    Total = 21.8 / 10 = 2.18 average.

    2.18 x 9 (value of WAR according to 1st post) x 1 year left = 19.62

    19.62 - 5 M contract = 14.62
For what it's worth, you did that math 100% correctly

He did, I was trying to get a quick number for him and accidentally used 2017 twice (once for both teams he played on).

You're good, he just mentioned he was trying to learn it so I wanted him to know he was on the right path

Thanks! I wasn't expecting much to be fair.

For Pillar (52) to SF. I have Chris Shaw (45 FV = 11M), Aramis Garcia (40 FV), and Tyler Beede (45 FV = 11M).

Basically, I have their top two prospects and number 6, but it only equals a little more than half of Pillar's value. This doesn't seem right.

Looking at the Marlins as they are competing, but lost Brinson to injury. Would Dillon Peters or Tyler Kolek (40 FV) be a lottery pick, or do I have to look further down the chain?

I don't have an issue with either of those guys going back your way. You have the right idea on a return value. Peters shows more upside than Kolek but he's also already 25. Those play a large part in determining how much of a lottery pick they are. Good selections.

Cool, thanks a lot! Starting to make sense to me now. Any advice for my Pillar to Giants issue? How do I get 52 M of surplus when their top prospect is only 45FV ?

It is 2020 and the Mets are an empty shell right now. I think it is time to move the following guys but I want to get some opinions. Are these okay? I know New York is high on these guys and as I'm a Rangers fan, I'm naturally trying to overpay. Conforto is in ARB, deGrom is on an expiring contract and Cespedes still has three years on his contract.

NYM REC: Seth Romero | Chi Chi Gonzalez | Ariel Jurado | Leody Taveras | DeLino DeShields Jr. | Julio Pablo Martinez
TEX REC: Jacob deGrom | Michael Conforto

                  NYM REC: Kyle Tucker
                  HOU REC: Yoenis Cespedes

He gets traded to a different team. You're describing trying to fit a square peg into a round hole

I'll have to dive into the first one more but I can't see the Astros trading a young elite prospect for an old pricey outfielder even if Cespedes is very good

It looks like Gamecock already responded and I'll agree. Sometimes these teams just aren't good trade partners. Off the top of my head, I think you could take a look at some of these teams:

                        Cleveland
                        Minnesota (Corner Outfielder maybe?)
                        Atlanta (Corner Outfielder maybe?)

I agree. They make the most sense given need and a failure (in my franchise) to get out of the ALDS the last two years. I wonder if maybe a package of Reed and Dawson is more appropriate?

I did some testing today. If you trade a player one a 1 year contract in Spring Training. The team taking in the player has the ability to give a QO to the player.

I know that's allowed in real life. Just didn't know how it would work in game.

Well it depends. If Tucker is still in AAA at age 24-25. I don't think he's really considered a top tier prospect.

So the trade could work. Dependant on what's happening in the franchise.

For teams who need outfielder. For my Adam Jones trades it always came down to the Angles, Indians, and Mets.

Cespedes would be a 34 year old rental on a $25 million dollar contract. Just not much surplus there but yeah, if the actual facts of the franchise were a certain way it could work
