Anyone else have an issue doing a long-term franchise with your favorite team? I feel like I'm too emotionally involved to really do a Nat's franchise.

Yeah, I always end up doing a non-Mets, usually AL franchise. I watch them enough that I like learning a different team.

I am in the beginning of August in my Giants franchise and I get what you are saying. Crawford has hit horribly for me all season, but I couldn't bear to trade him away at the deadline.

Well I'm 125 games into my season having played every game minus simulating 3-4 games along the way. I sit, as Seattle, with a 67-58 record trailing Houston in the division by 5 games and 1.5 GB in the wild card. I like my rotation other then James Paxton as he's too erratic for my tastes but I can't stand half my bullpen so every game is shaky the moment the SP leaves.

Boston has been on a torrid pace, at one point they were in 4th place in the division and suddenly they find themselves leading the division. The AL is a slugfest, you've got 4 teams in contention in the East and 4 in the West with Cleveland running away with the Central. Over in the NL there's pretty much zero to be decided other then Washington holding on to the division over New York. Either way one will make the playoffs as the wild card barring a complete meltdown by someone. Back to Boston though, they went 27-6 since the All-Star break and are the hottest team in baseball currently. In that same span I've only managed to go 18-17 but have won 4 of my last 5 games. I'm just hopeful my pitching can continue to do well and if the bullpen ever comes around I might have a shot at making noise in the playoffs.

2022 Miami Marlins Postseason

Divisional Series vs Dodgers: The Marlins were rearing up for this series against the Dodgers. The state of any team is bound to change when you have aging players and expiring contracts. Who knows the fate King Felix will have in terms of the rest of his major league career, and thus Miami surely wanted to put up a respectable fight against the team that thwarted their World Series defense back in 2021. Sadly... things simply weren't meant to be. In Game #1, Miami got thrashed 8-0 in a shutout in Los Angeles. Joc Pederson bashing a 3-run homer in the 3rd hurt badly. In Game #2, the Marlins got revenge as a clutch Carlos Santana hit down the 3rd base side brought Jean Segura home to put Miami ahead 5-4 in the 8th, a lead they would hold onto and clinch. Back home in Game #3, the Marlins fell behind 1-4 after multiple 2-run homers by Joc Pederson and Corey Seager. A 2-run shot by Giancarlo Stanton in the bottom of the 8th got them within 1 but it wasn't enough. Game #4 was a must-win in Miami, and in his potentially final start of his MLB Career, Felix Hernandez was magnificent. 8 innings, 3 hits, 1 walk, 1 run, 10 strikeouts to seal a 7-1 monumental victory to push both teams to the brink. In that Game #5 against their rival, the Marlins imploded. A 2-run error on a missed flyball by Yasiel Puig in the 1st got the momentum swinging, and by the 4th inning the Dodgers led 7-1. They would go on to be victorious and advance back to the NLCS as Miami once again had their titles hopes dashed. A disappointing season, many expect mass changes coming this offseason.

As for the way things went around the rest of MLB, the Mets lost in the Wildcard Game to the San Francisco Giants who lost in 4 to the Chicago Cubbies. The Texas Rangers defeated the Boston Red Sox in the AL Wildcard Game, but they too were defeated by the New York Yankees in a sweep while the Cleveland Indians swept the Los Angeles Angels. The ALCS saw a feature between giant and small market, and this time it would be the Indians who prevailed. After taking a 2-1 series lead, the young Yankees buckled under pressure on the road. In a win-or-go-home Game #6, they only gathered 6 hits as Corey Kluber shut the door on them. In the NLCS, the Dodgers looked well on their way to defending their World Series title a year prior by taking a 2-0 series lead, but the Cubs stormed back ripping off 4 consecutive wins including a Game #6 where 5 different Cubs players hit 6 home runs. It would be a rematch of the 2016 World Series in 2022, Indians vs Cubs. Sadly for Cleveland, the outcome would remain the same. The Cubs pitching over-whelmed the Indians holding them to just 2 runs through their first 2 games. In fact, in all the games the Indians never scored more than 2 runs. Cleveland won Game #3, but Chicago trounced in Game #4 by a margin of 7-1 and held on in Game #5 to win 3-2 to become World Series Champions once again.

End of August - 2017

Made it to September sitting at 69-64. 6 behind the Indians for 1st in the division and 1.5 games out of a wildcard. Didn't make any moves at the deadline. We were to close to sell and not good enough to add any pieces. Its gonna be a fight to get that wildcard spot. Angles hold the 1st spot with the Astros in 2nd. Us the Mariners, Orioles and Tigers are all within 3.5 games.

The offense is..... Confusing.

Lorenzo Cain is probably gonna finish with the best season of his career. He is hitting .280/.353/.474. He has 14 HR. 2 away from his career high. And has already passed his career high in Doubles with 35. Triples with 9. And Walks with 47.

Salvador Perez is having the best season of his career as well. Hitting .298/.327/.479. He has already tied his career high in HR with 22. Currently has the highest fielding % of his career. And has put up 4.3 WAR. His previous career high was 2.7.

Alex Gordon has bounced back from a terrible 2016. Hitting .260/.320/.450 with 19 HR. 4 away from his career high of 23.

Add Mike Moustakas to list of players having their best years. He is hitting .268/.318/.515. Has already hit 33 HR. 11 more than he previous high. 3 away from tying the Royals record. He is also having the best defensive season of his career. Only 3 errors so far for a .987 fielding%.

Brandon Moss is hitting .251/.324/.533. Those are his highest totals since 2013,2014,2013. He also has 17 HR despite missing 2 months with an injury.

Paulo Orlando will probably finish with his best season as well. He also missed 2 months (broke his shin in game after breaking it in real life as well). He is hitting .298/.324/.448 with 7 HR.

Alcides Escobar decided he didnt want to be known as the worst hitter in the league. Hitting .283/.319/.388. He has 1.7 WAR which ties his career high set back in 2012.

Eric Hosmer has been mostly disappointing. Hitting .262/.323/.392 with just 12 HR. Just hasn't been able to capitalize on his contract year like Cain, Moose and Escobar have. He has went from the that was going to get the most money to the one that is most likely to stay. A strong September would go a long way in helping us make a playoff push.

Raul Mondesi has managed to stay on the team all year. Not like we haven't tried to find someone that could do better though. He is hitting .249/.282/.385 with 5 HR and 12 SB. Has been terrible against lefties hitting just .156. Much more serviceable against righties hitting .272.

Whit Merrifield was the guy most likely to take Mondesi's spot. But got off to a bad start and has yet to recover. He is hitting .201/.254/.244 with no HR. We sent him back down to AAA for a bit and he got hot so we brought him back up. Hopefully he can get it going against the lefties.

Cheslor Cuthbert and Drew Butera have both been pretty good off the bench for us. Both have gotten a lot more time than expected. Butera is hitting .262/.300/.327 with Cuthbert hitting .255/.304/.369 with 6 HR. And for a lot of the season they were both hitting much better than that.

And last Ruben Sosa has come on very strong since being called up in mid August. In 14 games he is hitting .318/.400/.432.

Thats 7 guys having about as good a season as we could have hoped for. A guy not living up to expectations but not being absolutely terrible. A guy that is really only up cause we have no one better but is still a great defender. And 2 primarily back ups that have played good enough to get some extra starts but not good enough to secure a full time job. Those 11 guys have gotten have combined to put us 6th in AVG at .263, 13th in OBP at .313 and 11th in slugging at .419. We are 5th in Triples with 35 and somehow 25th in doubles with 203. That has given us 540 runs. Good for 11th overall. But so many of our losses are because the offense just cant score. We had a 10 game stretch in August were we scored 11 runs. And thankfully only lost 5 of them despite the pitching giving up 3 runs, 2 runs, 2 runs, 1 run and 1 run. Very few of our losing streaks have been on the pitching.

Speaking of pitching we are 7th in the league with a 3.43 ERA. 5th in Complete Games with 6 and tied for 12th with 12 Shutouts.

With how good the pitching is and how good the offense is 5 games over .500 seems a little low. But at least we have a chance. The division is probably out of reach. But a wildcard is very much a chance. 13 games at home with 16 on the road to end the season. we get the the Twins for 7 games (60-73). Tigers for 6 games (67-66), White Sox for 6 games (54-78), 7 games against the Indians (75-58), 3 against Toronto (70-64) and we end the season with 3 at home against the Diamondbacks (62-72). So we will have our chance to beat up on some bad teams. And see what we are really made of against a couple good teams. It will be fun.

2020 Oakland Athletics

End of September report

Oakland cruises to the division title at 92-67 with 3 games left to play. Leading the 2nd place Mariners by 14 games. Oakland also locked up the second best record in the AL, behind the 95-64 Red Sox.

Leading Cy Young candidate Kylie Finnegan and top MVP choice Matt Olson, finished the final day of September with style. Matt Olson hitting his major league leading 50th homerun to help Finnegan earn his AL leading 16th win. Not that Finnegan needed help as he No-hit the Rangers to lower his era to 2.20.

On the hitting side of things, Dominic Costa had a nice month hitting .340 to see his average raise back up to the .270's after seeing it drop all the way down to .260 in July and August.

So now for the stats,

BATTING:
1: DH/CF Charlie Tilson .269/4/24
Tilson took over the leadoff role when Costa started to struggle. He is a constant threat on the bases with his 93 spd and has 25 steals in 86 games.

2: 2B Dominic Costa .273/33/84
After a brief stint near the bottom of the lineup, Costa is back near the top and has continued to drive the ball. Reaching 30+ homeruns and 30+ doubles for the third season in a row.

3: RF Bryce Harper .261/23/53
After missing 64 games last season due to injury Harper has had a decent bounce back season while playing in 140 games. His average and RBI aren't where they need to be for a player making $30mil a year, but hopefully next season he will be able to reach the numbers that he had prior to coming to Oakland. Averaging .295/32/90 in his two seasons in Colorado.

4: 1B Matt Olson .276/50/122
Quite possibly the most powerful left handed bat in the game, Olson's batting average is finally starting to catch up to his power. In only his 4th season Olson has amassed 144 career homeruns in 1900 at bats.

5: LF Wil Myers .267/23/77
The second longest tenured athletic, behind Jesse Hahn, Meyers continues to play solid baseball. In his 5 years in Oakland, Myers has averaged. .278/25/74.

6: 3B Matt Chapman .261/20/49
In his first full season, after playing in 83 games and hitting .195/9/30 in 2019. Chapman is finally showing why he was Oakland's top rated prospect for the last several seasons.

7: CF Mel Rojas .274/8/35
After coming out of nowhere to bat .283 last season, second year player Rojas is having a slight sophomore slump as his numbers are down across the board.

8: C Steve Butler .251/4/29
Butler has taken over every day catching duties from Yan Gomes who has struggled all season with his bat and his defense. Though both players will most likely be released at the end of the season.

9: SS Ozhaino Albies .357/0/9
Receiving a call up when Lindor was lost for the rest of the regular season, Albies made the most of his time in the big leagues. The switch hitter is batting .375 from the left side and .333 from the right as well as playing stellar defense with 0 errors in the 21 games he's played in.

Significant bench players;
Marlon Andrews .255/8/22
Being that Andrews can play 7 different positions he is really a 10th starter as he has amassed 408 AB's throughout the season.

Renato Nunez .230/7/23
After starting the season fairly hot Nunez's inability to consistently get on base has led to dwindling at bats for the right handed slugger.

PITCHING:

SP Jesse Hahn 13-12 3.93 ERA
After winning 19 games last season Hahn has really struggled this year. This season marks the first time he has amassed double digit losses and if he doesn't win his final game it will be the first time he doesn't finish the season above .500

SP Michael Santos 8-9 3.49 ERA
For the second season in a row Santos has failed to reach 10 wins. Though this season has been an improvement as Santos has posted career highs in innings, strikeouts, K/9, WHIP, and a career low ERA.

SP Raul Alcantara 11-9 2.91 ERA
After never topping 70 innings in a season, Oakland made Alcantara a starter no the big right-hander responded with 11 wins, 135 strikeouts and a 1.18 WHIP in 173.1 innings.

SP Kyle Finnegan 16-4 2.20 ERA
Having what possibly could be his breakout season. The top vote getter for the AL Cy Young, Finnegan is leading the AL in Wins (16), Era (2.20), fewest losses (4), WHIP (0.91), pitching WAR (7.5), innings (213.0), fewest HR allowed (12), and he's third in strikeouts (215). And to top it all he no-hit the rangers in his final start of the regular season.

SP Ty Blach 15-8 2.55 ERA
Like Finnegan, Blach has posted career highs/lows in Innings (204.2), wins (15), era (2.55), and WHIP (1.05). Oakland is looking a rewarding these two with starts in games one and two of the ALDS.

RP Curtis McClendon 9-3 1.28 ERA
Coming over from the Cubs in the offseason the 22 yo fireballing McClendon has been brilliant all season. Touching 101mph on dozens of occasions this fastball along with a devastating slider has helped him strikeout 90 batters in 84.1 innings and hold opponents to .155 combined batting average. He will most likely become the closer next season.

CP Dellin Betances 42 SV 2.32 ERA
Coming over from NYY Betances has amassed 66 strikeouts in 50.1 innings with a WHIP of 1.01. He is currently third in the AL in Saves.

End of season - 2017

Damn windows updated half way through writing my update so here is the quick version.

Well we tried our best. But it just wasn't enough. We finished 86-76, 2nd in the division 5 games behind the Indians. And 2 games back of the Astros for the last wildcard spot. With 6 games to play we needed a miracle as we were sitting 5 games back of the Astros. That hope didnt last long as we dropped that 1st game and the Astros won. It would have been interesting had we not lost that. We ended up winning our last 5 games while the Astros dropped 4 of 5.

Off Season

Ned Yost decided to retire so we brought in Willy Kibblehouse to replace him. He brought a whole new coaching staff along. Hitting Coach Franklin Morrow. Pitching Coach Josh Bolich. 1st base coach Babe Portillo. 3rd base coach Douglas Hernandez. And Farm Director Tom McCollum.

Mike Mouastakas was the only one of our main free agents to stick around. Signing a 4 year deal for 66 million dollars. We also brought back Jason Vargas on a 2 year deal for 5.5 million (team option). And Mike Minor on a 3 year deal for 6 million. We also picked up one player in free agency. Franklin Gutierrez joins the team on a year deal for 3 million.

Eric Hosmer decided to go to the damn Tigers on a 2 year deal for 13.8M. Lorenzo Cain and Alcides Escobar both went over to the Mets. Cain gets a 5 year deal for 63.8M. While Escobar gets a 2 year deal for 20M. Im really surprised that Hosmer and Escobar didnt sign their qualifying offers. Escobar i kind of get. More money overall at least. Hoz doesnt make sense at all. Guess he really wanted those 2 years. Some other big moves that popped up.

Spring Training

Had a few pitching spots up for grabs heading into the spring. Mike Minor, Jason Vargas and Ian Kennedy were fighting for the last 2 spots in the rotation behind Duffy, Karns and Hammel. And Scott Alexander, Eric Stout, Chris Withrow and Brian Flynn fighting for a bullpen spot behind Herrera, Strahm, Soria, Wood and Maness.

On the offensive side things were a bit more open. Kind of. I had a general idea of who was going to be where. With really only Salvy, Moose, Mondesi and Gordon guaranteed a spot.

Jason Vargas ended up getting hurt so that made the 2 rotation spots easy. That also cleared the way for A.J. Puckett to be the long reliever for us. And Scott Alexander ended up winning the last bullpen spot.

There were quite a few guys that won a spot on offense. Bubba Starling and Ruben Sosa will platoon in CF. Corey Toups will start at short against lefties. Hunter Dozier won a spot at 1st and DH. So with that here is what the roster and lineups will look like.

We open up the season at home with a 3 game series against the Tigers. 25 games in April. 13 at home 12 on the road. 22 of the 25 will be division games. We wont play an out of Division game until the 23rd against the Mariners. So we can either get out to a lead early or put ourselves in a hole.

With a mere 26 games left in the season I wanted to throw the standings up as it's shaping up to be a tight race to the end. There are 6 teams in the AL fighting for the 2 wild card spots, including myself, and with teams playing within their divsion for the last month it could be a crazy last month of the season...

For those of you that run 30 team control what kind of stuff do you do? Im thinking of replicating any big trades that happen in real life if they make sense in my league as well as making sure teams dont make any terrible free agent signings.

Also does budget even do anything? I have some stubs but I remember people saying that buying budget doesnt actually allow you to have more money come free agency.

I've lost last 4 games by a blown save.

2 of the games I blew the save and scored 2+ runs the next inning only to blow the save. So technically it's 6 blown save.

I don't know what it is but the CPU in 9th inning always hits. No matter where in the order. It's driving me crazy
