Re: Official MLB The Show 16 Fantasy Draft Franchise Progress Thread
Francisco Lindor has been placed on the 15 day DL and is expected to miss 1-2 months after fracturing his forearm in a freak injury sliding into second base on a take out slide to break up a double play.
Miguel Tejada was called up from AAA and will platoon with rookie Jacob Herzberg.

Game 2 of 162: Cubs (1-0) @ Angels (0-1)
Final: Cubs 7 Angels 3
Recap: One hell of a game here, even if the game does not show it. We entered the game with the same mentality of not swinging until the opposing pitcher throws us a strike. It started off well, jumping on Andrew Cashner early. Gomez drew a lead off walk, followed by a couple of hits to jump to a 2-0 lead. We then went hitless for what felt like 5-6 innings, even though we were getting Cashners pitch count up. Nola pitched well, although he pitched himself into a jam in the 3rd and allowed the angels to tie it, followed by a solo homer in the fourth by Dominic Brown to take the 3-2 lead. In the 8th, I allowed Nola to take the mound in the 8th with a 93 PC. He got out of it with no harm done, and was rewarded so. In the top of the 9th, Glen Perkins came in for the save. Arenado was first up to bat, and the word from the dugout was to jump on anything good. After working a 1-1 count, Perkins hung a slider and Arenado took the ball yard! Tie game! The onslaught had only just begun. Soler then singled, Mazara bunted him over, 1 out. Tie game. Castillo then rips a ball over the LF head, driving in Soler to take the lead. Castillo was thrown out going to second. Two outs. White draws a walk, Holt lines a single into the outfield, then up comes Carlos Gomez. BOOM BABY! 1-2 pitch is driven into the stands as the Cubs took a 7-3 lead. Uehara came in and got the job done in the 9th! 2-0 to start the year.
POTG: Carlos Gomez (2 for 4, HR, 3 RBI, 2 R)

Game 3 of 162: Cubs (2-0) @ D'Backs (0-2)

I'm tied in a 3-3 game in the 7th. Peavy held his own against Richards. Another Yankee thrown out at the plate early on, this time Jackson to Correa to Hundley to end the inning. Game is saved at the moment. Had some stuff to take care of.MLB The Show 20

Bats still haven't shown up, again held to 1 run and they got that one in the 9th.
Taijuan Walker was solid, just no run support at all. This time it was Pineda that shut the Red Sox down.
Bright spot in the game was Trumbo with a PH RBI single and Chris Carter went 2-for-3 with a walk.
Red Sox will try to avoid the sweep with Brandon Finnegan on the mound."Some people call it butterflies, but to him, it probably feels like pterodactyls in his stomach." --Plesac in MLB18Comment

Re: Official MLB The Show 16 Fantasy Draft Franchise Progress Thread
TRADE UPDATE
The Cubs are off to a good start to the season, at 2-1. It is early, and perhaps it was a bit early to rush into a decision, however the Cubs have made two trades which change the landscape of their team as a whole.
TRADE 1:
Cubs Acquire: Dee Gordon, 2B (TURNS OUT HE DIDNT DO PEDS AMIRITE)
Marlins Acquire: Yoan Moncada (2B), SP R.A. Dickey, Byron Buxton (CF)
TRADE 2:
Cubs Acquire: A.J. Pollock (CF), SP Jose Quintana
Rangers Acquire: Carlos Gomez (CF), C Wilson Contreras, 1B Rhys Hoskins
Reasoning: Carlos Gomez was not the lead off man I had wanted, and although his fielding was good, it wasn't what I wanted as a player. The trade for Dee Gordon is because he is the ideal lead off man, and a respectable 2B. This also gives me room to have Brock Holt on the bench. I then traded Yoan Moncada, a fantastic prospect, along with Buxton AND Dickey. I was able to pick up Pollock to cover CF, which is a negative as far as his fielding ability compared to Gomez, however i feel his bat and young age make up for that. Squeezing in Quintana to the deal salvaged my Pitching as well.

Woh. I understand what Dee Gordon can bring to the game, but isn't that overpaying ? Both Buxton and Moncada are very high A's in the game...Comment

Playing to win now. However, considering I can bring the franchise over into next hears game, I may do another team for more long term and not do trades like that.Comment

Re: Official MLB The Show 16 Fantasy Draft Franchise Progress Thread
You better win...and Gordon better be the spark that ignites it with that kind of price.
I might could see one of them, Moncada mostly since Gordon is a mid infielder as well, but Buxton, too...I'd have to get someone like Machado or someone top tier for that haul...
I hope it works for you!"Some people call it butterflies, but to him, it probably feels like pterodactyls in his stomach." --Plesac in MLB18Comment

Re: Official MLB The Show 16 Fantasy Draft Franchise Progress Thread
Because they can develop. I mean, I play every game in my main Marlins franchise (carried from MLB14, currently in year 7) and no way I'd part with my high A-pot prospects lightly. Some of them, like my ace, were A prospects back in MLB14 that I've raised up into superstars.
I'm expecting Buxton to rapidly develop with training to Contact to help him do better, which will boost his development. Same for all the A guys I got.
And even then - Buxton could go for another big piece. He's got HIGH value to the CPU teams because he's 22 and like 95 POT or something. If I was in pure win now mode, I'd stash him in AAA until a chance to add another big piece came along. Heck, package him with some other stuff and snag a Trout (player, not fish lol) or something.
I don't know, I just can't part with A-rated prospects so lightly."Some people call it butterflies, but to him, it probably feels like pterodactyls in his stomach." --Plesac in MLB18Comment
