    4. Monthly recaps
    5. Major series recaps
    6. Any kind of major alerts (such as call ups, trade, ect.)

Nice! Looking forward to seeing how another Cubs franchise goes. Me and a friend both play our own franchises every year with the Cubs and it’s always fun to see how it goes.

I am gonna try to go as realistic as possible only thing is I will not have anyone injured. I am pretty excited about it and excited to see what kind of young prospects I can develop on top of some that I already have. I do usually change the names of some just so i can have their name used in the game by announcers. It annoys me hearing and now number 43 on the mound.

I have been really impressed with yours and the grind you are going through. Was sad when Rizzo got hurt tho.

I'm still holding out a prayer that he makes a Schwarber-like return late in the season and even the World Series if I make it that far. If you remember Schwarber played in just three games in 2016 and was out for the entire year... and then came back for the World Series.

However, I'm into June now and Rizzo's injury is still showing up as 6+ months, so I'm guessing it's an extremely long shot.

I remember when Schwarber went down and came back in the world series......it was like the impossible happening and just pumped me up even more. That sucks about Rizzo still showing as 6+months hope the game doesnt make it a career ending injury you know.

Yeah, I’ve thought and worried about that as well. I may un-injure him at the end of my season just to make sure.

Re: MLB The Show 19 Franchise Discussion Thread

One of the best finishes I've had in a while. Cole Hamels was dealing until the ninth. He was able to get two outs but a pair of hits brought the tying run to the plate as I held onto a 3-0 lead. I decided to go to Pedro Strop to get the final out.

Paul Goldschmidt was on second base and Harrison Bader (I think) lined a ball hard to centerfield. I went into replay and noticed something I thought was pretty cool that only a game like The Show would have. The Cardinals third base coach was holding up Goldschmidt but he decided to try to score anyway. He did not take a good angle from third to home and kind of hesitated and slowed him down just a bit, which was perfect because the throw from centerfield from Jason Heyward was JUST in time to nab him at the plate for the final out. A definite fist-pump moment for me. I couldn't believe it.

That puts me at my season high 35-28 on the year and I'm now 2.0 games up in first place (the largest lead I've had). I'm 7-1 against the Cardinals this year somehow and if I can complete the sweep it would be awesome because I'm scared of what's about to go down with the Rockies series in Colorado coming up next. They scored 16 runs in the first two games against me at Wrigley.

For those that are deeper into their franchise.

How is player progression/regression this year? Are young starters progressing in stamina or is it still staying stagnant?

Lastly, how is the draft pool looking? I noticed last year that after 2-3 seasons, there were a lot of 23 and 24 year olds that were listed as draftable players.

I finally started a franchise with the lowly Tigers and I’m curious as to what I get to look forward to.

I don’t recall seeing any 23 or 24 year old as draftable players. I had a ton of pitchers in my first round (first overall was a second baseman but the other top ten were pitchers).

Not sure about the stamina thing either.

Cardinals Designate Matt Carpenter for Assignment

The Cardinals have designated 37 year old Matt Carpenter for assignment. They will now have 10 days to either trade him, assign him to the minors, or outright release him. The thought is they will just release him and Carpenter will retire.

The Cardinals parted ways with Carpenter in the offseason where he landed with the Braves. After the Braves cut him loose, the Cardinals re-acquired him as a backup to Jon Singleton and Patrick Wisdom at the corners. Unfortunately the reunion is going to be short lived as Carpenter just isn't the same player he was in 2021 before his shin injury. Carpenter is currently hitting just .197 with 3 homeruns and 17 RBI's. His glove work in the field has left something to be desired and is essentially only valuable to the Cards at first base.

The Cardinals informed the other 29 clubs a week or so ago that Carpenter was available but the market is dry for the 37 year old. It seems both parties are content on Carpenter hanging up his spikes.

Paul DeJong is expected to be recalled from Memphis to take Carpenter's roster spot.
I can't shave with my eyes closed, meaning each day I have to look at myself in the mirror and respect who I see.

Re: MLB The Show 19 Franchise Discussion Threadt

Halfway through June in my Yankees franchise. We are 50-22. 12 game lead over the second place Rays.

Started off the month by completing a 4 game sweep of the rival Red Sox. We would then take 2 out of 3 from Toronto before running into trouble in Cleveland losing 2 out of 3. We then split a 2 game set with the Mets.

Before the series with the Mets, 2 trades were announced. The first left many confused and surprised.

Yankees Trade OF Aaron Hicks to SF Giants for SP Tyler Beede, LF Chris Shaw, and SP Sean Hjelle. The Giants are battling for the West and WC and desperately needed OF help. The fit on their side was obvious.

                        Then...
BREAKING NEWS: Yankees Acquire RP Andrew Miller From Cardinals For SP Chance Adams, SP Jonathan Loaisiga, and 1B Greg Bird.

The Yankees take a risk on another struggling player. Miller is 33, was struggling, and is making 11M this year and next year. There’s reason to be concerned as he’s coming off an injury filled 2018. 2019 is an ugly year in St Louis. They sit 15+ games out of the Central 12+ out of the WC. Not even 30 wins yet. For a team that began 2019 with aspirations to take back the Central, this season is simply a massive flop and disappointment. The Cards get back 2 nice pitching prospects and free up a significant chunk of money.

With the Giants contending meaning no MadBum on the market, the Yankees decided to make what will likely be their final move now. Moving Hicks opened up the money to make it happen. Both Hicks and Gardner have seen a large drop off in playing time thanks to Kemp and Frazier. Hicks wasn’t in our long term plans anyway. 10M per year long term is to much to invest in a backup OF.

Miller will hopefully make an already scary bullpen even scarier. If he finds his former dominance, this could potentially be the greatest bullpen in baseball history. Both Adams and Loaisiga joined the Cardinals bullpen immediately.

After that we destroyed the White Sox by scores of 11-1 and 15-4 in the first 2 games of a 4 game set. Game 3 included one of the best comebacks of the 2019 MLB season. Yankees down 5-1 in the ninth on the road. In comes Kelvin Herrera. Judge leads off with a double. Voit would walk after a Torres fly out. Andujar grabs a bat pinch hitting for Tulo. In comes Colome to greet him.

Andujar HITS A 3 RUN BOMB TO LEFT! It’s a 1 run game with 1 out! Sanchez pinch hits for Romine and flys out. 2 outs. Frazier works a walk pinch hitting for Gardner. LeMahieu walks! Kemp hits it up the middle and Frazier scores! Tied game! Stanton singles to center scoring another run! The Yankees have the lead!
We would close it out in the bottom and win 6-5.

The next night featured more late inning magic. Down 4-3 in the ninth. Judge hits a go ahead 2 Run HR! They’ve gotten to Colome again! We would win 5-4.

Next up is a 3 game series vs the Rays in New York.

                        Stories From Around The League:

                        Return Of Didi Gregorius
Didi will make his return and be activated before the start of the Rays series. Another big reinforcement for an already dominant Yankees squad. With the Yankees running with a 3 man bench Tulo will likely be DFA’d as a result. He’s in the midst of a healthy but poor season. The Yankees will check the market for him but it’s likely they’ll end up attempting to pass him through waivers to AAA.

                        Judge MVP Season?
Judge currently leads the AL MVP Race hitting 329 with 33 HR’s and 72 RBI’s. Behind him is Mike Trout.

Astros Springer out 1-2 months with Fractured Forearm.

                        Indians 51-20.
They basically already have the division wrapped up with a 17 game lead. Some will discredit Cleveland and say a weak Central is responsible for most of it. One thing is certain, playoff home field advantage dosen’t care how the record was gotten and what caliber teams the wins were earned off of.

Undoubtedly one of the craziest wins I've ever had on The Show. After taking a 2-0 lead, Jose Quintana did what he's done all year... suck. And before long I find myself trailing 6-2. I manage to push across a run in the bottom of the eighth on a sacrifice fly by Kris Bryant and then the ninth inning rolls around.

Trailing 6-3 the Cardinals turn to Andrew Miller. I draw a walk with Javier Baez to lead off the inning. Next batter is Albert Almora Jr. who walks as well. Then a looping single to right center but I held the runner. Bases loaded and the pitcher's spot is up. I have either Willson Contreras or Ian Happ. I decide to call upon Contreras. Miller hangs a slider and Contreras mashes a no-doubt, walk-off grand slam to end it. I couldn't believe it.

That's a sweep and a three game lead now in the division before a tough seven game road trip against the Rockies and Dodgers. Glad to have at least a little breathing room moving into the next two series. I'm now 8-1 on the year against the Cardinals and 36-28 on the year.

                                Cardinals fire pitching coach Maddux

After dropping 2 out of 3 at home to the Pirates, with late bullpen meltdowns, and their young pitchers just not coming along as quickly as hoped, Cardinals management decided it was time to make a change. Rumors had suggested he was losing trust from much of the staff and it was causing other unwanted issues amongst players and staff. Bottom line is something needs to turn around, and quickly, or the speculation is Shildt would be next.

After the Pittsburgh series and the release of Maddux, the Cards would head down I-70 for a quick 2 Game series against the Royals! Pitching would take center stage as game 1 would be Gibson vs Saberhagen! What an absolute gem of a pitchers duel that the Cardinals would wind up winning 3-1 in the 10th inning! Game 2 was Martinez vs Keller! Martinez was perfect through 7 innings but would allow a pair of hits and a run in the 8th, bringing Sutter in to get the last 4 outs and the save! 5-1 final

On the surface the move seems to have worked so far! Moods are up, expectations are high and the overall feel in the locker room seems immediately improved! Especially among the pitching staff! Let’s hope they can keep it up!
