Do you think I could package Zobrist and Cishek a few decent prospects?

MLB The Show 19 Franchise Discussion Thread

I’m always a fan of running trades through the trade thread. Always interesting discussion there.

It’s where I went when I lost Rizzo for the year and traded for Duda.

The trade thread is a decent resource like someone else said. I would think based on his age and contract you’re not getting a TOP prospect for Zobrist. But a fringy playoff team who needs another versatile bat would probably give up a B prospect for him (in my guess). Based on his overall, the CPU will probably want to trade you an A prospect but thats probably not realistic in today’s game.

Definitely not going to get an A prospect for Zobrist. He's an aging veteran on the last year of his deal. The game might let you pull it off, but like the Russell deal, it would be very unrealistic in my opinion.

Start of a big series, going to do some of these from time to time. I typically stream most of my games but rarely, "advertise," them. Anyway, if you want to tune in I'll be messaging, don't have my headset at the moment and the kids are being obnoxious in the basement anyway. Still going to try to get this game in.

I keep on losing my connection streaming. Gonna have to hard-wire my PS4 to an ethernet cable I guess. I had a 6-0 lead and then got a rain delay. Had to bring Chatwood in and not surprisingly he did his best to give the game away. It's not 6-5 and in the top of the sixth. I had to save the game and will finish it hopefully in the next hour or so.

Re: MLB The Show 19 Franchise Discussion Thread

Scraped this one out by the skin of my teeth. Darivsh, who's been my best pitcher threw a scoreless 3 1/3 innings but then there was a rain delay, something I've never had in the game before. I decided to bring in Tyler Chatwood after the delay and I almost immediately regretted it.

We took a 6-0 lead before the delay with a opposite field, two-run homer by Schwarber in the second inning and then an inning later Schwarber absolutely crushed a ball for a grand slam.

In the top of the fifth I couldn't buy an out. Cardinals had hit after hit and Chatwood had to come out. Mike Montgomery was brought in but didn't fare much better and the Cardinals scored five runs to cut the lead to just one run. Steve Cishek eventually recorded the final two outs of the inning via strikeout.

I had to burn through most of my bullpen but I guess it was worth it since we won. I'm now in sole possession (by one game) of first place for the first time all season (I think). If I had a lead before it was very slim and it didn't last long. Two more games against the Cardinals and my luck seems to continue. I'm 6-1 against them on the year.

I have it set to auto but from time to time I go in and edit things if I see players are falling off in particular areas.

I do the same. Super frustrating when my pitchers are being trained for fielding attributes or my power-hitting corner infielders are being trained to boost their ‘3’ base stealing rating.

MLB 19 the Show - Baltimore Orioles Franchise

                              Start of Regular Season

Spring Training comes to an end, and we looked as bad on the field as we did on paper going 9-18 in preseason action. I continue to massage the roster with a flurry of transactions trying to weed the sub-par talent out and put forth a somewhat competent team in year 1. Among our significant transaction were the following:

Claimed 1B Hanley Ramirez off waivers from Cleveland

                              Additional Free Agent Signings:
                              C/OF Evan Gattis
                              OF Chris Coghlan
                              RHP Mat Latos
                              RHP Brandon Cumpton

We also acquired IF Hernan Perez from Milwaukee for a mid-tier pitching prospect.

Dylan Bundy looked strong in Florida and he earns the opening day nod at Yankee Stadium on the 28th. Here is the rotation behind him, all righties:

                              Dylan Bundy
                              Alex Cobb
                              Dan Straily
                              Mat Latos
                              Brandon Cumpton

I’ve been a fan of Latos for a long time. He’s not the guy he once was though (we had to fish both him and Cumpton from the local Independent League Maryland Blue Crabs). Maybe we’ll get lucky with one of them. Andrew Cashner was DFA’ed and successfully outrighted to AAA.

Ryan Madson was signed as a free agent prior to ST and was named the closer to start the season. Heres the pen:

                              R Ryan Madson
                              R Mychal Givens
                              L Paul Fry
                              L Richard Bleier
                              L Sean Gilmartin
                              R Noe Ramirez
                              L Tanner Scott

Randall Delgado (another ST free agent signing) got pounded in Grapefruit League action and was optioned to AAA.

Heres the opening day starting lineup, to face Yankees lefty James Paxton:

                              CF Jonathan Villar
                              3B Brandon Drury
                              LF Trey Mancini
DH Chris Davis (must have heard I’m not afraid to waive him - he hit .300/.400/.500 in ST)
                              RF Evan Gattis
                              2B Hernan Perez
                              1B Hanley Ramirez
                              SS Tim Locastro
                              C Pedro Severino

                              Bench-
                              C Jesus Sucre
                              IF Drew Jackson
                              IF Ramiro Pena
                              OF Chris Coghlan

At least 50% of my roster was acquired in the past month it seems. Almost all of those acquisitions were cast-offs from other teams. The outlook for the season is not a good one, but the games need to be played.

So after kicking it all around, I have decided to stand pat with the current Cubs team and start the franchise with what I got. I will be having spring training battles such as who will be the closer, as well as the final few bench and bullpen spots. I will still be posting updates as I was with my "fantasy" franchise.
I will be doing updates like this:
                                1. Season preview
                                2. Spring training final update
                                3. Opening day coverage
                                4. Monthly recaps
                                5. Major series recaps
                                6. Any kind of major alerts (such as call ups, trade, ect.)
                                7. Draft day
                                8. Trade deadline update
                                9. I will be posting all postseason updates whether I make it or not.

Hoping for a great and exciting season and letting the season play out how ever it may
