Re: Lack of attention to franchise mode..thoughts?
At present, if you edit the values to be about 75-80% of their real values then the game copes alright, but the actual values just cause major problems down the road.
Hopefully they are fully aware of this and edited the system to cope, but it would be great to hear them say that.Comment

Real contracts. If they've done it right, then it's a great addition, but that means rebalancing the financial system to make everyone have more money than present. If they've just edited the players contract values to what they are in real life, with no changes to the system, then it will break the game as after a couple of years teams cannot afford to sign anyone (as that's what happen if you edit them yourself to be the real values now)

I was able to get IRL players such as AJ Pollack to sign for 4 years 80 million even though I'm game he wanted 6 years 150.
Takes time to in off-season but you can balance out contracts to not break the game.

Re: Lack of attention to franchise mode..thoughts?
Yea, I am disappointed just like the rest of the franchise guys here..I am a big franchise player with a little bit of RTTS.
But like someone else said here, I am getting older and starting to appreciate things in life. Anything we get from from SDS to me is a bonus IMO. It is what it is and we have no control. MLBTS is still an excellent baseball video game experience regardless if we didn't get what we wanted and begged for. They at least added a couple of new decent features like contract extension, real salaires and upped the presentation a little.
Think about it, if we didn't have MLBTS we would be stuck with that other baseball game that just released and that would be very sad for us true console video game baseball fans. So try to enjoy MLBTS while we still have it!

Re: Lack of attention to franchise mode..thoughts?
If the financials were adjusted and balanced for real contracts then that would be enough for me to pick up the game at some point. If just edited contracts without, I'll pass.
I never played the osfm with real contracts because it messed up trade logic and financials.
The extensions I hope are not utilized by the CPU. It rarely happens in real life and I would be afraid the CPU would abuse it.

Re: Lack of attention to franchise mode..thoughts?
I understand everyone is skeptical about the contracts but since they put in the real contracts themselves I would think they would patch it if there are problems. I know there is a slim chance but really I would be happy if they tuned some of the logic and such with a patch after releaseComment

Re: Lack of attention to franchise mode..thoughts?
Speaking of that, what is a "real life contract" for a league filled with fictionals?
Does it mean players will demand real life-type contracts as well as MLB guys having their irl contracts? I already have players in franchise making what Machado will be so I wonder what they'd make on a carryover or their next contract negotiation/extension?"Some people call it butterflies, but to him, it probably feels like pterodactyls in his stomach." --Plesac in MLB18Comment

Re: Lack of attention to franchise mode..thoughts?
As I mentioned in the Season mode thread. It looks like MLB is on the brink of announcing new roster and rule changes that will drastically change the game starting in 2020.
That announcement alone will force the game developers to have to make Franchise a priority because they will have to completely overhaul it from the ground up to incorporate the changes
More or less everything added to the game this year has been for the benefit of other modes, old or new. There’s really nothing exclusively franchise based. Of course, if they see any future in MTO then new roster rules might be changed so they benefit franchise incidentally.Comment

Re: Lack of attention to franchise mode..thoughts?
A minor thing, but it's a shame the contract extensions only start from the following year, it renders them almost pointless as I could just offer the exact same contract in the exact same way at the end of the season. It's not as if the logic for whether or not they agree will change, so essentially nothing changes.
That means it won't be the fix for the minor leaguer not making league minimum morale problem as you won't be able to give them a pay improvement for that year.Comment

Re: Lack of attention to franchise mode..thoughts?
I dont understand all the negativity towards franchise mode on all of these threads. I have been playing the show since the very first one came out. I'm not sure what all you guys expect from franchise mode it already has everything in that a real gm or manager can do during a season. There is no reason for them to make a huge change to this mode. Now yes there definitely are some tweaks and things needed but in no way they need to do a complete overhaul. Franchise mode is the only mode I play in this game. I play every pitch of every inning and absoulouty love this game. For me presentation and gameplay is the only thing that matters.
With all of that said I haven't seen enough yet for me to buy 19 right away. I will buy 19 after I finish year 2 of my Braves franchise on 18. I'm at the end of July in year 2 and just want to finish that season instead of adjusting to 19 in the middle of my season that I'm so locked into. I will be watching my man Armor streams and seeing how long it takes him to get the sliders on lock before I make the move. But you never know he may change my mind. Lmao.

Re: Lack of attention to franchise mode..thoughts?
My thought on franchise mode currently is that they haven't touched it, and likely will never make significant changes to it. There is still no Single-A, there is still four to five rounds of the draft with barebones scouting, there is still no advanced statistics, and they can't even put in the little things like rotating interleague schedules or rain delay games. March to October does sound like fun, but it's limited in scope and should have been integrated into franchise mode.
I've come to the conclusion that The Show isn't for me anymore. It still plays a fun game and I enjoy Play Now and Postseason modes, but the lack of a deeper franchise mode limits the fun that I have. OOTP is a difficult game to get into, but once I got used to not playing out the games, it became my go to. I figure for a lot of the more disenchanted players on here, it would be a good fix for you too. Heck, their card collecting mode is even better than SCEAs.
I hope that when the next generation rolls around, SCEA will tear up franchise mode and really dig deep into it. Unfortunately with their track record, they might tear it up and not tell us until preorders are in...Rangers - Cowboys - Aggies - Stars - Mavericks

Once again, nobody is saying that they need a complete overhaul. There are fundamental things broken in the mode that should have been fixed years ago. Draft/ draft logic, rotational schedules, correct uniforms, contracts (we will see if this is actually going to work), advanced stats, historical stats.Comment
