You can't. Only on Pro. You can use HFR on a 1080p TV but you need to have a Pro.

Sorry. Didnt see all the other responses at first.

As far as I know Mill hasn't confirmed there is no downsampling on 1080p displays. I could be wrong but I don't think anyone outside of SCEA knows this for sure yet. We just need to wait and see. There is a chance it is built in and done automatically and we just can't tell unless we compare the image directly to a vanilla PS4

Again though hopefully will see for myself or we get official word from digital foundry or SDS themselves
It is a very curious situation. It's the first time since Pro released that I have heard of Pro enhancements being handled quite like this. There is really no reason for there NOT to be downsampling for 1080p users, but the whole deal with enhanced visuals being a 4k display only mode is confusing as well.

My local Best Buy is finally getting Pro consoles in stock on Wednesday. Only reason I may hold off is because of a possible new Pro (with a UHD drive) coming in the future (total rumor and possible speculation on my end, take no stock into this whatsoever) and a $25 off Visa Checkout promotion should one exist in the future. I'm not able to game much right now anyway, not even tomorrow when I pick up the game!

The other question is on this. Do we get downsampling in 1080p? Do we also get it in HFR mode? If neither, can they patch it in at least without HFR so we can select 4K or Enhanced mode?

Hmm, time will tell on this one...
Hopefully we have answers within the next 24 hours

Well I just got a pro. Just put 2k in and the machine makes a whistle sound when playing. Thought I got a bad pro and was about to return it but it seems that is a very common thing. I read when using the pro on high framrate it will make loud noise. That sucks. I'm playing on a 1080p not 4k

Have the developers released comparison screens of the PS4 vs PS4 Pro?

A whistle sound? That doesn't seem normal to me....

This might be a reach, but is it possible that enhanced visuals is 4k only because it uses the 4k framebuffer to downsample to a 1440p image while targetting above 30fps, thus needing the 4k/60hz bandwidth?

I haven't Wars the sound so maybe it was just making noise firing up. NBA 2k17 their is a noticeable difference for me. I played 2k everyday on regular PS4. Just played a half of a quarter and it's a big difference. Smoother it seems. And looks incredible on 1080p

                  Enjoy, my man!

But if you seriously keep hearing a whistling sound, maybe investigate that. My Pro is more silent than my original base PS4

Stupid question but I just pre ordered the MVP edition and it just says PS4 on it. It doesn't say PS4 pro. Am I good? Should it say the show 17 PS4 pro?

Nah, there's not a different version of the game for Pro. The visual options are just built into the game, and can only be accessed when the game is played on a Pro.

If you purchased it through PSN you can preinstall so it's ready at midnight. If you bought digital through another retailer you can't start downloading until midnight. Read through this thread for help if you bought it through PSN:

I'll say it again, those with a reg ps4 and 1080p television will still have what seems like a framerate boost over 16 and way improved graphics. Everyone needs to remember that during every stream, Ramone stated the streams were all on base ps4's. Lets not forget how smooth the gameplay was during those streams and how impressive the graphics were.

I have the game and a base ps4. It is incredible what has been done with this game in a one year cycle. Will ps4 pro have better framerate and graphics yes, but base ps4 framerate and graphics are still very impressive.
