CLEVELAND GUARDIANS 2024 UPDATE:

Heading in to the stretch run here. September 1st is here and its a dogfight for the division. With 5 games coming up against the Twins, now is the time to make a move.

Finally Started up a Franchise with the DBacks today, I had already played spring straining to figure out who made the team with the default rosters when the game came out was just waiting for a roster to use. so here is my team to start the 2023 season

When I put a player up for a trade and have the CPU suggest trades from other teams.. Is there a way to easily cycle through the suggested player's stats? I'm starting to want to bring prospects into my franchise but man.. I can't seem to find an easy way to look these players up without exiting out of the trade, finding them in the other team's rosters, and then cycling back into the trade.. super cumbersome if this is the only way

Any answer to this? Seems like a huge UX flaw if not

Chicago White Sox Franchise: 2023 ALCS Game Three vs the Los Angeles Angels

Series Tied: 1-1

A crucial matchup with the winner taking good control of the series for a chance at the World Series featured Michael Kopech and Tyler Anderson on the mound for the White Sox and the Angels, respectively. Kopech has been solid, throwing six innings in both of his postseason starts, allowing three runs each time. Anderson was dealing coming in, posting a 1.80 ERA in his first 20 innings of the postseason. Both teams had plenty of reason to believe that their starter would be able to provide a quality start.

It was Kopech who would run into the first bit of trouble in the second inning, as he dealt with an increasingly pesky Hunter Renfroe for 11 pitches before finally missing his mark slightly on an inside fastball, of which Renfroe would put into the seats and giving the Angels a 1-0 lead.

Thankfully for Chicago, the offense would tie things up in short order, as an opposite field double from Oscar Colas would lead to him being driven in with a perfectly placed single from Yasmani Grandal to tie the game up.

Kopech would find solid footing in the third, battling in every at bat but striking out the side to put his offense back at the plate. After Tim Anderson and Andrew Benintendi would ground out, Eloy Jimenez would take a turn in the batter’s box. Entering the plate appearance, Jimenez was 1-10 on the series with a strikeout earlier in the game, but the one hit was a homer. Jimenez would make good on his prodigious power again, as the AL home run champ would fight to a full count before Anderson’s mistake was deposited into the bleachers to give Chicago a 2-1 lead, Jimenez’s fifth homer of the postseason.

Trouble would seemingly find Kopech again in the top of the fourth, now pitching with his first lead of the day. Taylor Ward would lead the inning off with a single before Mike Trout walked on five pitches to set up Shohei Ohtani and two on and nobody out. Kopech would dive deep and gut out his second strikeout of Ohtani for the game, making it five total in Ohtani’s last six at bats. Up would step Renfroe, who would again force one of the biggest at bats of the game. It would take an astounding 13 pitches, but Kopech would again get a strikeout looking. Kopech would then see Jared Walsh and strike him out of four pitches, getting out of the jam with a second straight inning of striking out the side to get us through the top of the fourth. Kopech would finish his day with five innings, one run allowed, scattering five hits and a walk, while striking out eight batters.

Things would simmer for a bit, as the White Sox stepped up to the plate in the fifth inning, where Yoan Moncada would get the inning off with a bang as he drove a double into right center. Game two breakout Tim Anderson would step to the plate and extend the White Sox lead to 4-1 on the first pitch, cranking his second homer in as many games. Luis Robert would reach base a few batters later on a fielder’s choice and would steal second with two outs. Colas would show his advanced composure yet again, as the rookie would drive an outside pitch that would prove to Tyler Anderson’s last to left field and scoring Robert with ease, creating a now 5-1 cushion.

Garrett Crochet would step on the mound in the sixth to face Trout, Ohtani, and Renfroe. While he managed to get Trout to strike out looking, Ohtani would finally put the ball in play, laying off some tough pitches before Crochet finally left a fastball over the plate. Ohtani would absolutely crush the baseball, sending it 440 feet. Crochet would then set down Renfroe and Walsh with the White Sox still up three.

Robert would make his mark on the scoring column again in the bottom of the seventh, crushing his third home run of the postseason off of Griffin Canning to make the score 6-2.

Yency Almonte would step on the mound in the eighth and immediately find himself in a bad position, hitting David Fletcher before Ward would reach base on an error by Gavin Sheets. This would put up the trio of Trout, Ohtani, and Renfroe with a chance to get the Angels back in the game. Unfortunately for Los Angeles fans, the team’s struggles in big moments would crater their chances once again, as Trout and Ohtani would strike out in quick fashion before Renfroe would ground out softly to first base. Almonte and the White Sox had yet again averted disaster.

Moncada and Anderson (second of the day) would go back-to-back in the bottom of the eighth, putting the game on ice with a final score of 8-3 after Aaron Bummer allowed a double and a single in the top of the ninth.

As we head into a now seemingly do or die game four for the Angels, questions arise as to how they get back in the series. They were riding high after an explosive offense in game one, but the bats have died since then, especially with runners in scoring position. They left eight men on base in this one after simply not hitting at all in game two. Trout has been really good in the series, with five hits, including a double and two homers, but he came up empty in a critical spot today. Ohtani has been a massive detriment to the team so far, even despite hitting two homers. Ohtani is otherwise 0-10, striking out eight times.

The White Sox offense is riding high as of now too, and the Angels are going into game four knowing that Ohtani is going to need a massive performance on the mound to get them back into it. Only time will tell if the Angels can change their fortunes, and the White Sox are hoping to take full command at home.

White Sox win 8-3, take the series lead 2-1.

The Tigers (114-23) have clinched the best record in the American League.

The Blue Jays (87-50) lead the East by 12 games.

The Astros (73-65), Angels (72-65) and Rangers (71-65) are all within a game of first place in the West, and are tied in the loss column.

The Twins (82-55), Rays (75-62) and Yankees (74-63) hold the three Wild Card spots. The Angels and Rangers are still within reach.

In the National League, the Braves (90-47) lead the East by 13 games.

The Pirates (80-57) lead the Central by 1.5 games over the Brewers, and 4 over the Cardinals

The Dodgers lead the West by 9 games over the Padres.

2024 Washington Nationals

Philadelphia Phillies at Washington Nationals

The Phillies roster looks almost identical to their 2023 squad, the only differences are the loss of Amed Rosario, making Bryson Stott the starting shortstop; and the addition of Ryan Pressly as a reliever in the ‘pen. They also picked up Matt Beaty, who is beginning the season as the everyday DH.

The Opening Day predictions have the Braves winning the NL East, and the Mets and Marlins taking the two Wild Card spots, meaning these two teams would be fighting for fourth place in the division. It will be interesting to see how that shapes out during the season. The NL East is very strong this year, and while the Braves have to be favorites to win the division, any of the other four teams should be able to fight for the Wild Card spots.

Game One: Zach Wheeler vs Stephen Strasburg
Bryce Harper wasted no time getting his season off to a good start, hitting a two run homer in the first inning; not exactly what the Opening Day crowd wanted to see. Alec Bohm doubled to score Matt Vierling in the third, but Washington fought back in the fifth. Brandon Drury led off with a walk, Gleyber Torres singled to left, and Keibert Ruiz hit a ground ball that bounced up and off of Bryson Stott before rolling into left and underneath the arm of Vierling, allowing Drury and Torres to score. Zach Davies would be called upon to start the sixth, and after getting two outs, he would give up three consecutive base hits to JT Realmuto, Matt Beaty and Brandon Marsh to make it a 4-2 game. Hunter Harvey would get an early season appearance, but he would give up singles to Realmuto and Beaty and then a double to Marsh to make it a 5-2 game. That’s how this game ended, as Zack Wheeler was dominant through seven and the bullpen didn’t allow the Nationals to mount any rallies. Anthony Rizzo did record his first hit as a National when he led off in the ninth but was quickly erased when Mitch Haniger hit into a double play.

Game Two: Ranger Suarez vs MacKenzie Gore
Jean Segura started things off with a lead off home run in the first pitch of the game, but Anthony Rizzo came through in the bottom half with a two out base hit that allowed Brady House to score. Washington took the lead in the fourth after Anthony Rizzo led off with a walk, Gleyber Torres andMitch Haniger singled and Victor Robles grounded into a double play. Keibert Ruiz then singled to make it a 3-1 game. After giving up the leadoff home run, MacKenzie Gore went 3.2 perfect innings, but Philadelphia came back in the fifth, scoring six runs on six hits, the big blow being a three run home run from Bryce Harper. The Nationals tied the game in the bottom of the fifth, as they mounted a two out rally. Brandon Drury, Anthony Rizzo and Gleyber Torres all singled to bring in one run, and Mitch Haniger hit a three run home run to tie the game at 7 and chase Ranger Suarez from the game. The Phillies would bring in Kyle Cody, who would make his first major league appearance since 2021, and he would become the pitcher of record as the Phillies took the lead on a Jean Segura single in the sixth and added a run in Bryce Harper’s solo home run in the ninth. Philadelphia wins, 9-7.

Game Three: Martin Perez vs Lucas Giolito
The Nationals scored first when Anthony Rizzo hit his first home run of the year in the second inning. Gleyber Torres hit his first home run in the fifth, also a solo shot. Torres would have to leave the game in the sixth after tweaking his knee on a ground ball, but it appears that he did not suffer any serious injury*. Lucas Giolito would go 7 shutout innings, giving up three hits, walking one and striking out six. Aaron Bummer would pitch the eighth and give up a run on a sac fly by Matt Vierling, but that would be all. Trevor Rosenthal came in for the ninth and got two quick outs before giving up a game tying home run to, who else, Bryce Harper. The lead did not last long, as Kyle Cody would come in for a third inning of relief (remember, he also pitched yesterday) and give up a first pitch, walk off home run to Andrew Vaughn to give Washington win no. 1 on the season!

*Gleyber Torres has a sprained knee and will miss a game or two.

Game Four: Noah Syndergaard vs Josiah Gray

The Nationals scored a run in the second following hard hit base hits from Brandon Drury, Brandon Nimmo and Lane Thomas. Keibert Ruiz hit another hard hit ball but it was easily turned into a double play, killing the threat. Noah Syndergaard would have to leave after taking a ball to the foot, and while it doesn’t seem to be too serious, he was unable to continue. Andrew Bellatti would be called upon, and he would get Andrew Vaughn to hit into a double play before giving up back to back home runs to Anthony Rizzo and Mitch Haniger. Jean Segura would tie the game with a three run homer in the fifth. Just like the night before, the wind was blowing out to left center and the ball was just flying out of Nationals Park. Josiah Gray would strike out Alec Bohm and retire Bryce Harper with a groundout before walking Rhys Hoskins, and that would be the end of his day. Zach Davies would be called in for long relief, and he would get the final out of the fifth. Kyle Cody came out for the Phillies for the third straight game (I forgot to edit all the teams bullpens to prevent them from overusing the long man) and Rizzo and Haniger would again go back to back, this time. This time Rizzo had a two run shot as Andrew Vaughn had singled in the at bat before him. That was the end for Cody and the Phillies brought out their third bullpen arm, Connor Brogdon. He would give up two more runs when Keibert Ruiz doubled to drive in Brandon Nimmo and Lane Thomas. The Phillies rallied in the sixth, scoring three runs off of Zach Davies; who gave up two solo home runs and a triple in just five batters faced. Brandon Marsh would tie the game with a two out, two run double off of Sean Doolittle in the seventh. The Nationals had a chance to take the lead in the eighth but could not capitalize, and Aaron Bummer would give up a two run home run to JT Realmuto in the ninth, making it a 10-8 game; Seranthony Dominguez would get the save, striking out two. A tough loss for the Nationals, and it marks the second game in a row where the top bullpen arms coughed up the lead in the ninth. Something to look at moving forward, perhaps.

The Nationals played well, but only managed to take one of four from the Phillies.They have a much easier series coming up as the Oakland Athletics come to town for three games.

Opening Day in Los Angeles

Zac Gallen Vs Clayton Kershaw

The rain started in the 2nd inning but both pitchers were dealing from the start.The Dbacks took a 2-0 lead in the 3rd inning from RBI singles from Corbin Carroll and Christian Walker.

Ketel Marte added a Solo HR in the 5th which chased Kershaw from the game.

Zac Gallen had a perfect game going still in the 5th.

Ketel Marte knocked in two more runs in the top of the 8th to make it 5 nothing and Gallen still had the Perfect Game going in the bottom of the 8th with one out when Trayce Thompson broke it up with a bloop hit into right field and at that time the Umps called a rain delay for 90 minutes.

After the rain delay the Dbacks brought Scott McGough into the game and he gave up a hit to put two men on base amd then J.D. Martinez grounded into an inning ending double play.

The 9th inning start off rough for McGough he gave up a few hit and one run then Freddie Freeman came up with 2 on and blasted a 3 run Homerun to make it 5-4.

The Dbacks brought in Garrett Crochet and he finished out the game for his first save of the season

Ketel Marte was the star hitter of the game going 2-5 with 3 RBI's and a Hr
Corbin Carroll stole 2 bases and Jake McCarthy stole 1.

Gallen pitched 7.1 solid innings with 11 K's and 1 hit and prob would have finished out the game if not for the rain delay.

McGough was roughed up in his inning giving up 5 hits and 4 runs.

Game two against Los Angeles with be on March 31st With Merrill Kelly going against Julio Urias

I’m having a weird issue and I wonder if you guys could help me. I keep having a franchise issue where roster control is set to manual but the computer takes over and signs free agents and moves players from AAA to the MLB etc. It is very frustrating. I started my franchise over to make sure I had the settings right and it did it again. I went to mode specific and everything was set to manual. Any idea how to stop this from happening and gain full control of the rosters?

That happened to me too. In addition to that, I lost a few players during Free Agency that I thought I had locked up...I think I forgot to renew their contracts but I swear Anderson Tejeda had a contract for 2024. Either way, I lost a few guys that I wanted to keep... Drew Mendoza..we miss you, but congrats on making it to the Opening Day roster and hitting your first home run...with the Yankees...gross.

I’m down to the final ten games of the season and I have a two game lead on the Phillies and four on the Braves. 7 of my 10 remaining games are against the Phillies and the Braves have 7 of 10 against the Nationals so they have a chance to make up some ground if the Mets and Phillies beat up on each other. This new scheduling feels so weird when you play a division rival in the first two weeks of the season and then don’t see them again until the last two weeks of the season

Pirates enter final month of regular season atop NL Central

The Pirates have been on top of the NL Central for the majority of the 2023 season and that is still the case heading into the last (full) month of the season. The 4.5 game lead isnt safe by any means but if they repeat their August peformance (15-14) they should be able to keep it. Keeping the top spot in the division will be key though as it does not appear that the division will have a wildcard team.

The Pirates top prospect, Termarr Johnson and Quinn Priester will be receiving the September call ups.

Andrew McCutchen is very close to returning from his broken forearm and should be back during the month. The rest of the injured players (Ke'Bryan Hayes,Endy Rodriguez and Oniel Cruz) will not return.

The Pirates start September with a three game set in St. Louis to face off against the Cardinals (60-74/5th NL Central).

I had a similar scenario with the Guardians, in a tight division race with Minnesota, and didn't play them at all until September, and it was 6 games against them in a 2 week span.

Took over the division after winning 5 out of the 6 games, though....
