With the new patch i decided to finally say i am going to start fresh and run with the Reds. played my season opener last night... a 17 inning marathon! in the end the red machine comes out on top 6-5. Adam Duvall was 4-7 with a double and 2 RBI. overall this is the best the game has felt since release. EXCELLENT JOB SDS!

Re: MLB The Show 17 Franchise Discussion Thread
In the 3rd season of my Tampa Bay Rays franchise; beat the Indians in the Wildcard matchup after missing the post-season the 1st 2 seasons. Next up were the 97 win Angels who did not have Mike Trout (sidelined with broken hand). We traded the 1st two games then Corey Dickerson hit a game-winning no doubt HR to beat the Angels 4-3. The Angels won Game 4 and then came Game 5. It was a pitchers duel all the way to the very end with the Angels up 1-0. We had man on base with 2 outs and Casey Gillaspie was up to hopefully keep the season alive.
However, he hit a 2 run HR to give us the lead 2-1 (wish I saved the highlight cause it was amazing and well-timed). We scored another run then shut down the Angels to win Game 5 3-1. Our next opponent is the division rival Yankees who beat us for the division on the last weekend of the regular season.Comment

Re: MLB The Show 17 Franchise Discussion Thread
Things are going pretty rough for the Tampa Bay Rays, slumping to 8 losses in the last 10 games has put us a very disappointing 16-34. All the bats have gone cold, some of our pitching has been outrageously poor and nothing seems to be falling for us. 6 games without a homer isn't helping as the long ball was probably the only thing we had going for us this season, other than a resurgent Chris Archer (7-2, 2.45 ERA).
The decision to bring back Matt Garza has majorly backfired as he is currently 0-9 with an ERA over 9, while other returnee BJ Upton has slightly improved to be just above the Mendoza line. We lost Malex Smith for the season and now Kevin Kiermaier, one of our only respectable performers is out for a month, which somewhat triggered the collapse.
Tough times for the Rays, we're rebuilding but we're so bad we might have to give up and burn the whole thing down at this rate.Comment

Re: MLB The Show 17 Franchise Discussion Thread
EDIT Just thought I'd mention, I just had a 5 (I think? maybe 4) game series against the Angels and it's great to see Mike Trout really standing out. He destroyed me, hitting 4 homers and getting to absolutely everything in CF. Annoying as hell given my current run, but in previous years I have sometimes not really seen the big names stand out like they should, so it's nice to see him stomp all over me (sort of!)Last edited by BigOscar; 05-02-2017, 04:28 PM.Comment

Re: MLB The Show 17 Franchise Discussion Thread
Hi everyone, Im new to these forums and am a big player of MLB the show 17. I play exclusively franchise and RTTS only. Im quite a new baseball fan too, and have only been actively following the game (and playing it) for the last 6 months or so. Im now obsessed.
I managed to win the world series with the Dodgers first time round in franchise. I quick managed nearly every game bar a few in the regular season I played and some in the post season that I managed (which I found very enjoyable and simulations the tension of post season really well).
2018 has come along and Ive kept a very similar line up for my Dodgers, except for releasing Chase Utley and giving up a prospect for Logan Forsythe, who has been strong. I just didnt feel anything needed changing, although given that quite a few players are at arbitration its put pressure on my budget. I've upped the injuries to 7 on the slider cos I think this is more realistic.
But being newish to baseball and living in a country where it barely gets a mention (Australia), Im still learning about roster management. Questions I have is how many games/at-bats would you give a player before dropping them to the minors? Or even trading them? What's a reasonable sample size in a baseball season? And is it common for trades to happen months out from the trade deadline - ie: early May?
My cashflow went into the red as I had a relatively poor April and I decided to trade out Scott Kazmir (although he was performing well, he is 38 and I feel he is about to slide) and get a prospect from the Marlins, and elevate Urias into the starting rotation. Is trading this early realistic?
Also, if a player gets injured for a few days, is it normal to keep them active and on the bench as opposed to immediately putting them on the 10 day DL?
Thanks for your help.Comment

Meant to say Ryan Schimpf from the Padres instead of Logan Forsythe. Cant edit posts yet but.Comment

I would say generally trades don't happen that early, but it's certaintly possible and has happend.
As for injuries that last just a few days i personally would not DL the player unless it was a pitcher IE a starting pitcher that you needed to start. Most trades tend to occur in late June-early July but not always.

Another question I have is why do so many trades happen around the trade deadline? Why do teams leave it to the last minute?Comment

Re: MLB The Show 17 Franchise Discussion Thread
That's just basic trade logic. If you're shopping a guy because your team sucks and you're rebuilding, you wait until the last minute so the teams that want your guy have to keep upping their offers. Like what the 49ers did to my idiot Bears a week ago...Comment

Re: MLB The Show 17 Franchise Discussion Thread
Im 8 games deep in my padres franchise and as a team total I've only hit 2 home runs.. I'm 4-4 but I'm not understanding how I'm squaring up on balls but I can't drive them out?Comment

Re: MLB The Show 17 Franchise Discussion Thread
Sitting at 2-3 on the young season with the Reds. I kept saying i wanted to slowly... SLOWLY make changes to my team.... that was until the 3 main guys i wanted before the season started were all placed on the trading block by their respective teams!
Realistic? no, but its a video game
Mets Receive:
Devin Mesoraco, Scooter Gennett, relief pitcher (forgot name)
Reds Receive:
Michael Conforto, Zach Wheeler
A's Receive:
Jose Peraza
Reds Receive:
Sonny Gray
New Rotation is now:
Gray
Wheeler
DiSclafani
Bailey
Adelman
again it wasnt realistic, but now my team has a direction to get younger and stronger... i wanted Dilson Herrera to be the starting 2b and these moves ensure he will get at least 140 games at the position and i can now have a solid 4 outfielder rotation with schebler, duvall, hamilton and confortoTwitch Username: CEspo723Comment

Re: MLB The Show 17 Franchise Discussion Thread
I just started up a brewers franchise with the OSFM rosters and would like to trade braun by the trade deadline or earlier depending on how he's doing. Any ideas on some realistic trades on who i could get for him?
