    Mike Soroka (17.30) + Ian Anderson (10.75)

The Phillies and Braves trades are moreso for 2019 years when they're competing and need a good reliever. Trade for the now and future.
    Just off of face value.

    Braves say no.

Dodgers hesitate hard, and say no.

    Phillies hang up fast.

    Cubs might mull.

    Cardinals bail.

    Astros mull.

A large part of the problem with these is that the value of the prospects is too low. You're teetering on getting Verdugo alone, nevertheless with White and Alvarez included. Same goes with most of the others.

Colorado fan might want to weigh in but I think the Rockies value Dahl far more than Tapia. I think they see him as a staple in the future.

Yeah. I personally thought Astros was the best match.

I figured Braves and Phillies we're ling shots.

The Dodgers we're be a battle to figure out. Take out Alvarez for a lottery ticket and discussion changes.

That's what I assumed given his success in the majors a couple of years ago before he was hurt.

Good enough, I'll stick with Tapia. Thanks!

                Speaking of player value.

Griffin Canning moving into the Top 100 really fudged up my potential Angel trades.

As a Rangers fan, any Angels prospect moving into the Top 100 fudges up my life, so I feel ya.

Smoak (13.2) to Colorado for Pint (15.1 value). Smoak is hitting .324 with 20 homers so he will be valuable for the Rockies at Coors field. Otherwise, looking at Hamson + Castellani.

Pillar (52 surplus) to SF for Chris Shaw +/- SP prospect like Suarez. Otherwise, maybe Aramis Garcia, Heliot Ramos/Austin Slater and a lottery ticket? Not familiar with the Giants system so will need help with this. Only Ramos is on the spreadsheet with 24.1 value. I could also add Jaime Garcia (close to 4) as an added bonus to get a little more from them and allow them to fill two positions of need.

Morales for Adrian Gonzalez, Desmond Lindsay. I’ll take on Agon to get something of value for Morales (batting around. .300 with 17 HR) if possible. I also looked at Cleveland but couldn’t be sure of what to take back.

Hey guys, so quick question about how we’re tabulating surplus value + a proposed deal of my own. I’m thinking of loading up for the Vlad era as the Jays, so Donaldson is likely on the move. On our spreadsheet, we have Machado higher than Donaldson. However, using bWAR, I’m getting a higher mark for JD, even taking their salary discrepancy into account.

I wasn’t under the impression I could land a Soto level ‘spect for JD, but if we’re calling this trade even, I would like to work something out between the Nats and Jays along these same lines. My math or methodology could be off (and if so, let me know), but could something like:

Donaldson + pen arm for Soto + 10-20 ‘spect (x2) work here? JD is outperforming Bards Machado, Rendon & the pen are struggling and Rendon would slide to 2nd base, Murphy into the outfield in all likelihood. I think this works as well as this agreed upon trade, without the same-state tax for the Nats, plus they get a ‘pen arm.

$13 million. He was a 45fv preseason and he's a hard throwing relief pitcher who's allergic to striking anyone out

I agree. How does a guy that throws up to 105 have 11 strikeouts in 22 innings

I don't have the time to work out a deal so maybe someone else can help you flesh this out a bit more. With that said, the reason that Machado is fetching so much in this deal is because of the "in-state" like rivalry that Boston and Washington has. This is being treated like an inner-division trade more or less, whereas Toronto and Washington have nothing like that. Soto is probably a possibility for you but I think realistically, you're only getting one additional piece in this deal and it's probably a 15-20 guy in their farm.

To add to this, I don't think Washington is as motivated to go after a guy like Donaldson as they would be to get a guy like Machado who is younger and has a budding relationship with the guy Washington is desperately hoping to resign.
