I have Bautista and Tepera day to day on my injuries screen but in manage team or in game the green band-aid isn't by their name. Anyone else seeing this?

Re: MLB The Show 17 Franchise Discussion Thread

Did my first trade with the Braves 60 games in. I traded 3B Austin Riley and Kyle Kubitza to the Cubs for Jeimer Candelario. I did this to add another young infield prospect and to free up a 3B position for Alex Liddi who I also signed. With as good as Adonis Garcia has played it's hard for me to figure out how to get Alex Liddi up to MLB (I immediately put him at AAA) but I think I eventually want Liddi to be the full time 3B and potentially platoon with Rio Ruiz at some point. This would mean Garcia has to play the ouftfield. Problem is I can't really justify benching Markakis either, he's been solid. I think next year there's a good chance Matt Kemp is the odd man out, I might trade his contract it's like 4.6/3 years.

Somebody tell me, am I wasting my time doing a Padres franchise... They freaking STINKKKKKKKKK!

...and yes, those additional Ks on stink are in reference to their discipline.

Currently sitting at 31-20 with the Blue Jays. That is good for 1 game ahead of Boston for first in the AL East. Here is a look of my stats to date (Including players who have been with the big club). I play every pitch of every at bat. Using Armour & Swords & Marino Sliders on All Star hitting/pitching (meter).

I will be moving up my pitching to Hall of Fame from this point as my pitchers have dominated, even with 1/2 control/consistency.

            Hitters:

Re: MLB The Show 17 Franchise Discussion Thread

I must say that I am extremely disappointed with the lack of depth in franchise mode. Correct me if I'm wrong about any of these things.

              - no manager or GM personalities or strategies. Every GM and manager is exactly the same from a strategy perspective.
              - no ability to set depth chart rotation; player rotation is handled solely by durability rating and fatigue
              - AI lineup strategy especially at the top of the order is exactly the opposite of the modern move towards OPS at the expense of speed. Specifically the AI treatment of the #2 hitter is egregiously terrible.
              - There are very few advanced statistics, particularly on defense.

The only depth in franchise mode is that the rules of baseball are themselves somewhat complex. But if you already have a good handle on that, there's basically no depth added by other features. There's scouting and training, and that's about it. There's busy work there, but it would be nice if different organizations would focus on different things. Some GM+manager likes to focus on power and some other ones like to focus on plate discipline, etc. You can't even scout for patient hitters, as far as I can tell.

This is really my first foray into the show's franchise mode, and I must say I'm pretty disappointed. The caveat is, of course, I've played a ton of OOTPB, but the things I mentioned above seem like pre-requisites for an even remotely 'deep' franchise mode.

They definitely could do a lot of things with it but big improvements seem unlikely as they only have one developer working on it. I'd love to see a more complex injury system similar to NBA2k.

A collaboration with OOTPB would be amazing but will never happen.

I think I'm at 53/37 90 games in with the Braves and I'm a few games back now from 1st place but I'm in the top wild card spot. Folty was struggling with like a 6 something ERA so I sent him down to AAA and traded pitching prospect Mike Soroka (like 19/B potential,) Kurt Suzuki, and Adonis Garcia to the Phillies for Vince Velasquez. Gives them a prospect for the future and two veterans. Garcia is having a great season so I hate to get rid of him but I had signed Alex Liddi and have a lot to go to for 3B in the future. Suzuki was solid but I hit a bunch of pop ups when using him so I signed AJ Pierzynski and will platoon him with Tyler Flowers for the rest of the season. Next year I'll figure something else out at catcher. Might sign a free agent or trade for a JT Realmuto type player.

A&S sliders, OSFM rosters, no QM play every game franchise (also known as "no life" settings ).

Drew the Rockies out of a random selection with criteria:
                    - must be an NL team
                    - must have finished under .500 in 2016

So far I'm playing with A&S sliders and OSFM rosters. I'm about half way through spring training and absolutely love the offline portion of this game. Bullpen usage is insane right now, and while I wish AI teams called up young prospects during spring training, it's still a lot of fun to face so many defensive substitutions and pitchers in one game.

One thing I'm a tad concerned about, however, is the trade system. It seems to me as if AI teams don't really care about their "golden boys", so as long as you offer them enough, they will trade away their iconic players without a second thought. I have concerns about how this trade logic will play out over a 162 game season.

I do have one question about AI pitching logic however. I know that depending on what you swing at in RTTS mode, the AI will alter their pitching technique to try to beat you as they build a road map of your tenancies (chasing pitches into the dirt being my greatest challenge). Does the AI also do this in franchise mode? In other words, if you constantly chase dirt balls with Blackmon but hold off with Lemahieu, will the AI pitch differently to both batters respectively?

                    If so
                    Born Seattle, live Denver.

For guys that play all 162. How do you select the team you plan on going with for franchise?

I can only manage to play 162 + with my favourite team. Can never finish franchises that I start that are not the Blue Jays. Might try again this year.

I too am playing as Seattle, sitting at 28-18 2 games ahead of LA Angels in the division. I was having very similar results hitting wise as Cruz and Seager were just ripping the cover off the ball and then Cano and Cruz got injured and have been out for awhile now. How's your pitching going? Outside of Felix the rest of my rotation is up and down, Iwakuma is more up then down and Paxton as well for the most part but Smyly and Heston are far more down then up. My bullpen is either lights out or a complete dumpster fire, basically I never know what type of game I'll get when I start one up.

If you think Zunino is struggling be thankful he is healthy (unlike in my franchise) as good ole Tuffy is the backup to Ruiz and he is now sitting at a healthy 0/24 on the season lol. My offense always seems to figure out a way to score runs (lead the league in fact) but the pitching makes every game interesting. I'm not too bad with Martin, hit 2 HR's with him including the game winning 3-run HR 2 games ago, but Valencia was struggling for me as well and then of course he got injured and has been out even longer then Cruz and Cano.

I'll be curious to see how your season plays out for comparison purposes. What settings and who's sliders are you using?

I always played as my Dodgers every year but after playing all 162 and winning the World Series on last years game I wanted to shake it up. I went with my old home town team in Seattle and just went with it.

I played every game until my last on All Star default hitting and was All Star default meter pitching until the past few games where I moved to Hall of Fame classic. I'm now going to try A&S's fielding, fouls, and baserunning settings but keep the remaining sliders default.

I haven't had many injuries because I was on default until now. Cano did have a 10 day DL stint but other than that I've had only minor injuries. My pitching has been pretty bad and awful recently during my now 6 game losing streak. Paxton has been my best starter but his WHIP has exceeded his ERA. Felix has been generally good but certainly not ace level. Iwakuma and Gollardo have been inconsistent and Smyly was so bad his last start, I sent him down for Miranda.

I am playing default rosters so I do not have real prospects but I do have some good hitting prospects that could be called up. They are a really fun team to play with because they have speed and power. Classic pitching is a whole different ball game. I think I'll give up less homers because I will not be giving up so many meat balls due to missing the meter, but I'll walk a lot more guys. I recently had a game where I walked 8.

I use Armor's as well only differences is my pitching is still on All-Star while he's moved to HOF and my CPU pitching sliders are all default instead of the 4-5-3 setup I believe he has. My stats are pretty solid although my batting average is a bit high and I'd like for that to come down but just finished game 2 of a series at Washington and lost the first one 5-0 and won the second game 8-1.

Let me know how things go as you keep playing. I'll post a stats update once I complete May which will probably be Saturday. Kyle Seager is unreal for me, he's got 28 HR's on the season and I've only played 47 games so he's on pace to hit 96 HR's this season lmao, I pray that number comes way down. The thing is outside of Seager and Cruz (who is injured and has been) nobody else is hitting HR's at an unrealistic pace.

Depends on what you wanna do first season. I myself am a 'play every game' type of guy. I like being responsible for every stat of my team. I also wanted to be a competitor right away so I picked the Cubs. I just wanna win games. I was with the Dbacks first but their ballpark is just hideous to me.

I think the padres are at least three years away from being play off contenders so idk. Id just sim the first couple seasons
