2017 season has finally come to an end. For us anyway. We were able to avoid the 100 in the loss column. Finishing at 66-96. Last place in the Central. 2nd worst in the AL. And tied for 3rd worst in the Majors. Not the season we were hoping for at all. But with the moves made at the AS break and our prospects performances i dont think we will be down long. Or at least I hope so.
    Spoiler

Alex Gordon lead the team in WAR at 3.2. Tied his career high with 23 HR while hitting .246/.328/.422. Most surprising player was probably Alcides Escobar. Expected him to hit around .250 with an OBP under .300. But he finished with a .276 AVG and .313 OBP while hitting 35 doubles. Salvador Perez and Mike Moustakas are tied for most disappointing. Moose hit .224/.294/.394 with 21 HR. Expected him to be a lot closer to his 2015 form where he hit .284/.348/.470. And Salvador Perez hit .233/.282/.359 with 16 HR. Not exactly surprised his AVG and OBP were so low. Expected the HR and doubles to be higher than they were though helping that SLG out.

    Offensive Stats
    Spoiler

On the pitching side Danny Duffy had the best season of his career by far. Finished 13-9 with a 2.47 ERA, 2.50 FPI, 216 strikeouts to 47 walks in 208 IP. Lead AL pitchers in WAR with (6.5), ERA, 2nd in HR allowed (14) and strikeouts and tied for 6th in IP. Yet somehow wasnt even top 3 in Cy Young voting. Rick Procello won with a 19-6 record, 2.99 ERA, 3.40 FPI, 185 K's, 45 BBs in 214 IP. Kelvin Herrera ended up as the best reliever after struggling early to start the season. Finished with 36 saves a 2.58 ERA and 3.66 FIP. Nate Karns had to be the worst pitcher for us. He finished with a 5.92 ERA in 55 games. 10 of them starts.

Kelvin Herrera, Mike Moustakas, Alcides Escobar, and Mike Minor are going to be Free Agents. Herrera and Moose are the main priorities. Not sure how much money we are going to have to spend though.

Just threw a no hitter with 13 K's with Andrew Cashner in my Rangers franchise. 3-0 win over the A's to stop a 3 game skid.

      I feel crazy.

I just got one broken up with 1 out in the 9th. Really weird game as Yovani Gallardo walked 7 and only struck out 5.

I will ask this question in this thread as well. Do we consider quick manage in franchise mode to be realistic? Like produce realistic stats? I'm interested in more of a GM role in franchise mode while having control over lineups.

I'm imagining a storyline where the Rays are taken over by wealthier owners (they signed a couple other guys too).
Cutch in Tampa might make more sense than you realize... he was drafted out of Ft Meade HS in Florida. It's less than a two hour drive from the Trop.

Traded to Texas at the all star break. Then signed with Cubs in free agency. No idea where the hell they plan to play him.

Eh not the weirdest signing that could happen. Not any weirder than the Yankees signing A-Rod and moving him to third or Detroit signing Prince fielder and moving Miggy to third. The Braves even moved Chipper Jones to LF in the early 2000's.

Finding hitting frustrating this year, not sure if its the camera angles or what, harder to pick up the ball.

well I started a new franchise with the Tigers after i ended my Mariners franchise early (long story). Stat wise, this has been much more realistic. I had 43 HRs with the Ms through 18 games and currently, I have 10 hrs through 8 games with the Tigers. Up until last game I had 4, then I blasted 6 in one game and still lost 8-7 in 13. We sit at 4-4 currently. Pitching has been decent. All of my starters outside of Boyd have been good to great while the bullpen has been shaky but not terrible. K Rod has 4 saves and still hasnt given up a hit.

Hitting wise, not so good. We are batting a measly .200 with miggy leading the team with a .281 avg. V mart and JD are tied with 3 HRs a piece and V Mart is starting to get hot. I botched and added Coco Crisp early to play CF since I wasn't confident in Jacoby Jones. He is hitting .111. I think a trade for a CF and a reliever is in the works for the future. Kinsler has also been awful but has started to pick things up, homering in the bottom of the 9th with 2 outs to tie it 7-7 last game. Regardless, I'm having fun but really need to win this next game against MN. it'll be Norris v Duffey

At 42 with diminishing vision and fine motor reflexes, I find it liberating that I feel no remorse about slowing pitch speed to make the game more playable for me. Otherwise, I'm just guessing. I say find the speed where have SOME time to react to good fastballs, changes kill you most of the time, and you ALWAYS have to guess against Chapman.

End Of May Update in my Braves franchise.

We're now at 24-29 at 453% and 14GB from first place. We are 4th in the division behind the Nationals, Mets and Marlins. Here's the NL East Standings:
                              1: Nationals 38-15
                              2: Mets 30-23 8.0GB
                              3: Marlins 28-24 9.5GB
                              4: Braves 24-29 14.0GB
                              5: Phillies 23-29 14.5GB

We went 16-14 in May. Julio Teheran will be returning in 1-6 days. A bit disappointing of a position to be in, I was hoping the team would be more competitive still at this point in the season. Brought in 3B Alex Liddi from free agency on 5/7 on a 1 year 1.40M contract to be a backup and replace C Anthony Recker on the bench which brought us back to the standard 2 catchers. Freeman's been having a good year hitting 293 with a league leading 20 HR's and 45 RBI's with a 352 OBP. Kemps doing good as well with a solid 312 average and 12 HR's. Adonis Garcia is surprising with a 303 average with 8 HR's and 27 RBI's.

In the Minors Ozzie Albies isn't doing so well at AAA hitting 220 with 10 RBI's which isn't a good sign as Swanson and him are supposed to be the future up the middle for us. Ryan Howard's career revival attempt isn't going very well as he's hitting 244 with 8 HR's at AAA. 3B Rio Ruiz is hitting solid though batting cleanup at AAA with a 315 average and 5HR's with 28 RBI's while being currently on fire. If he keeps it up he'll be getting a call up. No standout position players at AA except for CF Ronald Acuna who's hitting 292 with 13 RBI's.

In the major league rotation no one has a ERA below 3.00 No one in the pen have been able to be lights out for us. In AAA the trio of David Hernandez, Akeel Morris, and Rex Brothers are pitching solid so one of them may be earning a call up soon. Aaron Blair has been a small disappointment so far at AAA with a 4.62 ERA. None of our minor league starting pitching prospects are really excelling. AJ Minter has been dominating at AA in a setup role with a 0.00 ERA with 22 SO's in 18 innings so he will likely be headed for AAA soon.

The draft is over. Here's who we drafted:
LF Timothy Gutu 21 years old 93 A potential 60 OVR
RP Kevin Crump 19 years old 76 C potential 63 OVR
SP Michael Cannizaro 20 years old 79 C potential 59 OVR
                              C Carlos Mota 18 years old 72 C potential 55 OVR
SS Art Hebert 21 years old 86 B potential 63 OVR
RF Jared Butler 22 years old 87 B potential 49 OVR
SP Armando Francisco 19 years old 89 B potential 59 OVR.

To start off June we have a 3 game series at Cincinnati. Currently Freddie Freeman leads the NL MVP race and the NL 1B All Star voting.
