I posted in another thread that maybe they are creating him and they will unlock him once the makes his debut. On the legal side, maybe they already have an agreement with him or he's already in the players association since his signing process was so different.

          Fingers crossed with this,

it would be the first time ever if this happened, because guys like Tanaka Davish Jose, never were in the game.

my biggest fear is that we will have to wait till Mid April for the update for him to be in the game which would be a major pain for roster makers to sit on this. because if he is indeed in the game and not a created player then we can't simply export and import him, meaning OS rosters will have to take a big longer waiting on this one change.

There is no legal binding to a batting stance....

ok, i assumed when Ramone said 'we don't have the rights for kevin youkilis stance' that it meant that it isn't able to be in the game.

I just hope we can edit 2 way players so we don't have to wait for the update. I don;t think they will let us though because of the 'online cheese' reason which makes us offline people and roster makers suffer.

The fact they have his stance in the game and him being a pitcher tells me that this year it's gonna happen. I bet Ramone didn't us seeing that and it showed by accident haha

                Edit

It could also be possible they have him created twice in the game. it would sacrifice a roster spot however

It would be pretty stupid to have to make two versions of him when all they need to do is allow him to show up in the lineup screen.

There's no way they will force us to waste two spots on the roster for the same guy. I wouldn't worry about that at all.

I just hope they let us choose pitchers for the DH spot. That's the easiest fix and a no brainer if you ask me. It also doesn't seem like it would be a hard thing for them to implement.

Yeah i mean pitchers appear on the menu when you try to pinch hit so it's possible, Pat Venditte made them incorporate switch pitchers so wouldn't be the first time they are in a situation like this.

Re: Shohei Otani in The Show

Difference between MLB and Japan using the stats of the main players that played in both leagues. On avg the pitchers ERA increase 1.05 when moving from Japan to MLB and the hitters OBP goes down 47 points while SLUG goes down by 107 for a 154 decrease in OPS when moving from Japan to MLB.

                        Shohei Ohtani:

                        As Hitter

OPS last 2 years JPN .981
                        Calculated OPS MLB .827

Similar LHB in 17 (J. Bruce, B. Belt)

                        As Pitcher

ERA last 2 years JPN 2.07
                        Calculated ERA MLB 3.12

Similar ERA in 17 (Severino, Stroman, Greinke)

                        Note
This is the drop off of a player playing full time as either position player or pitcher not as a 2 way player which would make the player regress more given the fatigue impact and not being able to focus training 100% in neither.

but Pat Venditte was a inbuilt player in the game, Otani will just be a created player a HUGE difference this is, unless something completely unique and different has happened for him

I personaly think this experiment won't work anyway, and by may and June they will give up on him hitting.

You obviously didn’t watch him hit in Japan then lol. And are probably underrating the Japanese league.

The Angels can't just "give up on him hitting". He signed for way less than market value and received assurances that would not happen. That was the whole point of his recruiting process.

Again, this issue is not going away. Even if Ohtani flops, there are and will be others. McKay was just rated as the #5 LHP prospect, as well as the #1 1B prospect.
