3 Game home series vs Chicago
July 30- Aug 1

Game 2:
Gomber vs Hendricks

This was an all out pitchers duel until the 6th inning when Gomber hit the wall that Hendricks would blow right past en route to a complete game shutout, striking out 10! He got in a zone early that the Cardinals just simply never could get past! Williams and Banks had huge days again as Williams is fighting for (and has a legitimate shot at) the triple crown!

Game 3:
Gibson vs Darvish

Gibson looked sharp and was very effective through 5, but had a lot of tough outs and was forced to throw a lot of pitches, chasing him from the Game way earlier than the Cardinals hoped! Forcing a very over used bullpen (lately) into action! And they would get caught! St Louis’ offense would put up a solid fight, but fall short, stranding the bases loaded in the 9th down by 2 with Hornsby at the plate!

Heartbreaking series, as the Cardinals now must kind of admit to themselves that the division belongs pretty securely to the Cubs, and shift their focus to the wildcard race that they are 1 game out of, but now tied with the hard charging Phillies club. Bottom line, they must clean up their game and hopefully get hot in these last couple months! This is where they define who they are!

Next up, a west coast trip with a quick 2 game set in Oakland, then on to LA where they face a Dodgers team who are presently chasing history with a 21 game winning streak! Doing well on this trip could certainly turn morale back around if they can prove capable of hanging with a couple of the best teams in the league!

The 2025 Cubs are now 61-43 and are running away with the central 7.5 games up. Its been the perfect storm that has led to this divisional turn around. over the last 3-4 weeks the cubs have put together a 17-5 run and Cincy and St. Louis have had their worst seasonal slumps.

Kris Bryant added 2 more hits in my last game and is now hitting .286 with 34 Hrs and 84 Knocked in. Harper continues to rake and is sitting at .330 with 37 bombs and 107 batted in.

I am now 2 games before the trade deadline.

He’s a machine! That entire lineup in this franchise is relentless! Very nerve racking games! There’s pretty much nobody you can pitch around without the feeling that you very likely might be adding a run. Just gotta suck it up and go after whoever is up, or the next guys gonna make you pay. Ryno always makes at least a couple plays in the field that drive me nuts too.

Texas Rangers Update Season 2 : MOM Spring Training Update

Well its been a while since my last update. The Rangers finished last season with a terrible 68-94 record. Due to a glitch in the game I lost Gallo and Deshields to trades that I was never notified were even in the making until I got a pop up saying they were gone. I chalked them up as owner moves. We did have some positives. Drew Smyley had 17 wins. Mike Minor 15. Problem is that was almost half our wins last season, so the rest of the starters were not so good. We did have a great off-season though. I tried to sign Garrett Cole but he opted for Oakland. I did get Tanner Roark however. I also inked Anthony Rendon to a massive 10 year contract. He now appears to be the Adrian Beltre Heir apparent. My other signing was Vizcaino to the bull pen.

Last season saw the Phillies win the World Championship. They beat the Astros in 7 games.

Here is a run down of my line up going in to the last week of Spring Training

C- Jose Trevino (Its time to play Jose, I let Kiner Falefa walk as well as Mathis. Jett Bandy was offered arbitration after a solid 260 season)

1B- Todd Frazier ( After a 210 season i didn't offer Ronald Guzman arbitration. I instead am hoping the Todd Father can provide some veteran leadership)

2B- Roughned Odor ( 270 with 23 HR's last year. A corner stone in the rebuilding)

SS- Elvis Andrus ( 295 with 20 Hr's, the future Hall of Famer continues to Rake)

3B- Anthony Rendon ( 10 years 26.3 Mil per, he better be special)

LF- Logan Forsythe ( Hit 235 last year. Wasn't going to sign him again. Went through the whole Free Agent period unsigned so I brought him back for 2 years. Love his ability to play anywhere on the field)

CF- Jose Pirela ( Real sketchy guy. Terrible spring. I did get Aaron Altehr. He is killing the ball in Spring and could win this open job)

RF Nomar Mazara (275 with team leading 28 Hr's. A cornerstone for the Rangers)

DH- Ronald Torreys ( Choo Retired. This spot is iffy. We will see)

Pitchers

1. Minor
2. Roark
3. Smyley
4. Lynn ( 4.8 ERA. Needs to cut back on walks)
5. Volquez (OK high 4 ERA)

Pen

1. Leclerc (35 saves last year
2. Vizcaino ( Former Braves closer signed to set up for 8 years)

Note

Spring Training Bug is still there. No subs at all in played games for CPU. I know it was posted that it was fixed but it definitely has not been touched. No subs unless you sim game

1 month down and it has been a rough ride so far. We are 14-18, tied with the White Sox for 2nd. 8.5 games back of the Indians for 1st and 5.5 back of the 2nd Wild Card. We went 5-14 from April 2nd to the 23rd. 5-2 since then with 4 straight wins. The Indians have the best record in the AL at 23-10. Reds lead the NL at 22-8. Blue Jays have the worst record in the majors at 10-24. Braves worst in the NL at 10-21.

The offense has been terrible. We fired our hitting coach after our game on the 23rd after putting up 1 run on 8 hits in 14 innings. We are hitting .243/.311/.399. Have scored 115 runs with 25 of those (21%) coming in the last 4 games.

Ryan O'Hearn has been our only reliable hitter. He is hitting .350/.392/.547 with 5 HR. Our next best hitters is Whit Merrifield with a .757 OPS. And Jorge Soler with a .755 OPS. Mondesi has been dreadful through the first month. .204/.263/.324 with just 1 HR in 108 AB.

The pitching is a bit better. But not by much. We have a 4.01 ERA, No Complete Games, no Shutouts, 25th in HR allowed and last in Strikeouts. We do have the least walks allowed though.

Seems like Brad Keller is back to being good again. 2.66 ERA and a 0.93 WHIP in 44 IP. Jake Junis has a 3.18 ERA and 1.11 WHIP in 39.2 IP. Duffy has struggled through his first 4 starts. 6.48 ERA. His 1.36 WHIP is the same as last year. His walks are down by over 1.5 per 9 IP. But his Strikeouts re down by just under 1 and his HRs allowed are way up. 2.52/9 after 0.77/9 last season. BP is good for the most part. McCarthy, McAllister and Warren all have ERAs under 2 and Zimmer is at 2.95. Hill and Staumont are the complete opposites. Hill has a 5.54 ERA and 1.69 WHIP while Staumont has a 4.96 ERA. Though his FIP is just 2.88 so hopefully he can improve.

Some transactions in the organization.
Spoiler

The offense has been bad. The Pitching has been less than ideal. And yet we are only 4 games under .500. We have 31 games before the Draft. 21 of them against teams currently under .500. Split pretty evenly with 15 at home and 16 on the road. Hopefully, we can get back over .500. If not I really hope some vets start to heat up so we can shop them around as we get closer to the AS break.
I know you are a big Royals fans. Love your posts. Playing on MOM they actually won their division in my 1st year. Got swept by the Yankees in the Divisional round. Just shocked they actually won the division. Cleveland nor Minnesota made the playoffs. Indians were 2.5 games out. Minnesota never contended

2 Game away series in Oakland
Aug 3-4

Game 2:
Micholas vs Manaea

Micholas may not have had his best stuff, but on this day he was good enough. Because on this day the Cardinals bats would show up ready to play and provide plenty of run support. Micholas would hand a 9-4 lead to Vizcaino and the pen in the 8th, and Vizcaino would do his best to single handedly blow it, allowing HRs to Henderson and Laureano shrinking the lead to 9-7 before Sutter would come in and shut down the 8th inning rally and Miller would show no rust from lack of save opportunities with a 1,2,3 ninth, finally ending the 6 game skid!

Next up, first of 3 against the red hot Dodgers who will be trying to tie the MLB record of 26 consecutive wins set by the 1916 NY Giants. This game is coincidently scheduled to be played in New York at that Giants team’s, home park, the famed Polo Grounds! Unfortunately Ebbets Field is not presently available, which would be the Dodgers and their Brooklyn fans preferred venue, but does bring the game close enough to allow for the desired effect. And they did call the Polo Grounds home for a spell, so not without proper history altogether! Should be fun!

I noticed that they gave him attributes more in line with his 1984 mvp season. This was not the case last year. They still have butchered his stance. If you wanted to give him a stance more like his real one I would use the following:

Adam Everett
35 65 19
66
96
31
40
50 50 50
36 50

These are the numbers as they appear on the stance editor. I usually use a 2 handed follow Thru as he went more to that later in his career

This is what I use for my Ryno when I play some exhibitions with older rosters.

Cardinals release Nate Jones

The Cardinals have granted outright release waivers to veteran relief pitcher Nate Jones from their Memphis roster. Jones was signed earlier this year to help add depth to a struggling relief pitching core. Unfortunately Jones never made the big league squad and struggled in his time at Memphis and even Springfield.

Jones is expected to clear waivers and become a free agent.

There are rumblings if this move is in correspondence to another move on the horizon, primarily pertaining to Matt Carpenter. Strong rumors have been circulating that the Cardinals and Blue Jays have been in extensive talks regarding Carpenter.

2023 White Sox Franchise - Heading into Spring Training

White Sox did resign Yoenis Cespedes and Welington Castillo to 1 year deals.

Cespedes may lose his everyday starting job though with the Sox want to give 25 year old Richie Cortez a shot as the every day LF so Cespedes would then platoon at DH with Kyle Seager.

Rumors have the Sox shopping Castillo in the trade market in spring as well as SP Reynaldo Lopez. Lopez never has been able to stick with the Major league club and a change of scenery might be best for the 29 year old to have a chance to start at the MLB level.

SS Elvis Andrus will move to 2B and 2B Luis Urias will move to SS. Urias is a much better fielder and has a stronger arm than Andrus so the Sox feel that Urias is better suited at SS than Andrus.

Other than that the 25 man roster will remain pretty much the same, except for maybe a couple spots on the bench, as the World Series winning 2022 team.

They did add CP prospect Patrick Mackenzie and RP prospect Ken Iwamura to the 40 man to get a look at in Spring training. Both could see time at the MLB later in the season.

I am stuck........I have my "fantasy" Cubs franchise going, but I want to start a real Cubs franchise. My only problem is I dont care much for Yu Darvish or Cole Hamels also there is the closer situation. Should I try to trade for a closer or should I try to sign Kimbrel to a deal? Any input you awesome franchise players have would be greatly appreciated.

My only problem is I dont care much for Yu Darvish or Cole Hamels also there is the closer situation. Should I try to trade for a closer or should I try to sign Kimbrel to a deal? Any input you awesome franchise players have would be greatly appreciated.

I’m not a fan of Yu Darvish either. But I always run a franchise with the Cubs and try to keep it as realistic as possible. The Cubs are stuck with Darvish for sure for quite a while. Thankfully for me this year, Darvish is my best starter by far. I believe he’s 7-2 with an ERA around 1.90.

To each their own though, run your franchise however you like. That’s just how I do it.
