Simmons would def work....or even Cozart who is sneaky good and the Reds are an obvious rebuild so shoot them over a mid level prospect.

Texas Rangers Update: Season 1 MOM

Well its been a rough stretch for our Rangers. We currently sit at 20-28 71/2 games out of first place. Pitching has been a big problem, especially in simulated games. This manager Hook glitch needs to be patched, because unless I'm way ahead in a MOM simulated games my starter is pulled in the 4th inning. I play 1 and then simulate 3. Darvish and Hammels are trying to hold the fort down but Ross, Cashner and Perez are all in the minors because of ineffectiveness. That leaves Sadzeck, Martinez and Gee as the other 3. Bullpen MR and LR is terrible. if I can get the game to Kela and Diekman I'm fine.
On a great note Adrian Beltre is hitting 329 and sits 2 hits shy of the magical 3,000. Hopefully i's not to late to turn this ship around

Re: MLB The Show 17 Franchise Discussion Thread

My Cardinals have turned things around as we have won back to back series (Cubs and Diamondbacks) by taking 2 out of 3. We sit one game back of the Pirates, which we start a 3 game series with today.

Our bullpen still needs to be shored up as they are struggling, but lately we've been able to close out games.

Our bats are horrible. We are winning despite the fact that Carpenter is hitting under .200 and Holliday is hitting just over .200. In fact our team average is a Major League worse .215 or thereabouts.

Hopefully our bats heat up and our bullpen gets more consistent as we look to make another run deep into October.
I can't shave with my eyes closed, meaning each day I have to look at myself in the mirror and respect who I see.

Almost caught up to real life schedule with the Reds. Was feeling cocky after repeating what they basically did before the Cubs series IRL.

Then we got swept by Chicago. It was enough to make me get annoyed. The nice thing is that I know my yearly goal is simply finish .500. I think that is really my hope at thus point. This division belongs to Chicago this year.

Already excited to scout a few guys in the draft and make a couple moves if we are in the Wild Card hunt. It's way too soon for that though.

Aside from the one solo shot given up this game was perfect on a defensive and pitching standpoint. However the offense was atrotious in this game. Only 3 hits the entire game but neither of these are the headline in this one.
PEREZ IS OUT FOR 1-2 MONTHS with a fractured hand suffered from getting hit by a ball sliding into second base after a double. This was a huge blow for the team as Perez in a multiple gold glover and one of our best bats in the lineup as well as one of the best catchers in the majors.

Had to call up Bryan Pena from AAA Omaha and starting behind the plate will be Drew Butera. Not nearly the offensive threat that Perez was but not a bad defensive catcher so it could be worse, but definitely not ideal.

Re: MLB The Show 17 Franchise Discussion Thread

Well I finally completed April playing every game. Started off hot (8-3) but lost 10 of our last 13 games to finish April at 11-13 I'll now start a play one sim 5 five routine.

              Pitching
[B]Ervin Santana[/] was our best starting pitcher in April (4-1) although he fell victim to the second half slip as well losing his first game in a 10-4 loss to Yu Darvish and the Rangers. He gave up nine hits and 5 earned runs in just six innings.

Hector Santiago and Kyle Gibson are the only other starters with a win, both being 1-2. Phil Hughes and Tyler Duffey are both 0-3.

Receiver wise Glen Perkins has been solid as our closer getting 6/6 saves. I might need to bring Ryan Pressly in more as he pitched 11 innings while keeping his ERA at 0.82 by far the best of my relievers.

              BATTING
Joe Mauer has struggled immensely collecting only 14 hits in 83 at bats but has started to turn it around. Brian Dozier also had a pretty slow April batting just .213.

Miguel Sano started hot but also slid during the losing streak. He finished April at .305 with 9 HR and 15 RBI. Max Kepler, Robbie Grossman and Eddie Rosario have also been hot.

MLB The Show 17 Franchise Discussion Thread

I have this thing where I can never really settle on one team for franchise mode. I'm with the Dbacks rn which I'm really digging so far. They're an interesting team since they could be contenders yet always hover around .500 last couple years. I hope this year I can give them a WC spot at least.

Their roster has a lot of potential too. Especially their starting rotation. Lots of young 20somethings with B potentials. Id say this is the season they breakout. In terms of hitting I always felt their lineup is missing a flashy, powerhitting bat in the 4th spot after Goldschmit. A player like Bautista, Beltre, Ortiz. Someone who's a real presence at the plate. I'll look into adding someone similar to that.

I play every game of the 162 season. I wanna control every stat for my team that way. Currently we're 1-1. I play on HoF hitting(zone+analog+stride(best way to hit Imo)) and pitching(pure analog)

Re: MLB The Show 17 Franchise Discussion Thread

After taking the first two from the Pirates in Pittsburgh, we are now 8-6 and are in a tie for first place with the Reds. Our starting pitching has been dominant, aside from Wainwright, and our bullpen has settled down and is closing out games.

Our bats are still streaky but Matt Carpenter has exploded over the last 5 games, hitting 5 homeruns and leading the majors in homers with 8. He has also risen his average from a dismal .170 up to .280. Nobody else seems to be able to get any consistency going at the moment and we are still struggling at the leadoff spot with Magnerius Sierra who is not getting on base.

We have one more in Pittsburgh before we travel to Chicago to play the Cubs for 4 games.

I wouldn't blow it up, you could reason that you would have landed around .500 without the long injuries, but if you want to get someone for the infield and move on from Tomas, how about Manny Machado? Stands to reason that Baltimore won't afford him when his deal is up after 2018 and Arizona can run a bigger payroll (since they signed Greinke to try and compete with SF/LA). Maybe you can convince Baltimore to get something for him while they can.

I'm 13-16 with the Sox, playing each game. I've already had runs where I lost 7 of 8, immediately followed by winning 7 of 8.

Toronto is something like 18-9, and the rest of us are jammed together with 13 wins/varying number of losses.

Top of rotation has been solid, as expected, I sent Pomeranz down for Elias after he got shelled in a start and Elias lit up AAA in April. I'm on the fence with Wright after he got hit early in a start in Minnesota.

Roadtrip continues to Milwaukee after this. Hopefully Thames isn't crushing balls left and right, allowing HR have been my drawback so far this season.

Started the season with my Reds at 0-5, but have bounced back nicely. Was sitting at 7-8 going for a 3 game sweep of the Orioles, but friggin' Wade Miley shut me down. 8+ innings of 0 run 3 hit pitching. Then when I got a runner on in the 9th, Zach Britton comes in (man he's tough to hit...) and shuts me down and we lose 2-0.

Anyway we are now 7-9, with a 5-2 homestand so far, and 3 with the Cubbies coming up.

Only real bad news so far is that Billy Hamilton fractured a finger stealing 2nd, and is out for 1-2 months. He was hitting .455 and leading the MLB in AVG. so it's a big blow.

On another note, Mesoraco came back off the DL and had a nice short rehab in AAA, so I brought him up for the O's series, and in 2 games, he's been tearing it up!

Finally decided on going with the Rockies as my franchise team. A good young core of players and a few pieces to possible use as trade bait. Great power on the team so I might use cargo at the deadline to try to pick up and ace if I'm contending. Hopefully can get the Rockies there first NL west title and back in the playoffs after years of missing out. Will make month to month updates

Hey, how do I find Vlad Guerrero Jr? I have OSFM 17 v1.75 and can't find him when I do a fantasy draft or check the roster.

Finished a sweep against the Dodgers with a 6-2 win last night. I believe that puts us at 43-24 on the season. We broke out of a slump and are either 7-3 or 8-2 in the last ten games.

Despite the best records in the league our bats are struggling, in the bottom 1/3 in BA. However Rizzo is at 29 HR's already. I'm hoping the patch will lower those numbers. We are winning a lot of 1 run games and every games still feels like a challenge. If our pitching goes south this team could tank in a hurry.

Here is an update on our starters:

1B Rizzo - Having a great season. Batting around .280. Leads for MVP
2B Baez - Batting around .220 but having a golden glove type year.
SS Castro - Barely above the Mendoza line.
3B Anthony Rendon - Batting around .290 and 20 HRs. 2nd for MVP and in HR's. May also win a golden glove this year.
LF Scruggs - Generated rookie last year with high potential. Batting ~.230 with 4 HR's. Has been up and down this year.
CF Fowler - ~ .250 getting the job done as lead off man.
RF Soler - ~ .270 has a laser arm out in right.
C Herb Fuentes - ~ .245 9 HR's for the rule 5 rookie. Has been up and down but rebounded as of late. Dark horse RotY guy.

                              Rotation:
                              Lester - ~ 8-2
Hammel - Having a great year
Matt Moore - Having a great year
Arrietta - Above .500 getting the job done
Wood - 4-6 has ups and downs.
                              MLB the Show - Cubs
                              2015: 80-82
2016: 96-66 - Lost Game 7 of WS (18 innings to Red Sox)
2017: 93-69 - Swept by Red Sox in World Series
2018: 100-62 - Swept by Dodgers in NLCS
                              2019: 14-11

Re: MLB The Show 17 Franchise Discussion Thread

I started a Rangers franchise with the current roster's most recent update (minus letting Hauschild go, he's still my long reliever and Nick Martinez is in AAA.) Started a lot like the Rangers have in real life and struggled, I play through the rotation (as in I play Darvish, sim through his next outing, play Hamels, sim through his next outing, play Cashner, sim through his next outing, play Perez, sim through his next outing, and then play Griffin and sim through his next outing.) I consider all of that playing through the rotation once. After I did that once I brought Beltre back, sent Rua down to AAA and my lineup looks like:

                                1. CF CarGo
                                2. DH Choo
                                3. RF Mazara
                                4. 3B Beltre
                                5. 2B Odor
                                6. 1B Napoli
                                7. LF Gallo
                                8. C Lucroy
                                9. SS Andrus

                                Bench:
                                Chirinos
                                DeShields
                                Profar

Ever since I brought Beltre back I played the Darvish start and won every game through his rotation now I'm at Hamels. Looks like the bats are doing great and pitching has been solid. Once I get through the rotation a second time I'll probably add Tyson Ross to the rotation and send Hauschild down and make AJ Griffin my long reliever.

Now I have to decide whether I want to stick with what I've got the rest of the season and eventually bring back Diekman the third time through (who is doing terribly in AAA in the game for me.) My bullpen lacks talent but hasn't played terribly outside of Claudio (but he plays really well when I'm using him.) I might call up Diekman eventually and send down Claudio, but I'm thinking about keeping Claudio up idk. Might even consider packaging Diekman for another reliever, maybe a righty. Right now Sam Dyson is in AAA as a closer, I might just keep him and Diekman where they are.

With Gallo earning the everyday spot at LF in the game (and probably real life too) I don't know what I'm going to do with Profar, who isn't much of a left fielder anyways. Right now he's being used as a utility guy off the bench but I do feel like I don't need him now that Drew Robinson is on the roster and can possibly come in and feel that role.

Another issue I have is Lucroy wants to be in a star position in the lineup which isn't going to happen and his rating is way low as a result. Chirinos wants an everyday position in the lineup and he's not even going to platoon for me. With Lucroy being an issue for me next year I've considered packaging him and potentially Profar. I think Chirinos would be a solid starter like he was in the past bc he can hit for power and he's got a good arm. Of course playing Lucroy at 1st base some next year is also a slight possibility, although idk if that makes a lot of sense.

One trade idea I came up with is Choo/Profar/Lucroy for Giancarlo Stanton. For starters it definitely isn't a very realistic trade. And while I'm a big Stanton fan I might want to start a Marlins franchise eventually so idk if that's the direction I want to go in. In the other hand, it would move Mazara to left, Gallo to 1st, allow me to call up Robinson, and give Chirinos the everyday start at catcher (I can sign Bryan Holaday to come back to Texas as a backup who doesn't expect to platoon or start.) Giancarlo would be my right fielder and Napoli would take over at DH. That would make my lineup something like:

                                1. CF Carlos Gomez
                                2. SS Elvis Andrus
                                3. RF Giancarlo Stanton
                                4. 3B Adrian Beltre
                                5. LF Nomar Mazara
                                6. 2B Rougned Odor
                                7. DH Mike Napoli
                                8. 1B Joey Gallo
                                9. C Robinson Chirinos

Looks like a pretty solid lineup although I'd have to play around with it. Any ideas or suggestions as of what moves to make/not to make in the near future?
