Thunder Advance To 2nd Round

Going into game 4 it was a near lock OKC would advance to the 2nd round up 3-0. They would lose in game 4 as Paul George had 23 points and 13 assist. Bias was star for them with 20 points,14 rebounds and 5 assist. While Nurkic had 9-13-5. OKC would narrowly win game 5 by 3 points to advance to the 2nd round. SGA was man in this one with 31-1-7. Bias was a efficient 10 of 14 for 27 points. Josh Giddy would add a triple double.

It wasn't all good news though as Lillard got hurt in game 3 and will be injured likely for the rest of the playoffs. The good news is that he can play through it, but he will not be close to 100% (-4 ovr). The OKC GM has some tough decisions to make on how to divide the minutes.

2nd round pick Wolfe filled in the last two games as a trial run. He has A+ shooting and did shoot 50% in limited attempts however likely goes back to the bench. A shame Dame was hurt has he was having a big playoffs scoring 26 per game. Bias and SGA are playing at all star levels to round out the big 3. Not pictured in the stats is Nurkic who had 8 and 11 in 31 minutes. Bill laimbeer got the backup C minutes as Clarke is still hurt and did a solid job. In 15 minutes he had 5 points and 5 rebounds and brings toughness. Giddy is the backup PG and has played very well recently filling up the stat sheet.

Ah man, that stinks. At least he's playing, but yeah we'll need Bias/SGA/Giddey/Houston to probably add 10 points and 5 assists per game.

Pacers Shock The League

If Washington didn't shock the league the former team Indiana did as they make quick work of the #1 seed Bucks. They had won 3 of the last 4 titles and won 63 games this year.

In game 6 it was a offensive explosion with the big 3 all scoring over 20. Sabonis had 25 and 20 while Person had 23 points on 6/7 from 3. Fox was at 21 with 3 steals and added 10 assists. The final game 5 was a close 3 point game with a key block the final minute by Isaac. Sabonis again was at it 25 points, 16 rebounds and 10 assist. Petrovich had 20 points in just 19 minutes. Isaac was at 11-11-2 with 2 steals and 5 blocks.

A change they made before game 1 to start Isaac at PF and up his minutes. This was so he can guard Giannis full time. He as good of a match as you will get to guard him and much better then Sabonis or Person. It wasn't all good news as a key member of the bench T.J McConnell got hurt and will miss the next series. T.J is a huge loss was getting 26 minutes a game and shined at playmaking and defense with high IQ.

Boy did Sabonis hush critics in the 1st year of his new deal. It was looking like it could be a bad contract after his stats dropped in the regular season. He was the best player in the series with a monster stat line 22 points, 16 rebounds, 8 assist and 2 steals. Fox also played well against the dropping athleticism of Jrue. They have a solid trio of wings in Brogdon, Durate and Drazen with T.J and Person also getting minutes in those positions.

Isaac With a key block late in game 5

Yea it was a bummer he got hurt the good news is since it happened to the start of the next series. He has went up 2/3 points so hopefully it will be a long series.

Here is example of the minutes to close the series. How do you want to set them ? I' was thinking give Lillard those 17 from Wolfe in game 1 and see what happens.

Yeah, I think that's a good idea. We could maybe even drop Giddey to 28 to give Lillard an even 20?

2nd Round Preview

#1 Spurs vs #5 Thunder
San Antonio is a team built around two 1st team all NBA players. They are the 2nd ranked in both regular season and postseason in defense. Rozier came over midseason and he is the #1 option on offense scoring 18 in the 1st round. The C's are just ok in Harrell / Poeltl and they split time. They shoot just 33% from 3 first round and need their 4's to shoot well.

The injury to Lillard complicates things as now Rozier can guard him instead. This leaves Murray to guard SGA and Ben Simmons on Bias. Neither team is good at shooting the 3. Someone needs to step up and score for OKC with Lillard hurt as SGA and Bias have tough matchups. The C matchup is a wash with neither of the 4 being game changers.

Prediciton OKC has to find a way to win some games early and this go 7. I think the defense of SA wins it in 5 games.

Spurs Starters
PG - Terry Rozier 84
SG - Dejounte Murray 82
SF - Ben Simmons 86
PF - Davis Bertans 77
C - Montrez Harrell 80
2 Key Bench Players - Kelly Oubre 78 - Doug Edwards 77 (shooter, 7th pick)

Starters
PG - Josh Gibby 79
SG - SGA 85
SF - O.G 82
PF - Bias 84
C - Nurkic 81
2 Key Bench Players - Lillard 81* - Allan Houston 78

----------------------------------------------------------

#2 Mavs vs #6 Trailblazers
This is going to be a heck of a series with the 2 stars for Dallas vs the youth and depth of Portland. Luka won the MVP and didn't drop off in the 1st round averaging 23-11-10. He finally has a star beside him in Kawhi who went for 25-8-6 last round. They have 2 quality old vets at C in Jonas and Stpehen Adams. Early Harvey is a key player as a G off the bench that can score averaging 16 per game. They have some decent depth at the back end of the rotation at G in Lonnie Walker, Forbes and John Wall. The problem from the is F's outside of Kawhi. Can the two stars outshine the depth of Portland ?

Portland rolled through the higher seed in the first round and I would want no part playing them. Larry Bird lead the league in scoring this postseason with 27 per game and had 8 rebounds and 6 assist. The 3 G's trio they have is the best in the league arguable and all have different roles. Sabonis saw his stats drop in the regular season, but was way up last round. He had 15 and 12 up from 8 and 10. They can shoot the 3 leading in 3% and Marcus Morris coming off the bench helps. He shoot 64% from 3 in those 4 games and Murray wasn't far behind.

Prediciton I want to pick Portland they are hot, I'll go with the two stars and say Dallas in 7

Mavs Starters
PG - Jalen Brunson 78
SG - Luka Doncic 95
SF - Dorian Finney Smith 76
PF - Kawhi Leonard 91
C - Steven Adams 77
2 Key Bench Players - Earl Harvey 77 - Jonas Valanciunas 80

Portland Starters
PG - Penny Hardaway 81
SG - Ron Harper 79
SF - Normal Powell 81
PF - Larry Bird 83
C - Arvydas Sabonis 77
2 Key Bench Players - Jamal Murray 82 - Marcus Morris 77

-----------------------------------------------------------------

#8 Pacers vs #5 Nets

Indiana gets a pretty good matchup a easier team then they just beat. While Brooklyn is the defending champs they lack depth and Joe Harris being hurt is big. Harden has been doing his part 26 per game after making all nba this year. Durant seems to be showing his age some still he scored 20. Tyus Jones is as steady as they come at PG. His A+ defense with 9 assist per game makes him the perfect PG on this roster. A big issue for the team is depth and they will need defense to help them which has been elite for the last 2 years.

When Sabonis plays like he did last series (22-15-6) I'm not sure anyone can beat this team. He would be the best C that's still alive in the playoffs. Fox averaged 20, but will get a tougher matchup however Kemba can't guard him in the 2nd unit. They are good well balanced team with size, shooting, scoring and defense. The loss of T.J will hurt, but Drazen seems ready for more minutes after shooting 42% from 3 this regular season. Nate Mcmillan a 3&D guy will join the rotation. I'm not sure Brooklyn can win without KD being great and Isaac will start and guard a defensive specialist.

Prediciton Indiana in 6 they have more talent

Pacers Starters
PG - Fox 87
SG - Brogdon 83
SF - Chuck Person 80
PF - Jonathon Isaac 81
C - Sabonis 86
2 Key Bench Players - Durate 80 - Drazen 77

Nets Starters
PG - Tyus Jones 76
SG - Harden 91
SF - Bruce Brown 76
PF - Durant 93
C - Richaun Holmes 81
2 Key Bench Players - Nerlens Noel 78 - Kemba Walker 77

ediotrs note - I didn't rig the postseason just got lucky and all the teams I wanted to win did. I did jump into a few OKC and IND games late in the 4th. I plan on doing that next round as well

Re: NBA 2K - Georgiafan's 3 year realistic rebuilds / remasters

Celtics Preview - 3 Biggest Questions

GM Bubba is still having nightmares after last years 1st round which saw Boston seemly hit every shot on offense. They are back with the same team built around two of the top two way players in the league. Russell Westbrook has been a great fit and still has A- Athleticism. The bench is a little weak so that's one flaw they have.

How does Washington score on Boston?
Boston has 3 starters with A+ perimeter defense giving them options on who guards Magic and Beal. To start with Smart will match up with Beal and Brown on Magic. This leaves Tatum to guard the 3rd option Tobas likely shutting him down completely. Robert Wiliams is also a quality rim protector and Washington isn't a great 3 point shooting team.

Who guards Tatum since you don't have elite defensive F?
Washington has no good options to guard Tatum so it will be hard to hold him under 20 points. Magic is likely your best option as he has the size and athleticism. Thats going to be a for him to have to guard the #1 option. Tobas is another option, but he is just decent on defense.

Will Boston still hit a bunch of 3's?
Boston shouldn't be a great 3 point shooting team, but like we said last years playoff it felt like they shoot 65% from 3. Brown and Tatum are A+ in shooting with Watts an A. They are shooting a solid 37% from 3 this postseason. With Smart, Westbrook and Williams starting they shouldn't be hitting a bunch of 3's. The defensive #1 goal will be to prevent that after last year.

Yeah, the Wizards are really going to have their work cut out for them. The good news is that you've made it this far, which is exceeding expectations and it's all icing on the cake. You can make your tweaks for years 2 and 3 to get that title.
