Re: MLB 14 The Show Official Trade Discussion Thread
I personally started out without 30 team control in 2013 and learned real quickly after watching teams trade their top prospects for aging veterans every month that it's just impossible to play without it.
It's pretty easy to set up 2 profiles, 1 for human control teams and 1 for CPU ran teams.
I personally run trades and the draft for all teams as well as free agency and contracts. I let the CPU run the 40 man roster and day to day moves.
It takes awhile during the trade deadline and during the off-season but it's well worth it if you don't want rosters looking like a bunch of fantasy teams by year 2 or 3.Comment

Re: MLB 14 The Show Official Trade Discussion Thread
Sometimes it will be hard to go straight by the spreadsheet if you're not all the teams so you can just make trades and put them in effect.
That said, usually I'll take what the CPU likes (I'm not a 30-team person) and try to build a trade around it that makes sense and use the spreadsheet as a guide, assuming it's not involving unlisted players like fictional players or some prospects. If I can't, then just no deal, or if the CPU wants something completely stupid from me - no deal."Some people call it butterflies, but to him, it probably feels like pterodactyls in his stomach." --Plesac in MLB18Comment

Re: MLB 14 The Show Official Trade Discussion Thread
It's the beginning of May, and the Cubs have offered Addison Russell, and Javier Baez to the Red Sox for Jon Lester. I don't know what to make of this move. The Red Sox are in 4th at 15-14, and the Cubs are last at 11-16. I can see them maybe trading one, but not both of their SS prospects. Perhaps, Castro, and Junior Lake, or either Russell, or Baez and Soler for Lester? What do you guys think? Should I let the trade go as constructed, make changes to it, or just outright decline it?#HellaBandz

What do you guys think Jose Reyes could get me if I ate his salary? Not all of it but most. More than my last set of deals when I wasn't eating any. Wondering about the value difference and if it's worth it."Twelve at-bats is a pretty decent sample size." - Eric ByrnesComment

Re: MLB 14 The Show Official Trade Discussion Thread
I think the only thing to do that would solve the problem is finding the other team's worst player that isn't contributing and has the worst contract in-game. Do guys in AAA/AA count against payroll in the game, or is that just for the big leagues? There's gotta be some filler guys in each organization that could fit in a scenario like this.
It's essentially salary relief, and solves the problem of doing nothing for the other team.
I think it would be cool to actually be able to eat salary in-game, but I don't think we'll see that for a while. Trading is so broken that adding a new layer to it would be a huge mess.Comment
