Re: Still NO real STOPPING POWER in EA UFC 2

This game (especially post-patch 1.05) is heading in the right direction re: Striking and Stopping Power ... but definitely has awhile to go.

I'm loving the new 'jab intercept', but at times it's a bit OP. I will admit that part of this 'OPness' is poor collision detection, which isn't really patchable (right?)

However, this patch 1.05 REALLY DID make a huge difference, for the better.

But yes --- on the flipside --- there are still many times when a SOLID, flush strike does little to no damage! So yes they certainly do need to increase the stopping power of many strikes.

I'm hesitant to ask them to re-work striking at this point (for this game, UFC 2). It's in a decent position right now, and I"m not sure they could make it any better without a full overhaul of the physics system....which we won't get via patch...

I'd rather them leave it where it is right now, and work on a whole new system for UFC 3. If they keep messing with UFC 2 striking via patch....it might bring things back to the other end of the spectrum, which would be a very bad thing IMO. Quit while ahead! lol

So long story short: We need more stopping power!... but hey I'll take what I can get, post patch 1.05 I definitely CAN stop spammers/spinners/etc cold in their tracks, where before it was much more difficult.

It's not broken. it's working exactly as it's intended to.

Because the devs have never indicated that they have an issue with the game's combo multiplier or stopping power?

Yes, but they also made by patch many fixes in striking which are now in 2nd game:
- combo multiplier
- strike crushing scripts
- hold legs in parries
- stagger when getting hit during dodges
- linking L/R striking into series by right timing
all this changes where made by patches after the launch - 7 patches at all.
And the most of them are now in EA UFC 2.
So, if EA begin to infiltrate new striking - she could do it by patches even now. EA tested community reactions by oatches in EA UFC 1, so EA may begin to test/infiltrate striking changes by patches on EA UFC 2 to be ready for global new striking in EA UFC 3.

EA has stated multiple times that they dont plan to make as many significant changes to the game through patches as they did with UFC 1.

You are arguing against a point I never made. I didnt say they couldnt add significant striking changes to the game. If they wanted to, they could take the next year and spend it on improving UFC 2. I said it was unlikely.

****, GPD posted a pic from a striking motion capture session a month or so ago. I'm sure EA could take some of those new animations and add them to the game. Will they? Who knows but I dont think that they will because thats not how EA and most game companies work.

Do you really think they would publicly admit it if they did? I doubt it.

Re: Still NO real STOPPING POWER in EA UFC 2

Back on the old forums, it was implied by GPD that the discrepancy between ground and standing strikes could be changed down the road. But he wanted to wait for additional feedback first. I heard him enter this discussion on the old forums twice, and he asked which way we wanted to fix this discrepancy. Either by tuning GNP or standing strikes.

My vote is still, and always has been, for increasing stopping power in standing strikes. I will play much more again when they fix this broken stand up game.
