Called up Taylor Rodgers to assume the long relief spot and he's been solid.

Need to start hitting...and pitching...and developing talent. So basically everything.

The only positive is that some of my young core guys are doing pretty decent.
As a Twins fan, and running my own Twins franchise I have a few tips.

    - Let go of Tepesch and Danny Santana
    - Call up Jose Berrios
    - Move Tyler Duffey to the bullpen
    - Trade Brian Dozier while his value his high, it will never be higher.
    - Call up Kennys Vargas, and start him at 1B against LHP

I'll let Tepesch/Santana hang in there until they are just horrible. MiLB is just empty right now

Berrios will be up if he does well in AAA. Trying to make his in-game performance mean something to my method. I'll look for this after ASB or if he has an incredible month or an injury to a SP happens.

Will consider Duffey to the pen. Lack of a CH hurts his repertoire.

Dozier is now hitting like .320 so yea he might be on the move near the trade deadline. I just don't see myself contending in the next couple years so some good future returns would be nice.

Vargas is already up and hits against RHP. He's doing alright...I think like 260 with a couple bombs.

It's going to be a fun project.

Side note: My backup catcher Chris Gimenez was like 3/45 on the season and I went 4/5 with him in my last game with 4 singles and the 5th AB it took a diving stop to get him out. He's finally above .100!

Played two games so far in my Braves franchise. Julio Teheran looked really good, Jaime Garcia gave up 9 runs in like 4 innings (YIKES!)

Freddie Freeman and Matt Kemp seem to hit everything, then it goes downhill from there.

Well, the long rebulding season continue for the 2017 San Diego Padres. It's now June 2nd, and the Padres are 20-36 good enogh for 5th place in the NL West 14 games back.

The young position players are developing but our pitching prospects are just not major league ready. We also completed the draft with what I would term mixed results.

Re: MLB The Show 17 Franchise Discussion Thread

I'm not annoyed that my Reds team found a way to win the 2017 World Series. I am annoyed by the fact that it feels like I don't have much to accomplish in 2018 or 2019 at this point.

We finished the regular season 27 games behind the Cubs. Got the last wild card slot by 1 game over the Mets. The other WC? Yeah, the 105 win Dodgers took that one while my 84 win Reds snuck in on the last game of the season only because the Mets lost as well.

Beat the Dodgers in the WC. Beat the Cubs 3-1 in the Divisional and then the Giants 4-1 in the ALCS. Took on the Red Sox in the World Series and beat them 4-1.

I was extremely happy with how the regular season went. Making the playoffs was a contract goal. I figured my pitching staff was a year or two from truly competing. They were good enough in 2017, apparently.

Joe Votto took home the MVP with a .326 Avg, 45 HR and 170 RBI. My big pieces are still going to be in place.

This team reminded me of the 1990 Reds. Good enough to cheer for, but surprisingly good enough to take it to much better teams.

            Now, for the offseason.

I would take this to the trade deadline and if you are within 5 games of first stay the course, if not start to build for the future.

Fighting to stay around .500 all season in my Yankees franchise, currently 47-47 following a 3 game win streak. Sanchez will be back from his DL stint in just over 2 weeks and will bring much needed help. He was hitting .323-14-37 through 51 games prior to getting hurt. (Austin Romine is only hitting .210 in his place) Severino and Brian Mitchell are currently on the DL too and Sevy was my most consistent pitcher at the time he was injured.

Two bright spots. Greg Bird is doing much better than in RL, .294-19-44 and James Kaprielian has been a pleasant surprise after being pressed into duty a year ahead of my plan due to injuries. He is currently 4-1, 3.47 with a 1.24 WHIP. Has only given up 26 hits in 42 innings pitched, but wildness has dogged him as he also has 26 walks and frequently has high pitch counts by the 6th inning. Chase Headley was hitting below .200 entering June, but has gotten hot and is currently at .243 and is tied with Starlin Castro for the team lead in doubles with 24.

I really want to blow it up. Hopefully we go into a slump.

It's your world, handle it how you want. If it was me and being 5 games out, I would be looking to add a bat that can handle left handed pitching and some pitching. Then look at it again in a month.

I just don't think I'll resign any of those guys and hamels has a year left. Rumors are Darvish doesn't like me the GM and wants out of texas.

                          End of August - 2018

The team is playing the best it has all season. It only took almost 5 full months. And comes at a point where it will not matter at all. 54-81 heading into the last month of the season. Currently have a 5 game win streak and have won 7 of our last 10. Even with that we are still stuck in last place in the division. But the Twins are doing their best to let us move up a spot. Only 1.5 games ahead of us thanks to an 11 game losing streak. The A's and Padres are the only teams worse than us.

Playoff race is a lot more exciting than it was this time last year. In the AL 9 teams have what I would say is a realistic chance to make the playoffs. Over in the NL things arent as good. Nats, Cubs and Dodgers all have a 6+ game lead over 2nd place. Giants and Marlins currently lead the wild card with the Cards and Pirates withing 2 games.

                          Standings
                          Spoiler

Offense really hasn't changed at all. Still averaging about 3.4 runs per game. And thats kind of surprising cause Moose has been a completely different player than he was in the 1st half. He had 19 HR and 49 RBI coming out of the break and has hit just 3 HR with 12 RBI. Raul Mondesi has helped make up for a bit of that power loss. He has 9 HR on the season now. 5 Since the All Star Break. The kid is about to be the face of this team here soon. Salvador Perez meanwhile has been complete garbage after his hot start to the season. Average down to .250. OBP back under .300. He hasnt had an OBP over .300 since 2013. His defense is still fantastic. But man has his bat sucked.

Pitching has been about the same as well. Maybe a bit worse. Matt Strahm leads the starters with a 3.43 ERA in 149.2 IP. Danny Duffy leads the starters in WAR at 3.8. Tyler Beede has the highest ERA at 6.11. He was called back on at the trade deadline when we sent Jason Hammel to the Rangers for 2B Evan Van Hooseir. He has a 4.46 ERA in 6 starts since then. And a 2.77 ERA in his last 4 starts. Soria and Wood are still the only relievers with an ERA over 3. Jeff Walters leads the bullpen with a 1.51 ERA in 35.2 IP.

                          Notable Prospects

Texas Rangers Update Season 1 : MOM

Well season 1 has come to an end and all I have to say is what a dissapointment. We finished the season 70-92 (Fourth in the AL West). The Astros won the division with the Mariners receiving one of the Wild Cards. The playoffs saw a rematch of last years ALCS with the Blue Jays and Indians. This time the Blue Jays prevailed in 6 games to advance to the World Series. In the National League it was the Dodgers beating the Wild Card Giants in 6 games. The World Series went to LA in 6 games. Joc Pederson was named World Series MVP.

As far as my team, I was lead by Tanner Roark with 18 wins. A great trade acquistion. Adrian Beltre will return for what is likely his final season. He hit 298 and had 17HR's with 82 RBI's. Choo led my team with 23 HR's and 89 RBI's.

The offseason was rough. McCutchen signed with the Angels. I lost Darvish and Lucroy and gained only Hellickson and Jordy Mercer of significance.

My lineup going in to spring looks like this

C- Chirinos/ Thole signed as backup
1B- Chris Carter- Acquired at trade deadline
                            2B- Odor
                            SS- Elvis
                            3B- Beltre
                            LF- Mazara
                            CF- Gallo
                            RF- Choo
DH- Up for Grabs maybe Mercer

                            Pitching

                            1. Roark
                            2. Hamels
                            3. Hellickson
                            4. Perez
                            5. ?

Bullpen ( Shacky going in to Spring)

Scary - I played as the Dodgers and won the world series in 2017, winning the wild card then playing cubs, giants and finally the red sox too. And we finished the regular season 2nd one game behind the giants winning 100 games..hmmm

My Twins suck at 30-55 so I'm not doing updates for the rest of this season. Well maybe a draft recap and the trade deadline info. Then I'm going to sim the rest of the season.
