I'm not going to condemn anyone for feeling that style over substance is better, but I'm not gonna subscribe to that line of thought myselfLast edited by Caulfield; 03-10-2023, 04:01 PM.OSFM23 - Building Better Baseball - OSFM23

Curious what people think about graphics and the exterior stadium shots, compared to MLB 2K7:

Re: MLB The Show 23 Franchise, MTO, Presentation and Commentary Feature Premiere Brea
For me getting the new schedule is huge to keep me from getting bored, I want to run a career with my favorite team and have gotten to tired of playing the same divisional teams half the schedule.
I played strictly RTTS 08 to 20, then moved mostly to franchise with player lock in 21/22 and one thing I know this year is I won't fire up RTTS at all, its straight into franchise mode.
When I saw how long this live stream was my fear was they would do something I hate like they did with RTTS in 2017 with Archetype and in 2021 tying it to DD. They didn't so I'm confident I'll have a blast with franchise this year. I am encouraged by the drafting changes and I have hope the trading logic is actually improved, but that's a trust but verify at this point.
The graphics are quite dated, my hope this is a primary focus in 24 with current gen only being supported.
All that being said March 24th can't come soon enough, I haven't played since July and with the schedule changes haven't looked forward to a new version of The Show as much as this one in years.Comment

The stadiums itself are on a whole other level in the Show compared to this but those exterior shots in 2k7 aren’t that bad…or the ones in The Show are just super underwhelming compared to the actual stadiums."When it's all set and done, reality is the best innovation."Comment

I was having a hard time finding the specifics of the new schedule you guys are talking about, what is happening with it exactly?Comment

You play less games now in MLB against your division and every team plays everyone atleast once this season.Mets Baseball, All Day Every Day

When you look at this
It just looks dead, as if this angle is from 5 hours before game time. Compare it to any of the 2k shots and it's not a comparison in terms of fans on the screen. The comparison gets worse when you start looking at the detail between the two and you see they are more similar than not, but we can at least maybe say the stream's quality makes it harder to see some of the detail in The Show's shots. Either way, it's a nice step forward, but not really executed well from what we've seen.
EDIT: I was able to upload a snip from the video. It's not even a fair comparison between the two, really.Attached Files“No one is more hated than he who speaks the truth.”

I agree I think it just always boils down to that old saying. You will NEVER make everyone happy at anything in life. Never happens. If a QB throws 52 tds in a season and 0 picks but in the super bowl misses a pass on the last throw to win the game people will say he had a bad season. no such thing as making everyone happy.
I feel like people want OOTP in MLB the show . OOTP has like every feature in baseball you can ask for . Nothing is missing. BUT OOTP is never going to pay the money it would take to use player likeness on the graphics so the graphics will never match MLB the show graphics.
Does the show put way to much time in DD and such . Ofcourse they do but that is not their fault its the consumer. Its us. People spend money on things for DD and streamers stream about it so it makes money. So they are going to do it.
I am sure the makers of the game work hard, they care, and try the best they can with the time and resources they have to work with
The presentation stuff in yesterday's video IS really cool. But that shine only lasts for so long. Graphics, eh. Same thing, doesn't matter a bunch to me.
I bought a ps5 just for 2k23, and I have different franchises I float between (different eras, a custom fictional league). I'll kick up a franchise and sim 10 years for an afternoon if i don't feel like playing. Until MLB provides something like that, I'll just stick with my A's franchise on '20.
By the way, I wouldn't expect MLB to ever do something to the Eras feature in 2k. Rosters are too big. That'd be absurd. The other stuff all seems rather feasible though.Comment

I skipped 22 which was the 1st time in 10+ year I didn’t buy MLBTS. I saw no good reason to upgrade from 21’
After yesterday’s stream, I’m excited to get back into it. Draft is a huge component and presentation looks promising.
Just bought a brand new LG C2 OLED tv…let’s see how it looks compared to my 2016 1080p Vizio!
I skipped 22, but I'm leaning toward getting 23. I'll probably still wait for a sale, but the new draft, new schedule and new rules have me thinking it may be time to move on from 21. And if 23 doesn't scratch the itch, I can always go back to 21.Last edited by LowerWolf; 03-10-2023, 04:58 PM.Comment

Now every team plays their 4 divisional opponents 13 times apiece and will play a 3 game series against every opposite league team every season so you will see an opposite league team at your home stadium every 2 years.Comment

Never played 2k7 so I gave these a watch.
1. The exterior shots are very nice
2. Interior concourse shots add atmosphere but are generic, not stadium specific
3. Commentary is bad

Re: MLB The Show 23 Franchise, MTO, Presentation and Commentary Feature Premiere Brea
I’m appreciative to the additions they showed that is apart of the new game. I really don’t want to complain about the additions because this is better than what we’ve seen, plus it seems like a lot of other people have done enough complaining to make up for me. I think my one gripe about the stream was how they hardly show anything in game of what we’re getting. Example, new trade logic, CBA rules, etc; at least give us an image or in menu gameplay of seeing the playoff format, or give an example of the “new” trade logic. The streams over the last couple years has been glorified power points and I guess it’s a little irritating. I get it that they don’t want to give too much away but give us something more.
Lastly, is it everything I think Franchise has been missing? No… BUT it’s a big part of franchise that was severely lacking. It’s a step in the right direction, but definitely excited for the game now.ATLANTA BRAVES

Yeah that would have been nice if they would have shown an example of a trade with their new logic.Follow me on Twitch
