Crazy how things shake out differently.

Quick question, what do you set your Injuries for? I set my based on the sliders from the other forum and I feel like I have so many injuries.

I actually haven't touched the injury spider this year. I've found it seems decently balanced on default. I may knock it down a little but so far I've been pleased.

Took a couple day off from playing my franchise. Got a game in today and it was the type of game that makes me love The Show.

My Ace Hammel gives up 3 in the first, partially due to an error because I am had some bum backing up Rizzo for an off day. D-Back's are red hot, like 8-2 in last ten and whipped our butts the prior night. Bat's can't get anything going, didn't get the first hit until the 7th. We squeeze out a run to make it 3-1 due to a crafty double switch where I brought in my rookie Scruggs for Alcantara to get a better bat into the game. Top of the night we claw to get a man on base. Scruggs up with 2 outs, I sit on a high pitch (guess is off). Scruggs get the pitch and blast it into the bleachers. Rendon crushes a pitch out in the 10th that ricochets off on the LED boards. We hold to win and move to 44-25 on the year. Felt good after struggling to fight and claw to win a ball game.

How do you guys deal with live roster updates? Last year I didn't do anything, but I feel like this year I'd quite like to have players improve like they do in real life, otherwise theres no way players will develop as quickly as they actually should. I essentially looked for the players who got a big boost and gave them the same boost on my franchise, as I'm at about the same point in the season as we are in real life.

Not sure how I'm going to handle it going forwards, but I do like the idea of prospects really bursting onto the scene, with the huge 15-20 point bumps they get in the live rosters

Re: MLB The Show 17 Franchise Discussion Thread

Just started a Miami Marlins franchise and I'm 24-24 to start the season. Pitching has been pretty solid surprisingly. Tom Koehler has been my only bad pitcher but he's going to be the long man when Straily's back from injury.

Only problem is I have like 0 prospect. Braxton Garrett is an A potential pitcher and only 19 but that's like it. The only guy in the minors besides him that's above a C potential is Jarlin Garcia but he's a 62 and a B and 24 years old. He COULD turn out to be a rotation guy eventually but I'm in dire need of some prospects bad.

I was thinking about trading Martin Prado and trying to get a decent prospect back for him. Idk if I'd get much and I'm a Prado fan so I'm not THRILLED about the idea, especially since he's playing pretty well batting like .260 with a couple homers and 10+ RBI's, but Alex Liddi from Italy is available in free agency and he's a few years younger and I think can play a similar role and bat in the #2 spot. I think I'm going after Liddi regardless, if not to play everyday he can sit in AAA. I figure in two years Prado will start regressing bad at 35 and Liddi (B potential) will be OK at 30. I wonder if his rating will go up to like a 75 or so. That would be ideal if he progresses a little.

Hechavarria is another guy I could maybe get some prospects for. But I'm not sold, he's a solid defensive SS and he's hitting better right now (.218). Plus we don't have anyone to replace him, JT Riddle isn't exactly a worldbeater with a C potential and a 60 something rating. Same with Ozuna in left field.

Dee Gordon is killing it lead off and Yelich is killing it in the #3 spot so I don't think I'd trade either of those guys. Giancarlo Stanton is going to 100% retire a Marlin if I have anything to say about it so he's untradeable, but he is struggling with his batting average, idk what to do about that.

Game 70 - We pick up a 6-2 win over the D-Backs at Chase field. Felt good to pick up 6 runs without a long ball. We move to 45-25 on the season.

Stats look good except I'm not walking the CPU nearly enough on Legend. Might need to turn off the visual adds. First year I'm not last in walking and DP but near the bottom in both. Still, we are much improved in those categories.

We are ahead by about 15 HR's right now, but I think it might even out over the rest of the season with the patch. Only played a few games with it so don't have a feel yet.

I hope you're having fun with Miami. Martin Prado went off in my franchise with a .310 Average and 16 HR's which is, I believe, a career high in power numbers (at all-star break). Boston needed a 3B bad so I shipped him off to them and got a 1 B and 1 C prospect and I felt that was fair.

Sign Otani off the free agents if your using OSFM. That will give you a sold pitching prospect that will likely be MLB ready in 2018 and it's not out of the realm of possibility as far as realism goes, either (in my opinion).

Season 2 is about to begin.

Kevin Cash takes over as the new Farm Director for the Padres. Richard Nieves is our new Hitting coach, and Rob Moffett takes over as the new pitching coach.

I forgot to congratulate the 2017 San Antonio Missions AA team for winning the Texas League Title!! The future is almost here.

The Padre Youth movement continues, and the 2nd wave of young talent is ready to make an impact. The bullpen remains virtually untouched from last year.

I played way Back MLB on PS Vita long time ago, so would like to ask as I have PS4 And want to start a new franschise, which team would you reccomend me to go with. I'm kind of person looking for Challenge, So would like to have some good prospects aswell as some trade material to work with. I'm not nessessarilly looking for a strong team, but aswell for a team I could root for in real life this season. Most of all I enjoy heavy hitters If thats the right name for it...guys with lot of homeruns. Sorry I'm newbie, maybe my questions May sound bit silly.

Definitely San Diego is a team you should look at. Some intriguing young prospects, a couple of good bats in the lineup already, but definitely an area you could probably improve by trading a couple of prospects. Plus, they play in a beautiful ballpark. Other options would be the Braves or White Sox.

Some intriguing young prospects, a couple of good bats in the lineup already, but definitely an area you could probably improve by trading a couple of prospects. Plus, they play in a beautiful ballpark. Other options would be the Braves or White Sox.
Agreed. In the game (Padres) you have Myers, Renfroe, Schimpf and Solarte who rake and hit bombs, plus speed with Margot, Jankowski and Cordoba. Another good young catcher to build around in Hedges. You can get rid of 4/5ths of the starting rotation (Just keep Perdomo). In real life, the lower minors are STACKED with talent, unfortunately however, a lot of them did not make it into OSMF since they are all so far away and no where near contributing so if you wanted them all you'd have to do some tweaking, or I could throw something together for you real quick and put it in the vault. The ballpark is also one of the tops in the league as mentioned.

Struggling to get any production from my LF spot. I've sent down Carrera and called up Pompey to hopefully Spark something on the bases. Also, salty is struggling. I might look to get a better contact hitting Catcher.

Any suggestions of 3rd/4th OF types I could trade for with some contact and speed? Or some backup catchers that could be available?
