Re: Winning in the Windy City | A Chicago Bears Dynasty (M19)
Bears handle Raiders, defense dominates in 26-0 shutout 2019WK4.jpg
The Bears took care of business at home Sunday, easily beating the Raiders 26-0 behind the stellar play of their defense. Chase Daniel had his best game so far, managing the offense as much as one could hope, putting up 192 yards on 10/17 passing, with 2 TDs and no interceptions. The Bears ran the ball a total of 30 times between 5 players, with each player averaging at least 4.5 ypc for the day.
The Bears took a 13-0 lead heading into halftime, in part due to Eddie Jackson's two first half interceptions of Derek Carr. Carr was held to 129 passing yards all game, and the Raiders' run game didn't fare any better, with Latavius Murray averaging just 3.8 ypc on 20 attempts.
Taylor Gabriel doubled up his TD total on the game with a 42 yard TD reception in the 3rd quarter, and after Michael Badgley doinked a field goal attempt off the crossbar, Cole Tracy put three more points on the board to give the Bears a 23-0 lead going into the 4th quarter.
There was little to no offense in the final quarter, other than another Tracy FG to extend the lead to 26. The Raiders punted 5 times and turned the ball over 3 times, and fell to 2-2 on the season as their offense sputtered in Chicago. Leonard Floyd had a nice game, with 3 sacks and a forced fumble, and is really making a case for a big extension to come soon in his contract year.
The Bears move to 3-1, and take control of the NFC North. Unfortunately, the Bears suffered another injury to a starter in the win, as Eddie Goldman exited in the 2nd quarter due to a shoulder injury later confirmed as a tear that will keep him out for a few weeks.

The Bears travel to Philly for their first game this season away from Soldier Field. At 3-1, the Bears will try to beat the Eagles on the road to get their third straight victory. The Eagles are coming off an early bye week, and will look to try to put pressure on Chase Daniel to force him into bad throws, where they can capitalize with takeaways. The Eagles may be able to get the run game going early, as the Bears will be without the middle of their defensive line, Eddie Goldman. Whichever team can get their running game going early may be the team who comes out on top.
Re: Winning in the Windy City | A Chicago Bears Dynasty (M19)
Eagles upset Bears 41-23, Daniel benched after 3 INTs 2019WK5.jpg
The Bears lost to the Eagles 41-23 after a second half collapse which included the benching of QB Chase Daniel after he threw his third interception, a 45-yard pick six by Malcolm Jenkins near the end of the third quarter. This gave 7th round pick Tyree Jackson of Buffalo his first NFL snaps, and he impressed the coaching staff, even if he was just playing in garbage time.
The Eagles struck first in this game, as Jake Elliott hit a 37-yard FG to give the Eagles a 3-0 lead. Later in the first, Alshon Jeffery scored the first of his three TDs against his former team. After the teams exchanged field goals, the Bears were able to score a touchdown to keep the close heading into halftime.
The second half was a different story. The Eagles scored 28 unanswered points in the second half, jumping to a huge 41-10 lead after Jeffery's third touchdown of the game. At this point, Nagy had seen enough of Daniel, who has thrown 10 interceptions in his 4 starts this season.
Nagy threw Jackson into the fire, and Jackson was able to impressively lead a couple of scoring drives in the fourth quarter. He capped off his first NFL drive with a 10 yard TD run, and on the next drive, connected with Tarik Cohen for a passing touchdown. Jackson's statline from his two drives against the Eagles wasn't overly impressive (10/12, 66 yards, passing TD, rushing TD), but he was able to move the ball down the field, something Chase Daniel has been inconsistent with.
This leaves many wondering, could the Bears actually decide to start Tyree Jackson next week? "Right now, we just want the best possible quarterback out there leading this team. Until Mitchell (Trubisky) comes back, we need to figure out who that is going to be," said coach Matt Nagy during the postgame press conference.
It looks like the Bears have a decision to make, and this week might be the best week to let Jackson have an opportunity to start and be able to play an entire game. The Bears will travel back home to take on the 2-3 Giants next week, and the next week is their bye week. With the potential to have Trubisky come back the week after the bye, the Bears might want to roll with the rookie QB for a game, because it might be better than taking their chances with the inconsistent Daniel again.

Injury Report

QB Mitchell Trubisky (collarbone) Out
DT Eddie Goldman (shoulder) Out
The Bears are back at home this week, taking on the struggling 2-3 Giants. Eli Manning is still the starting QB for the G-Men, and the Bears secondary may be in the market for some takeaways. The Bears are without Eddie Goldman again due to injury, but the Giants have a healthy squad coming into this one.
The big question here: who will start at quarterback for the Bears? Matt Nagy has yet to announce a starter, and it is looking more and more like it will be a game-time decision. Fans are clamoring for Jackson after his two garbage time drives that ended in two touchdowns, while Chase Daniel leads the league in interceptions in 4 games as a starter.
The Bears are just hoping to find a way to get to the bye week 4-2 and with no more injuries. The Giants find themselves near the Redskins at the bottom of the NFC East, and another loss here may really hurt their playoff hopes.
The Bears got back on track, defeating the Giants 31-17 with a solid performance from Tyree Jackson in his first NFL start. The Bears' first drive marched down the field and ended in a Tarik Cohen rushing TD, and the Giants quickly answered back with a 70 yard Evan Engram catch and run for a TD.
On the next drive, Cole Tracy had a field goal attempt blocked, but in the 2nd quarter the Bears extended their lead to 21-7 with a pair of offensive touchdowns. Saquon Barkley was completely shut down in the run game, netting just 22 yards on 10 carries. The Bears went into half up 21-7.
The only score of the third quarter was a Cole Tracy field goal, and the Giants scoring drought finally ended in the fourth quarter, when Aldrick Rosas made his only field goal attempt of the day. The Bears scored on another Cohen rushing touchdown late to seal the game, and the Giants were able to put another touchdown on the board before a failed onside kick ultimately put the nail in the coffin.
The Bears are 4-2 going into their bye, which many did not see coming once Mitchell Trubisky went down with an injury in week 1. The Giants fall to 2-3 and are heading towards the bottom of the NFC East.
