The salary thing is a MLBPA call and isn’t something they are willing to change or it would have.

they say mlbpa doesn't want real contract values. in fact real contract values aren't official known are they?

so i guess they just make up some contract numbers.

i suggested a different way to get fictional values.

You know the one thing I was thinking now that they streamlined everything (well 2 things) would be corrected - get rid of the pop-ups in 30 team control for every team that is set to auto everything (I don't care that the Texas League all-star game is coming up). Also, it would be nice to start a franchise from a particular phase (like in Madden) - fast forward and start right at the draft with everything simulated, etc.

So, if you are going to streamline everything, actually make it streamlined.

The only question I pose every year when it is time for the show to come out, have they updated the records to break to include more things?

What was always interesting to me was the MLB 2k series had real salaries. The reasoning of why it could not be in the show did not make sense with the other game having it.

Just disappointed...unfortunately already paid and pre-ordered on psn so I'll pick up mlb 18. But think it'll be my last one until they properly revamp rtts and franchise.

Let's be honest they haven't given us any of the major things we've requested.

Rtts...sure they redid the progression system but how long have we requested something to do with your money that we actually get paid...making it worthwhile getting a big contract etc. Making the mode more immersive. And no they didn't remove micro transactions...just made it more of a necessity for people wanting a 99 rated player to have to buy equipment.

Franchise...I want to be able to upgrade my stadium, the seats of the stadium. Add seats to my stadium...alter ticket prices maybe ever per section. Set parking prices. I want to be able to add food vendors, restaurants and set prices for all of that. I want the power to choose the grass pattern of my field and manage the condition of the over the season. Manage sponsorship's and their placements in my stadium.

Oh wait...all those franchise features were in MLB 07 The Show. Why have it been taken out?

That is the frustration...we had a much more in depth franchise more than a decade ago...and now we must be happy getting scraps every year for improvements that are being sold as "Look at our completely revamped franchise mode"...

It just doesn't sit well with me sorry.

I should've known this was coming when I read the blog...when they started off explaining what franchise mode is then you know you are in trouble. Meaningless filler to stretch out the article.

Man I use to tell everyone The Show and NBA 2k are by far the best representations of their respective sports. The attention to detail far outdoes any other sport franchise etc. I had so much faith in SDS and can remember to this day when I saw this trailer of MLB 09 The Show:

It blew me away...how can a development company do so much in an one year cycle.

These days it just isn't there anymore imo. The Show has fallen behind FIFA, Madden, NBA 2K in regards to graphics and have fallen so far behind 2K in regards to overall quality and franchise mode as well as total package. I even rate FIFA and Madden's franchise/career modes over The Show's. Why has this happened? I get they have a smaller team, but they also have only one platform to develop for...Sony resources etc.

Let's be honest...since MLB 2K was cancelled the annual improvements to The Show has drastically become less. They are definitely playing it safe and since having no competition there just isn't the drive to put the best game out anymore. It happened to Madden and now is happening to The Show. FIFA and NBA 2K...although not great competition, both have competition and they simply can't rest on their laurels. I really hope someone else enters baseball gaming as we are getting ripped off currently imo.

I'm just not as excited for The Show to come out like I use to...and it sucks. How the mighty have fallen...

That video also shows me how player body models and uniform physics haven't changed much in the last decade. That's the next big overhaul/change/improvement that I want in this series.

Graphics in general have fallen way behind other sport franchises imo.

I mean people have been up in arms about the grass and dirt textures etc. years back...and seemingly have given up as you don't even hear those complaints anymore.

What community? The Show Nation and Operation Sports MLB The Show communities have not been "demanding nothing but phases since like forever".

I would go as far as to say that 90% of the people here right now wanted a deeper and more intuitive franchise mode. '

We don't say "nah, ya know what...i'd rather just have phases instead" because even though I don't understand the concept of baseball's offseason duties I'm too lazy to just Google it so please spend the resources all year to make phases to break it down.

Sorry but having phases isn't going to make you understand salary arbitration any better, or contract renewals, qualified or unrestricted free agents if you don't know what that is. lol Phases is just streamlining the entire MLB year so you know what to do next, but if you don't understand the concept then you still need to 'learn what it is and how it functions in the MLB'.

I play ALL sports games and anything I don't understand, I turn a little bit to my left and just google it and boom I learned it.

What I find interesting is that last week some long term RTTS fans were not happy because of changes they made to the progression (mainly caps) and many franchise players basically said the changes might get them to try RTTS this year. So overall they thought that was a good thing.

This week Franchise players are not happy with the changes (or lack there of) made in Franchise. Yet in the two main threads about it I have seen several RTTS and DD players say that they may give it a try because Phases makes things more understandable. But somehow franchise fans don't see that as a good thing.

Did they say if we can create our own manager/coaches or edit the existing ones?

I'd like to be able to edit the uniform # of the coaches in the event that they are incorrect. It would also be nice to decide if the coaches wear pants or high socks.

And in the situation with the Yankees where even though they've had a famous no facial hair policy for 45 years, the devs love to give the Yankees coaches beards, lol.

So since Aaron Boone isn't going to be in the game this year, if the manager they give the Yankees is some 9 foot tall guy with a beard wearing uniform #79....I'd like to be able to either CHANGE what's wrong, or create my own manager.

Love that they brought back the ability to easily see how much money I have left in my budget to spend on players/coaches/scouts. No more trying to do math based on weekly budget.

Man, some of you all are extremely nit picky. This is the best baseball game out period and has been for a very long time. I appreciate that kind of longevity in excellence. I can't wait for 18!

very disappointed.

I know I risk the ire of many posters by being "negative" about the game and the developers (to the point that I now rarely post on this forum and only read for info) but it's high time they stop getting a pass. Franchise has been barely touched for several years. I can't speak on phases since I "get" the details of running a franchise, but if it helps some then great. But beyond that and dealing with the retirement issue (which is a good thing) nothing was done.

I've heard about "better trade logic" in video games for years. And it never works, so I have no expectations for that. But if they weren't going to add major changes to franchise mode then I hope they at least did something about regression/progression. Year after year it's messed up, then they overcompensate the other direction the next year. I honestly can deal with franchise being the same (and using 30 team control to eliminate dumb trades) if they have fixed regression/progression.

But it is sad that they haven't kept up with NBA2k or Madden in franchise with a more immersive world. Expansion, create a stadium, more stats/record tracking (2k is wonderful on this). Year after year I simply don't feel franchise has changed much. It's an afterthought to a company that is thoroughly focused on other revenue producing modes and apparently doesn't have the resources (or chooses not to have them) to work on other things. NBA2k may be pushing micro transactions like crazy but they still have been adding things to franchise mode year after year.

I bought The Show because I like to play video game baseball but I can't say I'm happy with the continued focus on only revenue producing modes to the detriment of everything else.
