The old NHL 2K games used to have this feature. You could add a beard to any player, and even the feature where during the playoffs, the beard would grow to the length you set it at. This was probably NHL 2K9? PS3 days.

Edit : Pretty sure the EA NHL games also have this feature. I haven't played one in a couple of years, but if I recall, you could edit player facial hair in that game as well.

they really tried to say correcting the minor league affiliations was a feature. Adding in the playoffs to be correct like real life is a BIG TASK and passed off as a feature.

We don't know how big or little of a task it is to put these kinds of things into the game. We don't work for them. These kinds of comments make no sense to me

None of what you said is relevant. Putting bare minimum things into a game years late like Ohtani being able to be used and then we are supposed to be pleased when thats all the new features we get?

let me guess that "brand new" scouting is awesome right? its the same thing thats been in the game for ages with a new menu and they put card reveals into the draft and called it a new presentation for the draft.

We were also told I think for 3 straight years that the Ohtani rule was fixed. And it still was never implemented properly.

2ks system is still different. They dont let you give Steph Curry a lumberjack beard with a bald head. They just update hairstyles/tattoos monthly and they catalog the previous hairstyles a specific player had to use.

But i guess the point is just those hairstyles or facial hair are not like overlayed on top of the scan in the player editor. Its like something the art team does.

What? Prior to 2021, Ohtani never pitched and hit in the same game irl. And he didn't start doing it regular until June 2021.

The "Ohtani Rule" (allowing Ohtani to serve as a DH on days he pitched) as it's called didn't exist until 10 days before Early Access in 2022, and that rule kinda came out of nowhere. Obviously too late to get that into 22. They talked about it last year, but even if they had implemented it "properly" in 22, it would have been outdated on launch anyway.

Sorry, the Ohtani rule was not the proper term.

Ohtani was not usable in franchise as he is in real life. His stamina would be destroyed, then he would hit, and when he pitched again his stamina would not be full, therefore in a sim, his ERA's were always high 4's and low 5's because they never could implement Ohtani in properly.

For a few Show's SDS said that THIS was fixed. And it wasn't.

But it doesn't really matter how big of a task it was. It had to be in. Just like when the NFL went to an 18-week schedule, Madden *had* to incorporate it. No matter how big or small the task was.

There was always a problem with Ohtani each year in the game..

First year you had to burn a bench spot just to have him come in to a game for a starting lineup. the trick was to send to AAA and send back up trick manually.

he used to count as a pitcher so the angels would have to have a 25 man roster not 26 man.. they fixed that issue last year not counting him as a pitcher. you had to keep sending a player down and back up again

the year before it was actually being able to have him in the lineup screen.

last year Ohtani had to be number 3 in the rotation to have him in the lineup.

it took them really 5 years and each year to get something new right with Ohtani.

But still you can't have 6 man rotations so that might be next years fix for whoever Ohtanis team he goes to in free agency. and we don't know still yet if you have to have him at slot 3 in rotation to be able to be in the lineup.

this is a major problem with the angels as you gotta move the rotation around to have a 6 man rotation in the game. simply keeping Ohtani in slot 3 doesn't work.

So the problem with the Angels is manually having to control their rotation because you can't start 6 man rotations

I'm not sure I get the point of the argument. "Feature" or not these things are new to this years game, and I know there are a ton of folks who were disappointed that these things weren't in last years game. If they wouldn't have mentioned the CBA changes in this premiere, people would have been pissed assuming that they didn't update the rules. Would you rather they just ignored the current rules and added a ton of bells and whistles to the mode?

If you want to set their lineup before the season starts, you have to put him in the #2 - #5 spots. I just made a quick franchise and played the first game with him pitching. After the first game, I was able to see him in the lineup screen. So you just can’t fix the lineup with him if he’s next in line to pitch. Hopefully this year he will be in the lineup by default.

As a Marketing standpoint you have to talk about anything 'new' to sell the game to people, I have no issue with that.

They were not going to upgrade the new playoffs mid last year... it had to be added to this years game to help sell it more as a new thing added, it makes perfect sense to do that.. yeah they could have added in the new playoffs mid season or even in as late as September, but they needed that in for this year and better to use the resources for this years game.

This time last year we were thankful there would even be a season then worry about the new CBA rules being in the game.

As long as he wasn't the scheduled pitcher for that day's game he would show up in the lineup screen. There was some glitch in 21 where I had him as the DH, but after I switched his spot in the rotation, the pitcher I replaced him with would be set as the DH. (I believe it was Alex Cobb and he even hit a homerun in one of the games I simulated before I realized it)

ahh for me it was always 3 that is strange. by default the game likes him in the 1 spot so putting him in the line-up is hard.

I wish there was a better way to manage a 6 man rotation for the Angels and other teams.. the only way really is to keep moving the rotation down a slot. but when the CPU loves using LR it makes it harder to sit your 6th man there too in risk of them using them. it is tricky
