Re: MLB The Show 19 Franchise Discussion Thread

I'm not sure how many people do this, or even care, but I've been using the correct uniforms (if the game provides them) and the correct daily weather (clear, partly cloudy etc) in the games that I play in my franchise. I just think it adds a touch of realism. If you change the date at the end of the weather link in the top address bar you can go directly to that day without having to click through the dates over and over again.

Cardinals take 2 out of 3 from Braves

The Cardinals won their 3 game series against the NL East leading Braves in Atlanta and now lead the NL Central by 4 games over the Pirates.

After losing the series opener, the Cardinals won the final two games behind a strong offensive performance from the entire team. Pitching, especially the bullpen, was shaky at times, but the Cards' bats proved to be too much for the Braves pitching staff.

The Cardinals will now return home to face the Brewers as the month of August turns to the backside and starts coming to a close.

        Cardinals re-sign Joe Kelly

Nearly 2 months after releasing the veteran, the Cardinals have re-signed RHP Joe Kelly to a one year deal.

The Cardinals parted ways with Kelly earlier this year, but with injuries and performance issues of late, the Cardinals reached back out to Kelly to see if he'd be interested in re-joining the team instead of retiring from the game. Kelly is expected to be with the big league club in St.Louis when they face the Brewers.

No other roster move was announced, but its expected if Kelly is on the active roster, he will replace Pedro Baez.

Cardinals place Jo Adell on 10 Day IL

The Cardinals have placed OF Jo Adell on the 10 Day IL due to a knee sprain suffered in the series finale against the Braves on Wednesday. Adell injured himself running to first on a ground out.

Adell isn't expected to miss more than 2 weeks with the injury.

No corresponding move has been made at this time, though its expected that Jose Adolis Garcia will be recalled from Memphis.

My 2019 Atlanta Braves are on fire! I'm a little over half way through April sitting first in the NL East. The pitching staff is doing great and the bats are starting to really come alive. I still swing at garbage from time to time, but I'm getting better at recognizing pitches, I think. I hit my first grand slam of the year and haven't really had any prolonged injuries of any significance other than Charlie Culberson who was in AAA and is out for 2-3 months, I forget why. I hope that doesn't come back to bite me later on down the road. The only thing though is that I can't seem to hit well with Dansby Swanson. There's something about his swing type that I can't get the grasp of and as much as I like him in real life I dread having to hit with him in the game.

Re: MLB The Show 19 Franchise Discussion Thread

Finally through May with my 2019 Twins. It started out slowing, but we have slowly been creeping towards .500, currently sitting at 26-30.

            AL Central Standings
            White Sox 36-23 ---
            Indians 27-30 8.0 GB
            Royals 27-30 8.0 GB
            Twins 26-30 8.5 GB
            Tigers 24-33 11.0 GB

As you can see, the AL Central is garbage. I am just hoping to keep creeping towards .500 and hope for the White Sox to collapse. Their pitching leads the AL in ERA with a lot of guys overachieving.

As far as my Twins, our pitching has been up and down. We had an ERA well over 5 through about the first month, but have since got it down to 4.70 thanks to better starting pitching. The bullpen is still really hit or miss.

            Perez- 5-3 3.86 ERA 63.0 IP 52 SO
            Pineda- 4-2 3.99 ERA 49.2 IP 40 SO
            Berrios- 4-2 3.51 ERA 66.2 IP 76 SO
            Odorizzi- 4-5 5.88 ERA 56.2 IP 60 SO
            Gibson- 2-4 4.47 ERA 58.1 IP 58 SO

Our offense was awful for the first 1/2 of April but has really turned it on since. We were hitting under .200 as a team at one point, but are now hitting .267. We lead the league in doubles and are second in homeruns.

            Cruz- .278 26 HR 50 RBI
Rosario- .332 15 HR 39 RBI (current 16-game hit streak)
            Kepler- .265 8 HR 19 RBI
            Gonzalez- .310 8 HR 28 RBI
            Buxton- .226 2 HR 18 RBI
Polanco- .257 4 HR 21 RBI (had a horrible May)
            Cron- .243 4 HR 16 RBI
            Garver- .308 2 HR 14 RBI
Schoop- .287 8 HR 25 RBI (currently on the IL)
            Castro- .168 3 HR 8 RBI
            Adrianza- .236 0 HR 10 RBI
            Cave- .237 2 HR 3 RBI
            Sano- .338 6 HR 11 RBI
            Arraez- .263 0 HR 2 RBI

I use the Dynast page on here and have used DynastyNationNetwork before to track my franchise. I like to see how I built my team, where my guys came from, who I traded to get them and how those guys did in the trade vs how my guys have done. Does anyone else use something different (other than google sheets) to track things going on in their franchise?

The Mariners are still looking likely to break the 100 win mark for the season but have cooled off post All-Star break going only 11-6 and suffering to 3 run-skids in the month. Cy Young Front runner Yusei Kikuchi all suffered his first lost of the season, meanwhile Rookie close Felipe Armas also saw his first blown save of his young MLB career. Despite the recent struggles the Mariners find themselves leading the AL West by 20.5 games.

                        Cardinals take series against Brewers

The Cardinals took 3 of the 4 games against the Brewers over the weekend and now lead the Pirates in the Central by 5 games.

The Cardinals did it again with their offense as they continue to get a contribution from someone different each day in the lineup. They also continue to get strong starting pitching, although the bullpen was shaky in 2 of the games, including the loss on Saturday.

Kolten Wong did struggle in the series going just 1 for 13 in the 4 games. The Cardinals will likely let him sit Monday's game against the Rockies to see if just a day off will get his bat back on track.

The Cardinals open a 3 game series at home against the NL West leading Rockies on Monday.

Yes. Bearclaw is a wildcard at this point, and Duggar looks more and more like a failed prospect every year. Whit is the best player on their team on an EXTREMELY friendly deal AND he wants to stay in KC. So IMO, yes it’s an unfair deal. But I am someone who chooses to factor real life elements over overalls and potentials so it’s entirely up to you.

In my franchise playing as dodgers. 4 game series vs Cubs. They run Jon Lester out for the second game. For some reason in all my years playing this I absolutely destroy Lester.

Not tonight. He takes a no no into the 9th and gets the first two out quick. Bellinger comes up for me and with two strikes he hits a dribbler up the mid for a hit. I felt bad for Lester 😂

Never been close to throwing a no no or getting one thrown against me.

Thanks for your input. I too like to factor in real life potentials and not exploit the game. But we also must realize this is a video game franchise in which we can live out our baseball fantasies. So it's hard to know where to draw the line when we are looking for a simulated realism. I wanted Whit before the injury because the Giant's really lack speed and right handed outfield bats. But I may put together something else.
