On tactical defending I have had teammate's tackle/knock ball away when using teammate press. If you watch enough of the sport you will see that quite often it isn't a tackle that dispossesses the ball, but rather a mistake by the dribbler trying to put the ball by, or an errant pass.

That being said, it is about enjoyment, and so if someone isn't enjoying it they should mess with what level they play with or tweak the settings until they get a game enjoyable to them.

Haha, ya I forgot the circle button. That's my bad

Side not, I'd like if FIFA added PES manual switch style.

I'm a fan of tactical defending, as it fits my style better than the press/double/maul that was "legacy defending" in FIFA11 & prior. And I've been know to watch a match or two...

Not sure I follow. Do you mean where it doesn't switch on offense until the user does it? I never liked that and would prefer manual switch for defending and auto for attacking.

I like how PES manual lets me stay as one player until you want to change with and without the ball. Not really a fan of FIFA manual switch forces you to be the ball handler every time you get the ball, even though the option says they won't switch you.

PES = true Manual
FIFA = Manual/Auto

Use the options available, try different playing styles, and believe it or not, change your formation. Good luck!
This.

I used to be the one annoyed on the forums, but it can be overcome. Just keep playing and adjust

Agreed, those have always been the worst parts of the game. This year is definitely better.

I don't even bother with tactical defending - to me it's just as easy (if not easier) to defend 'normally' with the jockeying buttons and X to tackle (on PS3).

Re: FIFA 14 Impressions

It always amazes me how every year, someone posts on the forums here that 'I got beat 5-0, the game must be cheating'.

First of all, if you are online, the AI is the same for you as it is for the other person. Second of all, has it ever occurred to you that the other person might just be better than you?

I had a record last year of roughly W65, D33, L58 online, but I frequently came up against people who despite using fast players and spamming skill moves, were just better than me. I tried my best and in the end had to admit defeat because there was nothing more I could have done.

Having played PES for 10 years, this FIFA feels like a cross between FIFA and PES, and that's a great thing. Yes, there are still some faults, but you can actually feel that you have a great chance of winning with a slow, skilful team as well as a lightning fast one this time around.
