    Re: Dynamic Difficulty?

    Hmm, interesting..

But again, in my edit, someone using the cubs that goes 5-19 would probably get an easy setting correct, meaning they could possibly win more? If it was just a static setting and sliders, the difficulty doesn't adjust no matter who you use. Correct?

I might check it out but just wanted to get some input. Thanks man

    Edit::

Thanks for the detailed info.. What if I lost:

    Game 1 12-3
    Game 2 4-1
    Game 3 6-2
    Game 4 won this 3-2

Would there be a change? There are games were blowouts happen, so if it took like 5 games losing by 10 runs before I drop in difficulty, that'd make sense.

I can see what you're saying but I think it depends on how each user plays the game. I may be wrong but it certainly seems the majority of people bump difficulty up/down or adjust sliders to find a competitive yet fair difficulty level on a regular basis. Those adjustments usually hinge on how good or bad someone is playing over the course of time. I can't imagine anyone using the same settings for an entire season. Most make the game more difficult as their skills improve or vice versa. My take is DD does that for you.

Yes, there is no handicapping for the team. But a good team might only be 1/2 a difficulty better anyways and almost all of the success depends on the player. In other words, it takes a good player to make use of a good team.

As for the run examples, DD only cares about OPS. This prevents someone from winning/losing a lot due to "luck" of what situations their hits happened. For example, a home run is worth just as much in terms of evaluating that player whether it was bases empty or bases loaded because the batter has no control over that. So with just the score, we can't say whether you'd definitely get promoted or demoted.

For those reasons, some blowouts aren't as impressive as they seem while others are more impressive - once you factor out how much "situational luck" played a role. Let's put it this way, there's a huge difference between 0 runs scored, a no-hitter, and a perfect game. All three are 0 runs but OPS tells a different story.

          Re: Dynamic Difficulty?

Okay thanks Brian. Makes sense, I might give it a go and see if I like it, if not I can always switch back. Sounds like a great idea but I still have some doubts even though you removed some of them for me.

I will give it a go and will report back with my opinion in a few days.

Last question, can I start with all star and go from there? Id hate to play on rookie...

You can't start on all-star, but someone.posted a great idea to get your difficulty up prior to starting your franchise. Play some exhibition games using an all-star team against a double a team. Once you hit your desired level save the profile and start you franchise. I did this and I took only a couple games to get to all-star. Wasn't my idea but can't remember you brought it up

while i have brian in here, does DD track when playing the show live? thats mostly what I play. I cant tell if i havent improved or if it keeps resetting. I feel like i got to rookie++, then next game it was at rookie again.

edit: BTW thanks for all your time and answers!

Can someone tell me how to either create the second profile or reset my current one? I want to start fresh with a new Dynamic setting.

Your concern is warranted but it doesn't really play out like that; if you're wallowing away at 5-19, you've likely been on Rookie that whole time anyway, so no, you're not winning more because it's on Rookie.

Is there a way to have the dynamic difficulty only notify you when it actually changes between levels?

Very annoying seeing it pop at every at-bat in rtts.

Just curious, I was winning in the spring training games on DD and decided to end ST and go to the regular season. Lost first 4 games. Does DD change when the games count? Lost by 7-2, 9-4 type games. I use classis pitching and I walked the CPU more than I did in ST.

                          Re: Dynamic Difficulty?

I may have to backtrack on my stance on DD a bit. I started up a new spring training with a DD profile where I'd made it to HOF hitting. Through 5 games, not only have I not promoted/demoted once, I've barely even progressed either way. This is, of course, a good thing as it seems it would take a really abnormal performance sustained for a long time to change levels. I've had several innings where my OPS spiked up while I scored a few runs, but then it went back down when I made several outs in a row.

The stats are a bit unbalanced at the moment because I'm working my way up through the pitching levels (currently Vet+), but I'm pretty impressed at how this is going so far.

I'm 11-2 on a season with the Red Sox. DD has got me upto vet +++ pitching and vet + batting. My sliders are pretty much default barring pitch speed, which is set at 4 and stride difficulty also set at 4. I'm not scoring tons of runs or even getting excessive hits. Batting averages for my team are probably about right.

I'm mainly winning games through pitching rather than through offence. Why is it taking so long for DD to level things out? It's obviously too easy for me but I'm afraid to manually take it up a notch incase I start getting creamed.

What the heck am I doing with pitch speed at 5, 72 years old on August 2nd. I haven't thought of lowering it because last year it was also at 5. Now maybe, being a year older, I should lower pitch speed, but my vanity won't let me
