I love the not knowing what will happen next this year with RTTS. Where I will play, who I will play for (do you think drafted players get to pick what team they want to play for?), what game, what position. I love that I have little control of that. This years RTTS is awesome! It gets repeatative knowing I could pick my team, change my position, get traded if I wanted to. This year makes playing RTTS perfect.

How did you guys do the RTTS showtime home run trophy? I cannot do it. Any tips. Do you swing with power or just contact? Do you try to influence the ball up? It is the only trophy that I am struggling with this year.NHL: Rangers

Re: Official MLB 17 : Road to the Show Thread
Not from the start. You have to do the scouting stuff and the showcase. (all of it) get drafted and refuse to sign. Go to a juco for a year and do all the scouting and showcase again. The "team select" will then be on the menu. Sometimes you have to do the juco route twice. My SS (now 3B) got to pick his team after the first time. My CP had to do it twice. Hopefully they'll patch in a team select from the start.Comment

Re: Official MLB 17 : Road to the Show Thread
Carried my guy over from MLB 16.
Terrance three-finger Hobbes, a five-tool CF, now with the Oakland A's
Languished in minors for 2-1/2 seasons, before being called up to Blue Jays during All-Star Break, who promptly traded me to Oakland for three players, including a starting pitcher.
Finished strong in 2nd half of season, where we enjoyed a 6-1/2 game lead in the West, only to see it disappear in a 4-16 slide. I finished strong in final series, however, going 9-14 in last 3 games to win the division by 1.
We promptly got bounced by the Texas Rangers ("One day we'll figure out how to beat those guys." in 4.
Just stared my first full-season, and I'm batting .370 after 3 weeks.Comment

Still in the minors and I am in my second season of my RTTS. Got called up right before the AA playoffs in my first season and still in AAA. Wonder how long it will be till I get the call to The Show...Comment

Re: Official MLB 17 : Road to the Show Thread
My career as a catcher in the Rays organization started at AA Montgomery. I got to play every day, made the Southern League All-Star game and was called up to AAA the day after. I was batting .351 with 19 HR and 74 RBI in AA.
My move to AAA saw me split time with 3 other catchers and only play 28 games the second half of the season. I hit .391 with 8 HR and 25 RBI.
Fast forward to season #2 and I'm the AAA starter, but there are 6 (SIX!) catchers on the team. I'm 56 games into the season and I've only played 7 games. I'm hitting .424 with 3 HR and 11 RBI.
This is a bit ridiculous. At one point in time I didn't play for 38 straight days. All my ratings are in red decline because I don't get playing time to earn points to keep up with the training. I'd call this career a massive failure. Why would the AI put 6 catchers on a team roster and have the starting catcher in the depth chart only play 7 games in almost half a season? Guess it's off to a new career. :-/
I got the typical "going to move you to x" storyline and was moved LF. After my trial there, they said they'd like to keep me there since there was a need at the bigs for the Diamondbacks. I accepted the move.
I just reached the All-Star break in AA Jackson. We won the first cycle championship with a +18 record. Much better than what I experienced team-wise in Montgomery in my first attempt.
I made the Southern League All-Star game and was named MVP with a 2-3 1 HR 1 RBI stat line. For the year my stat line is at .405 13 HR 60 RBI. We'll see if I get the call to AAA like my last player did.NFL: Green Bay Packers

Re: Official MLB 17 : Road to the Show Thread
Loving this year's version of RTTS. I always make a pitcher and try to make him like a Doc Gooden (without the drug problems). My guy is a 6'3", 210, basically the default for a starting pitcher.
My four main pitches are a 4-seam FB, 12-6 curve, circle change and just added a slider. I didn't buy any stubs to really upgrade him and just let the chips fall as they may.
I went to the Reds in the 4th round. Was the 5th starter in the rotation in Double A but couldn't get any wins early on. I wasn't giving up runs and was staying true to a power pitcher and getting plenty of K's but couldn't get in the win column. I eventually won 3 out of my first 7 starts and then they moved me to the closer role. I managed to pick up 4 saves before they moved me back into the starting rotation. I pitched one game after they put me back in the rotation and took my first loss. Right after that, the manager called me into his office and told me to pack my bags because I had been called up. I chose to respond and ask him if he thought I was ready for Triple A ball and he said, "No, you don't understand...you've been called up to the big club...you're going to the show."
Pitched my first game in the Show today and got a 2-0 win over the Cardinals after going 7 strong and picking up 7 K's. Not bad for an 18-year old pitcher that's a 71 overall now.Operation Sports' own ball coach!Comment

Is there a way to see news or trades from around the league?
I see a pop up that comes on the screen whenever a transaction happens for your own team but I would like to see the trades or news from other teams as well.2018-2019 NBA Champions!Comment

Re: Official MLB 17 : Road to the Show Thread
Created a CF who was drafted by the Cardinals in the first round. Eventually got moved to LF permanently after being asked to move there on a trial-basis. Got called up to AAA a few weeks before the AA All-Star game, then called up to the majors in mid-August. Started just about every game for them until the end of the season. Started simming the off-season and got a cut-scene of going into the manager's office where he informed me I had been traded to the Dodgers. I am currently only a couple series deep into the 2018 season where I start roughtly 2 out of every 5 games and seem to be the team's first option to pinch hit when they pull the pitcher late in the game. I am hoping to get back into the everyday starter role soon, especially since my overall rating is better than Colby Rasmus who is currently the everyday starter in LF.#HAILSTATEComment

Re: Official MLB 17 : Road to the Show Thread
First time playing a baseball game on next gen, first time playing road to the show ever.
I created a 6'2 Left Fielder pretty balanced all around. I don't know what I 'should' be good at. Mid way through the AA season the manager tells me that I should change my position to 1B, because there's a need in the majors. I took it, because why not!
I play my second season start to finish as a 1B, and somehow end up on the Pirates spring team. I start the spring season as a SS/1B and pinch hitter/runner. I must have been performing worst than I thought, because I got sent back down to the AAA.
I'm a Madden guy by heart, and I am just astonished by the depth of road to the show. There is no "I'm a created rookie, I'l going to start over the 99 overall hall of fame player". It's a grind to get to the top in this game and you are rewarded for your success.
I was SO excited to make it to the majors, but quickly realized I need to work on my batting. I can make solid contact, but it's either a foul ball or straight to a player.Comment

Is RTTS worth playing ? I haven't tried it at all ever. LoL. Is it better then Be A Pro Mode in EA NHL ?

Re: Official MLB 17 : Road to the Show Thread
It is really good IMO it was the mode that got me back into the series years ago but I will say it is very very easy to become overpowered which is fine. For people that may be looking for a more sim approach for your player you have to handicap yourself because sooner or later you will more than enough of training points you can use.
