      All-Star Break - 2018

First half of the season over and we contunie to limp along sitting at 38-51. 4th in the Central. 3 games ahead of the White Sox for last and 12.5 behind the Indians and Tigers who are tied for first. The playoff races seem to be looking a little better than last year. Obviously the Indians and Tigers are tied. Astros, Rangers and Mariners are all within 4 games of the leading Angels. While the Giants and Dodgers are also tied for the NL West lead.

      Standings
      Spoiler

The offense has somehow made it up to 26th in runs scored with 310. Cardinals, Mets, Braves and Padres are all worse than us now. We are hitting .244/.299/.392 as team. Thats 24th, 30th and 22nd in the majors. We are tied for 14th in doubles with 150. Tied for 19th in triples with 15 and 17th in Home Runs with 90. Our biggest issue has to be walks. We have just 215. Last in the majors by 23.

Mike Moustakas is on pace to hit 34 home runs. That would be 2 away from tying the team record held by Steve Balboni. he is currently hitting .277/.340/.503 with 19 HR and 49 RBI. And leads the team with a 3.1 WAR. Was also the only player we sent to the All Star game. Salvy has gone pretty cold after his hot start coming off the DL. Currently hitting .280/.313/.460 with 9 HR and 25 RBI. Bubba Starling has been a pretty good surprise so far. hitting .282/.353/.417 with 4 HR and 7 SB. It took quite a long time but he seems to have finally figured things out. On the other end Alcides Escobar has just been completely worthless. Hitting just .209/.347/.281. Jurickson Profar has pretty much taken his spot in the lineup. Pretty much a guarantee at this point that we dont pick up his team option. Jorge Soler really hasnt been much better. .235/.289/.432 with 11 HR and 24 RBI. He was benched for awhile as well. Coming out of the break he will only be starting against lefties.

Not that much has changed with the pitching. We are 24th in ERA at 4.15, 22nd in HR allowed with 106, 21st in Strikeouts with 690. About the only thing we are somewhat good at is not walking anyone. Tied for 11th there with 271.

Matt Strahm has been the best starter so far. 5-4 with a 3.24 ERA, 1.32 WHIP and 93 K's in 100 IP. Jason Hammel isnt far behind, 7-6 with a 3.36 ERA, 1.21 WHIP and 85 K's in 107 IP. And Danny Duffy has started to turn thigns around after struggling through parts of May and June. 5-7 with a 3.70 ERA, 1.31 WHIP and 107 K's in 104.2 IP. Tyler Beede was sent back down to AAA after his start on June 2nd. Kyle Zimmer was recalled and has put up a 3.48 ERA in 6 starts since. Overall he is 3-5 with a 5.19 ERAm 1.41 WHIP and 45 K's in 59 IP. Ryan Webb and Brian Flynn have ERA's under 3 in the pen. Kelvin Herrera is at 3.52 in 30.2 IP. Gonna move him out of the closer role to try and offset Soria and Wood. Soria has a 6.68 ERA in 31.1 IP. And Travis Wood is at 4.66 in 38.2 IP. Seth Maness was sent to AAA with an ERA of 7.77 in 22 IP.

May end up moving Hammels around the deadline. Blue Jays and Rangers are both interested in getting some help in their rotations.

      Had another pretty good draft.

1st round we took 23 year old SP Barry Pedersen. Comes in at 67 overall with A potential. Throws a 4 seam, Curve, Change and Cutter.

      Ratings
      Spoiler

In the 5th we took 22 year old SP Jason Prado (Brother to Austin Prado perhaps???). Comes in at 59 overall with B potential. Throws a 4-seam, Curve, Slider and 2-Seam.

      Ratings
      Spoiler

In the 6th we took 22 year old SP William An. 60 overall with B potential. Only throws a 4-seam, Slider and Curve.

      Ratings
      Spoiler

And in the 7th we took 23 year old SP Kory Davidson. Comes in at 73 overall with C potential. Most major league ready guy we draftd. But probably wont get much better. Throws a 4-seam, Change up, Curve, 2-Seam and Slurve.

      Ratings

Went really heavy on the starters. Has to be our deepest spot in the minors now. Middle Infield needs to really be looked at in the next couple drafts.

I am mid-June now and kind of disappointed in my team. I Believe we not sit at 33-30 and have won 10 out of my last 11. We are still 6.0 back from first place Angels and leading the Wildcard. I was really looking forward to trading some guys off before trade deadline and rebuilding. I was going to move Darvish, Hamels, Lucroy and Gomez for sure.

How bad would it be that even if I am leading, to sell? I want to sell, sell, sell. Just to be fun. I might can resign those listed above, but not sure I want to and in real life I doubt Darvish or Lucroy resign. Thoughts?

Thats allot to give up. Heck your doing better then me, I'm 20 games under 500 at 49-69. I traded Gomez( He was terrible). Isn't Hamels under contract for 1 more year? I'm on the fence with Darvish. As a life long Ranger Fan I'm wondering what the real Rangers do. Do you pay a 30 year old pitcher 30 plus million a year? Typically those contracts backfire (Look at Pujols, Cliff Lee) I'm really on the fence about sighning him to any more then a 5 year contract and am I willing to spend a good portion of my total budget on 1 guy? Heck I am 20 under 500 with him. I will probably keep Lucroy, he is having a great season for me, in real life Texas lets him walk or trades him at the deadline, he is terrible this year and they just locked up Chirinos long term.

Here is the primary lineup I was using most of the time in my Yankees franchise

              Gardner
              Castro
              Ellsbury
              Sanchez
              Judge
              Bird
              Holliday
              Headley
              Gregorius

              Alternate

              Ellsbury
              Castro
              Holliday
              Sanchez
              Bird
              Judge
              Headley
              Gregorius
              Gardner

Of Course Bird is performing much better for me than in RL, .294-17-43 through 85 games. Current lineup is a bit different though as Sanchez is on the DL. He was heading towards a monster year .323-14-37 through 51 games when he got hurt.

Yeah, Hamels, has one year left. It's going to be interesting with the Rangers. I would be surprised if Darvish resigns, so if they continue to struggle, I bet they deal him. I think no matter what, I will make the trades. Fans will riot if we are in contention, but I have to look for the future of the team. Haha

And who knows where I will be sitting come trade deadline.

Broke a 4 game losing streak. That said it's not June yet and we're 12.5 games out. Rebuilding is tough. Draft is coming up in a few days.

Every time I feel like we are going to take the next step I look at the standings and see my Reds over-performing at eight games above .500 and we still trail the Cubs by... 8 games.

Although, Votto is apparently channeling his inner-Mark McGwire and is on pace for 60 HR as we near the ASB.

I don't know if I have the heart to re-sign after this contract if the Cubs keep dominating. It could be interesting as I have made some moves to bring in prospects and traded a few away (Reed, and a couple others).

Maaaaaannnn it's not looking like a fun season. The farm system position players don't look to offer any relief to the horrible hitting of my veterans. Some arms in the minors are looking solid. If we continue to fade I could see a few call ups happen. So far no real call ups have happened. MLB SP Kyle Gibson tore his pectoral and was replaced by Nick Tepesch which is the only major move. Called up Taylor Rodgers to assume the long relief spot and he's been solid.

Need to start hitting...and pitching...and developing talent. So basically everything.

The only positive is that some of my young core guys are doing pretty decent.
