Re: MLB 15 Franchise Progress Thread
Amidst a 9 game losing streak, the Rockies began the weekend series vs the Giants. Rocks took games 1 and 2, and were in search for their first opportunity to be the sweepers and not the swept. Sunday I gave a few starters a day off, Tulo and Arenado, with Arenado struggling and barely keeping afloat batting a measly .195. Fast forward bottom of the 8th. Down 5-2, facing Jeremy Affeldt, guys on 1st and 2nd, Daniel Descalso ropes a single up the middle scoring the man on 2nd. Affeldt gets pulled for Jean Machi. My pitcher spot is due up, so in comes Nolan Arenado who was scheduled the day off mainly due to lack of offense. I play with quick counts on, so it's 3-2, man on 1st and 2nd, Machi tosses a slider flatter that a punctured tire, and adios baseball, Arenado bombs it over the LF wall at Coors Field and gives the Rocks a 6-5 lead. Jon Axford comes in the 9th and shuts the door with Ks on Posey and Pence, and an infield fly out from Belt.
Wow what an amazing game it was. FYI I play with Armors hybrid quick counts sliders.Miami Heat

Re: MLB 15 Franchise Progress Thread
Hey guys, I'm looking to give Franchise Mode a go again. I've never really played a lot of it, as I mostly play RttS. I'm just looking to use one team, as I am not experienced, and am planning on using my favorite team, the Reds, because I have more knowledge of them than I do of any other team.
Here are a few questions: What roster set should I use? What mode-specific settings should I adjust to ease my way into the mode? What are some other tips that you guys would like to give?
I'm looking forward to all of your responses.Comment

Re: MLB 15 Franchise Progress Thread
Up to 4-1 on the Young Season with my Kansas City Royals, am really starting to hit my stride in the pitching department and Alex Gordon has homered in each of the last two games against the Angels. Im set to wrap up the 3 game weekend series and opening week all in one tomorrow, hopefully with a 5-1 record heading into Minnesota next week.

Re: MLB 15 Franchise Progress Thread
Holy smokes, who has played the Giants in year one of franchise? Man I just played them and they are mlb best 25-8. I have never had a team hit and run and steal throughout the whole game like this team. Man they would double steal, double hit and run, and single steal. I have never felt so much pressure as a pitcher. They whipped me 7-3. Pretty helpless feeling throughout. I do not keep up with baseball, is this how they play in real life?I can do all things in Christ who strengthens me!

Re: MLB 15 Franchise Progress Thread
something weird just happened haha. I was facing Seattle and they had bases loaded with no outs in bottom of the 11th and cano hit a walkoff single to win the game 10-9 but instead of the final score being 10-9, the box score said 12-9? That must be a glitch because they counted runs for everyone on base lolComment

Re: MLB 15 Franchise Progress Thread
My Royals have moved to 5-2 on the year. Currently struggling to hit (.221 Team Batting Average) but my 2.33 ERA is making up for it. My Starts except for the first and third game of the Season have all been really good, The Bullpen has been lights out with the exception of Ryan Madson, but I am hoping he'll improve with time. Nothing but good things heading into Game 2 of a 3 game series in Minnesota.NCAAM: Wichita State Shockers

Re: MLB 15 Franchise Progress Thread
In 2017 of my Marlins franchise (thank you carry over saves):
Two big stories on the mound, one involving the Marlins.
Marlins rookie Damian Boeve (drafted in 2014 in MLB14) is 11-0 with a 2.33 ERA, a season that's included a perfect game and his first career HR as well. Who says baseball is hard?!
The other story is by some guy you might have heard of. Clayton Kershaw is posting one of the best single-season ERA's of all time right now. He's currently sporting a 1.33 ERA and an 8-4 record.
That ERA puts him on pace for the 18th best mark in the history of the game, just ahead of Walter Johnson's 1910 season. Only Bob Gibson's 1.12 mark is better in the modern era.
How he's got any losses at all with that ERA is a mystery. The Dodgers hitters should be ashamed.
All that said, Jameson Taillon is not up there only because of bad luck (or bad Pirates defense). Taillon's ERA is 3.07, which is very solid, but that's with a .371 BABIP allowed, which is insanely high. His FIP is estimated at 1.95, and his dERA is 1.75. Someone get this man some defense! Fun fact: he has just 4 decisions (3-1) in 13 starts."Some people call it butterflies, but to him, it probably feels like pterodactyls in his stomach." --Plesac in MLB18Comment

Re: MLB 15 Franchise Progress Thread
Didnt really like my fantasy draft franchise. And with Willard's roster coming out decided to start another new one. Decided to go with Milwaukee this time.
1 month into the season we arent doing to bad. 11-11 tied for 3rd with Pittsburgh. 3 games back of STL for 1st and 1.5 games back of SF for the 2nd Wild Card.
Segura and Lucroy hitting 1st and 2nd has been great. Segura is hitting .329 with a .356 OBP and Lucroy is hitting .325 with 4 HR. Gennett is hitting .304 and leads the team with 13 runs. Gerardo Parra splitting time with Khris Davis in LF is hitting .311 and has a .446 OBP. Braun and Aramis Ramirez are a little disappointing. Braun is hitting .227 but leads the team with 13 RBI. Ramirez is hitting .206 and is 2nd with 11 RBI.
Kyle Lohse is 3-1 with a 1.91 ERA in 37.2 IP. Matt Garza is 1-2 with a 3.10 ERA. Peralta, Nelson and Fiers all have an ERA over 4.24. Bullpen is alright i guess. K-Rod has a 3.00 ERA and 6 saves. Jeremy Jeffress has pitched 12 innings. Given up just 2 hits and has 5 walks for a 0.58 WHIP. No runs allowed. Will Smith is terrible. Has only appeared in 4 games because he has given up 8 run sin 2.1 IP for a 30.86 ERA.
In the minors 20 year old Orlando Arcia is hitting .400 in AAA through 14 games. 556 vs LHP. Taylor Jungman has a 2.30 ERA in 31.1 IP. If our 3-5 guys dont get it together someone could lose their job soon. Victor Roache is hitting .313 with 6 HR and 18 RBI in 16 games for AA. And Hobbs Johnson is 3-0 with a 1.53 ERA in 4 starts.
10 of our 29 games in May are against teams leading their division. With 6 more game against teams with winning records.
Edit - Just had a great game. Playing Chicago down 3-2 bottom 9. Braun singles and then Adam lind drives him home with a double to tie the game. Top 15th give up 2 hits a 2 walks to give Chicago a 4-3 lead. Bottom 15th Lucroy doubles with 1 out. Gennett pops out and then Braun hits a no doubt walk off HR.Last edited by HozAndMoose; 06-02-2015, 06:19 PM.Comment

Re: MLB 15 Franchise Progress Thread
Season #3 with Pittsburgh ('14 carry over save, 2016)
Started off the season behind a great pitching effort from all my starters in their first start and went 4-1 to open up the year.
I then fell on my face and lost 7 straight. It was so frustrating. I kept SP's in too long and it cost me dearly. I'm going to roll with 8 in the pen now and put Steve Lombardozzi in the minors. I just don't really use him at all.
Let's state some of my early season issues:
Gerrit Cole is 0-2 and his control has been terrible
Offense power numbers are way down, Cutch has 0 HR after his 35 HR 2015 season
Bullpen is struggling mightily after being a strength in 2015
Neil Walker, Trevor Plouffe, and Gregory Polanco are around the Mendoza line with 2 HR combined
I just can't get big hits. No power. Bullpen sucks. Starters give up big innings.
The bright spot: Pedro Alvarez has 4 HR & 15 RBI and I'm in the 13th game right now. I'm up 5-0 on CIN but had to save it as I couldn't finish.
Injury: Josh Harrison tore his MCL and will be out 6+ months so basically the entire season. It's not a huge deal because he was a bench player. He's not the out of the box player on '15.
Call up: SS Allen Hanson finally makes his way on the MLB roster. A POT SS who is 23 years old and a switch hitter. In the Cincy game he's 2-3 with a triple to start his 2015 season. If Plouffe continues to struggle I might deal Plouffe and start Hanson. Plouffe hit .277 with 22 HR last season and just can't get it going early on.SOS Madden League (PS4) | League Archives

Re: MLB 15 Franchise Progress Thread
My Braves franchise update through 15 games. Not good! My record is 5-10 4.5GB, so the division leading Nats haven't ran hide on me like they did in my 14' version of the Show. They won 17 games in a row, but anyways.
Offensively, the team is his hitting .282, but slugging pct. is @ .362. That won't get it done with my team overall pitching ERA @ 4.02.
EY Jr. is leading the team with a BA .373,12SB, 9R. Heyward is doing good out a 3rd spot in the line up. Batting .367, HR, 7RBI & 4SB. Freeman is lil funk as of now, but he's leading the team with 2HR, 10RBI.
Pitching wise. Mike Minor is leading the staff. With an ERA of 2.49 & 2-0 record. Teheran, Miller, Wood & Folty ERA's are over 4.25. Yikes! Upcoming series with the fighting Phils. They're at 6-10. Series opener Julio vs. Mr. Lee...Comment

Re: MLB 15 Franchise Progress Thread
<table><td bgcolor=#000F30>End of May - 2015</td></table>
Well that month wasn't so bad. 17-12 in May to bring us to 28-23 on the year. 2nd place in the Central, 3 games behind STL and leading the Wild Card.
Pitching was fantastic. Team allowed 3.1 runs on AVG through the 29 games. And has allowed the least HR in the majors so far. Kyle Lohse has the highest ERA of our starters now. 3.05. Matt Garza has the lowest at 2.73. Bullpen was alright. K-Rod has 14 saves with a 1.93 ERA. Tyler Thornburg has a 0.73 ERA in 12.7 IP. Jeremy Jeffres has a 1.67 ERA in 27 IP.
Offense is doing alright. Lucroy leads the team with a .303 AVG. Lind leads the team with 9 HR and 29 RBI. Segura has the most SB with 12 and Carlos Gomez has the most runs with 24. Ramirez and Davis need to step up. Ramirez has 21 RBI but is only hitting .220. Davis only has 13 RBI and is hitting .214.
In AAA, Louis Sardinas is hitting .333 with a .384 OBP in 44 games. Orlando Arcia cooled off after hitting .400 in April. He is not at .277. Taylor Jungmann has a 3.16 ERA in 68.1 IP.
In AA, Tyler Wagner is 6-2 with a 2.49 ERA and 61 SO in 68.2 IP. Hobbs Johnson has a 2.90 ERA in 68.1 IP. Victor Raoche hit another 6 HR with 14 RBI in May but his AVG fell all the way to .233. Best hitting down there is Jason Rodgers hitting .295 with a .371 OBP and 20 RBI.
Had a pretty good draft. I picked the 1st two guys and let the CPU pick the rest.
1st round i took 20 year old LF Austin Beyer. 70 OVR with 90 POT. 57/75 CON, 51/57 POW, 24 FLD and 72 SPD. Has 1st base as a 2nd position (some how has LF as one as well???) so that is where he will most likely play until his defense gets a bit better.
2nd round i picked 21 year old SP Johnny Crum. 61 OVR with 81 POT. 99 velocity, mid 50's on his K and BB/ and 33 H/9.
3rd round we got 22 year old SP Diego Moreno. Not gonna strike a lot of guys out but has really good control.
4th round we took 18 year old 3B Julio Mejia. 52 OVR with 93 POT. If everything goes good he could be .280 guy with 25 HR.
5th round we took 21 year old 1B Miguel Ramos. 45 OVR with 73 POT. Gonna be tough for him to reach that potential probably.
6th round we picked 18 year old 1B Tom Beckham. 55 OVR with 62 POT. Really good hitter so i think he might be able to perform well enough to increase to C potential and possibly help the team after awhile.
7th round we took 18 year old RP Rickey Hooper. Dude is a bum.Last edited by HozAndMoose; 06-03-2015, 11:44 PM.Comment

Re: MLB 15 Franchise Progress Thread
My Royals Franchise has hit a bit of a Snag, now sitting at 6-5 on the year. Playing on H.O.F. with P.A.D.'s sliders (Regardless of what I think of the guy, his sliders are great.) Having real trouble hitting the Fastball if I am not looking for it recently, Blew a serious chance to get a comeback win tonight through such. Hitting the Practice mode just to get my timing back, this will take as long as it needs to so I can find my "Good" Timing back.
One of the Major Issues thus far and this is may very well just be not my day, only have 2 Home Runs to date (Both by Alex Gordon in Anaheim).
The only two Major Transactions of Note I have made and I don't plan to make many ( because I believe that if you make trade after trade, you ruin the authenticity and therefore any realism; thus in turn not making the game fun or challenging) are:

Re: MLB 15 Franchise Progress Thread
Thought I'd join in on the action. Playing with OSFM v1 rosters, and as my New York Metsies. Before I knew how good Osuna was on the Jays, I actually traded Gee for him straight up before the year started, and sent him down to AAA. Whoops.
Anyway, I always adjust my sliders after every couple of games, to make it as realistic as possible or where I feel comfortable and not sucking or destroying. To start off the year, I swept the Nationals with the 123 punch of Harvey, deGrom and Wheeler. Neise and Colon round out my rotation.
I always change my lineup around too, and keep it pretty up to date with the real life Mets. I recently traded Nieuwenheis like they did (except for a AA pitcher and not cash, cause obviously can't do that) and brought up Cecillani. My lineup is usually: Granderson, Wright, Duda, Cuddyer, Murphy, Flores, dArnaud, Pitcher, Lagares.
After some time spent on the DL, Flores has been actually hitting decently with only a few errors, so I decided to stick with him after almost making a move to send Montero/Cecchini for Segura of the Brew Crew.
I believe I'm on June 3rd, and I sit in first place about 6 games ahead of the Nats. Duda has been destroying, with a .298/16/31 line, but David has just not had it going. He's batting an abysmal .223/7/21. Offense has been seriously unproductive lately, as I keep going late into games before scoring a run if any, while my pitchers always go at least 6 strong if not more. Pitching of course has been the strong stuff.
Harvey is 4-2 with a sub-2 ERA, deGrom is 5-2 with also a sub-2 ERA. Wheeler and Neise have been struggling, Wheeler with a 3.57 era and Neise got lit up last start. Colon is decreasing overall expectedly but still providing innings out of the 5th spot.
Bullpen has been MONSTOROUS. Alex Torres is my least effective weapon, with an ERA just under 5, but Mejia/Familia/Black all have sub-1 ERAs. Carlos Torres and Jerry Blevins have been lights out, and Edgin/Parnell have been decent.
Bench is looking alright. Nothing special to note. Looking to eventually trade Montero in the right trade, as I don't see a spot for him on the roster. Maybe trade for a SS eventually if Flores goes downhill, but for now I'm liking where I stand. Not sure what my record is, but it's 30something-18ish I believe.

Re: MLB 15 Franchise Progress Thread
Marlins just got news that Jose Fernandez will miss the rest of the season. Fortunately, the team is on pace to make franchise history for wins, but this could put a crimp on things with over 3 months to go, not to mention any postseason play.
The Marlins probably have the depth to endure since Andrew Heaney has blossomed along with Boeve's emergence. Aaron Sanchez is also doing well as a #3.
Still, Henderson Alvarez seems to be injury prone lately and has his up-and-down moments, and another injury to the rotation could compromise things. Behind the rotation are promising pitchers, but not well developed just yet. The Marlins got a taste of this with Michael Feliz getting plastered along with Jeff Hader, Quinn Williams, and Trevor Williams. In addition, Hader is on the DL currently.
Offensively, the Marlins have been largely healthy, though that might be changing as well. Stanton was recently put on the DL along with Chris Taylor. That pressed two more rookies into service, Jose Campos and Matt Baldwin - both have been very inconsistent in general.
Fortunately, Carlos Gonzalez and Chris Davis are doing well and Yelich is doing his thing. As long as the supporting cast of bats like Moyer and Solano are doing decently, the offense should be fine.
Davis is looking to follow up a 56 HR season with more of the same, currently at 28 through mid June - currently on pace to match his total from last season. CarGo is leading the NL in batting with a .347 BA. Yelich is starting to warm up as more of his grounders have found holes as he approaches .300.
Will Moyer has been a surprise, batting over .300 with surprising power. Carlos Santana was surprising with his power...but that's has greatly cooled off in the last two months, along with his overall production at the plate.
However, if the injuries continue happening, the Marlins might be in for some tough times. Campos is barely over .200 and Baldwin is around .220, though with some power and incredible speed and outfield range.
On the farm, there's been a disappointing amount of progress from some prospects. Michael Feliz continues to underachieve what his scouts believe his ability to be. His future might be called into question if he can't turn things around.
Tyler Kolek has also had slower-than-desired progress. The big issue with him coming out of the draft was command, and that issue remains. This lack of control is betraying his stuff and hindering his progress. Secondary pitches were also a question mark...and unfortunately still is.
Colin Moran has made next to no progress and is not displaying much production. His value is looking to be more on the defensive side. He can stroke line drives but still strikes out too much and is too prone to falling into bad habits at the plate. His defense will likely get him to stick in the majors eventually, but starting might be a different matter. He'll get another chance to make in impression with Chris Taylor out. Campos will be starting, so Moran will get the utlity role at 1B/3B for the time being.
Sam Brito, a powerful young 1B, is finding life a struggle in AA due to his inability to make consistent contact. Scouts are very concerned about his lack of progress with strike zone judgment or developing some smarts at the plate. He's a little more consistent vs LHP, but he'll need to straighten things out.Last edited by KBLover; 06-05-2015, 12:45 AM."Some people call it butterflies, but to him, it probably feels like pterodactyls in his stomach." --Plesac in MLB18Comment
