 2 runs in the first inning. Kris Bryant gets an RBI beating out a double-play to give the Padres a 1-0 lead. Two batters later Matt Wieters grabs his 23rd RBI on the season sneaking a 2-out single down the 3rd base line just over the bag to score the 2nd run of the inning and give Norris an early 2-run lead to work with.

Daniel Norris settled down nicely in perhaps his best outing this season to improve his record to 2-6 on the year, his line, 7.0 IP 4 H 0 R 0 ER 3 BB 6 K's. The Padres bullpen came in to clean up and pitched two scoreless innings to make the final 3-0.

"I simplified my approach tonight. Just nod and execute. " - Daniel Norris, San Diego Padres

Game 2 of the three game series is set for Wednesday night with Kenta Maeda (3-5, 2.82) on the mound for the San Francisco Giants to take on the San Diego Padres veteran ace Adam Wainwright (4-2, 2.24).

Game 41 - San Francisco Giants (15-26) at San Diego Padres (27-13)

The San Diego Padres make it 6 in a row with a 6-1 win over the struggling San Francisco Giants. The Padres Joc Pederson continued his power surge as he smashes a 2-run HR, and a solo HR on the day, finishing his night 2 for 4, 2 HR 3 RBI. Carlos Correa added 2 RBI's on the night. The 12 hit barrage by the Padres had every starter grabbing a hit except the struggling Ichiro.

Adam Wainwright was solid from the start of the game on while not running up his pitch count. He would go the distance and his only mistake was a solo HR off a hanging curveball to the Giants Anthony Rizzo in the 4th inning. Wainwright's final line on the day was 9.0 IP 7 H 1 R 1 ER 0 BB 4 K's, and improved his record to 5-2 on the season.

"The arm is feeling great and I just love to win. " - Adam Wainwright, San Diego Padres

The final game of the three is set for Thursday afternoon and it doesn't get any easier for the struggling Giants as the Padres send Aaron Sanchez (6-1, 1.76) to the mound to take on the the Giants Kyle Gibson (2-4, 4.30).

Game 42 - San Francisco Giants (15-27) at San Diego Padres (28-13)

The winning streak stretches to 7 games as the red hot San Diego Padres hammer the visiting San Francisco Giants 6-0 in the series finale. San Diego grabbed a lead in the 3rd on a Kris Bryant ground out to first scoring Jerrod Dyson from 3rd for a 1-0 lead after 3 innings of play. Jorge Soler would smack a 2-run HR in the 7th and add a solo shot in the 8th to propel the Padres to the 6-0 win.

Young phenom Aaron Sanchez continued his strong start to the season improving his record to 7-1 and lowering his ERA to paltry 1.56, his final line 7.0 IP 3 H 0 R 0 ER 2 BB 4 K's. Kyle Gibson drops to 2-5 despite a strong performance, his line 6.0 IP 4 H 3 R 3 ER 3 BB 7 K's.

Re: 2016 - San Diego Padres - Fantasy Draft Franchise

Game 43 - Los Angeles Dodgers (25-17) at San Diego Padres (29-13)

The 7 game winning streak looked like it would continue early on with the Padres grabbing a 4-0 lead through 7 innings of play. All runs coming off of RBI doubles at the hands of Freddie Freeman, Kris Bryant, and Jorge Soler.

Meanwhile Brandon Finnegan was cruising along until the top of the 8th inning where the wheels fell off the wagon in a big way. The Dodgers knock Finnegan out of the game and rough up Fernando Rodney for his 1st blown save of the year. The duo was touched up for 7 runs on 7 hits and a walk giving the Dodgers a 7-4 lead heading into the bottom of the 8th.

Drew Storen provided LA with a flawless 8th inning (3 up, 3 down) and Jeurys Familia followed suit in the 9th inning recording his 16th save of the season.

"They (Padres) were as hot as you can get. I'm hoping our streak (now 3 games) can continue here in San Diego. " - Melvin Upton Jr., Los Angeles Dodgers

Game 2 of the 3 game series sends the ageless wonder Bartolo Colon (3-3, 4.15) on the mound for the Padres to take on the Dodgers Ervin Santana (2-3, 4.54).

Re: 2016 - San Diego Padres - Fantasy Draft Franchise

Game 44 - Los Angeles Dodgers (26-17) at San Diego Padres (29-14)

Bartolo Colon continues his strong play on the season grabbing his 2nd complete game shutout on the season and his 3rd complete game on the year. Carlos Correa and Freddie Freeman both smacked solo homers off of Clay Buchholz to propel the home squad to the 3-0 win.

The Dodgers manage to outhit the Padres 6-5 overall but could not capitalize on their rare opportunities to score off of Colon.

"Matty (Wieters) puts down the signs and I just throw." - Bartolo Colon, San Diego Padres

The final game of the 3 game series goes Sunday afternoon with Daniel Norris (2-6, 4.58) on the bump for the Padres to face the the Dodgers Clay Buchholz (1-2, 3.51).
