Yankees Lose 2 Out Of 3 In Toronto, Record is now 102-53

After seemingly having something of a breakthrough in Tampa the Yankees went right back to the way they’ve been playing since the last few days of August losing by scores of 1-2 and 2-11 in games 1 and 2 against the Jays, before getting a desperately needed game 3 win 6-5 in 11 innings.

We did manage to extend our division lead back to 5.5 with that G3 win and will more then likely be able to hold onto the East with 7 games to go, but there’s real reason to be concerned about this team heading into the playoffs. If we take our September kind of play into October, odds are we’re looking at an ALDS exit.

Next: We return to YS to end the regular season with 4 vs the 70-85 Asterisks and the final 3 against the 72-83 Rays. Both teams are eliminated but both would surely love to force a total collapse and bounce us to the WC game.

    News:
Devastating News Out Of Cleveland: Ace Mike Clevinger Tears Rotator Cuff

Clevinger is headed for TJ Surgery. He’ll miss the playoff run and likely miss almost all if not all of next season too. Clevinger was having a career year with a 2.61 ERA, 1.06 WHIP, and 247 K’s, over 193 IP. He was a near lock to secure the AL CY Young. The effects of this are huge.
The 107-49 Indians are still a near lock to win the Central and home field advantage. Cleveland would’ve been the obvious favorite in the AL, but now? Things look a lot more open.
As for the AL Cy Young Award? The the new favorite to win it...Yankees Ace Gerrit Cole

You know I just had a player miss a playoff game because of the flu. I'm glad they added stuff like into the game.

Craziest injury I've ever had in any sports game was from one of the old 2k hockey games.

"Alexander Volchenkov has injured his leg while opening his garage door. He'll be out for two weeks."

My thoughts: "do I not pay him enough to afford a garage door opener?"

Well that’s a rough way to lose a player for a playoff game. Haven’t seen that one before but it’s really cool that stuff is in there. At least it’s not Tatis or Machado?

Cardinals bring back Kolten Wong on one year deal

The Cardinals have reunited with long time Cardinal Kolten Wong on a one year deal at $8MM. The 36 year old was replaced last year by Yoan Moncada and ended up on the Nationals.

He became a free agent this year, and after dealing Yoan Moncada to the Yankees, the Cardinals didn't hesitate to bring the long time Cardinal back home.

Wong is expected to be the everyday second baseman and take up his normal #8 batting slot.

Cardinals trade Josh Rogers to the Angels for prospects

The Cardinals have made their 2nd trade of this offseason and we haven't had turkey yet.

The Cardinals have traded 30 year old Josh Rogers to the Angels for a pair of prospects.

              Cardinals Get:

RHP - Jordan Humphreys (25 years old)
              2B - Josh Hayek (19 years old)

              Angels Get:

              LHP Josh Rogers

The Cardinals signed Josh Rogers to a 4 year deal worth $32M last offseason as they wanted a left handed starter in their rotation. Things started well for Rogers and the Cardinals but around July and in the 2nd half of the season, the wheels came off. Rogers would be on the postseason roster due to Michael Wacha's injury, but pitched sparingly the deeper the Cards got into their World Series run. In fact, Rogers pitched just one inning in the World Series, where the Cardinals played 7 games.

Rogers will head to an Angels organization that is working on rebuilding and have had the help of the Cardinals in doing so as last year the Cards sent 1B Luken Baker and OF Dylan Carlson to the Halos for Yoan Moncada, who the Cards just traded to the Yankees. Safe to say the Halos got the better of that deal.

In return the Cardinals are getting decent prospects but nothing of the caliber they got in the Yankees/Moncada deal. The Cardinals will get Jordan Humphreys who pitched with the Mets at the big league level before being outrighted and claimed by the Angels this past offseason. Humphreys will again be part of the Cardinals attempt to rebuild their pitching staff.

Josh Hayek is a 19 year old second base prospect who played last year at Single A for the Angels organization. Hayek has potential with the bat, but his glove work needs to be better if he wants to advance through the ranks. Expect him to be at Palm Beach (Single A) for the Cards this season.

Re: MLB The Show 20 Franchise Discussion Thread

2021 has not been kind to the New York Mets. After 3 straight seasons of 100-plus victories and a World Series title in 2019 (lost in NLDS in 2018 and 2020), the Mets overhauled the roster and changed most of the coaching staff. The new-look team hasn't meshed as well as hoped early on and the team is sitting at 11-13.

It's been a weird first month of the season. When the bats are hot, the pitching goes cold and gives up a ton of runs, like yesterday's 9-8 11-inning loss to the Royals where the Mets blew a 7-5 9th inning and 8-7 10th leads. When the pitching has reverted back to its dominant self, the bats go ice cold. New York has already been shut out 3 times this season, a rare feat to say the least in the first three seasons.

Hopefully this is just an early season slide and we'll turn things around. Still, I'm eyeing the trade market and seeing if a move or two need to be made to jump start that turnaround.

the only way to currently do that is to edit an already existing player into a new player

When did you start your franchise? What roster did you use? If you used the very first official SDS roster back when the game launched then that explains it. They are both in the game now, and Lux was added a long time ago though if I remember right he wasn’t there originally.

Once you start a franchise any players that get added to the game in later roster updates won’t be in that franchise.

Yeah I did. Does that mean that I gotta restart my franchise?
