I think women should play using baseballs. Softballs are like an insult. They're big and aren't they bright green?

I'm sure women can hit a baseball and not only that, but a baseball is smaller, so they could grip that easier and throw some nasty pitches.

Also, that could bridge into them getting into a baseball league. Will they hit a lotta bombs? Maybe some of 'em, but hell, a lotta great hitters were slap hitters and just got on base, so.. those are just some of my thoughts.

Television ratings for the 2023 WNBA Finals reached a 20-year high-water mark last summer and also grew 36% year-over-year. Additionally, WNBA revenue has doubled over the past five years, and the league's next television rights contract is expected to push that number up further. In-person attendance of WNBA games has also increased dramatically over that time span.

Yes, the NBA has financially buoyed the WNBA for years, but their forward thinking in doing so and their patience allowing the league to gain a foothold is about to pay off. Women's sports are more popular now than ever before, and that's not going to change anytime soon.

Also there's a literally a college athlete playing basketball right now who is arguably the biggest news in all of the sport (at least in the US) -- she is a woman.

But anyway, again, this is probably silly and doesn't need to go further since we're getting into this weird middle ground and I've banned enough peeps in the past 24 hours and don't want more to catch strays.

(Also, please, for the love of all that is holy, no more talk about biology)

And Unfortunately there's still people willing to give you a 3 hour lecture on why her scoring record isn't the REAL scoring record. It's just the world we live in.

Really??? Out of my entire post that’s what you decided to pull from the entire text?

I was using that phrase as an example of just because you included me into something, doesn’t mean I am going to be interested. Come on now Country Boy. We’ve interacted on here a few times, and although we don’t always agree, we have never had a cross word. To simplify an entire post as me stating a phrase against the inclusion of women in a video game is a bit disingenuous don’t you think?

I knew my opinion was going to be unpopular, as everyone likes to jump on the inclusion train because it makes them feel good about themselves. I already stated I am not against women being in the game. I just feel like the allocation of resources and time are misplaced considering this games fan base. I have a daughter and a wife. I don’t feel their exclusion from a baseball video game is going all of sudden send us back to pre-suffragette era rights

Yeah…. Really. I usually keep my posts unpolitical and stick straight to the discussion of games. You can check my post history. I always keep it constructive and try my best to give reasons why I don’t like certain things without just saying “this game is garbage”. I think this is an absolutely foolish waste of time and resources considering this game has needed lots of work in other areas for a long time. I can tell I’m in the minority here, and that is okay. So I am just going to see my way out of this conversation as I really don’t see it going anywhere positive

Attendance is actually down. They had more people attending games in 1998 than they do now. Each team averaged almost 10k in attendance. Four teams this year are under 5k in fans per game.

2014 had EVERY team over the 5k attendance mark.

Now the average is a little over 6.5k per game. So I am not sure where these attendance numbers you are getting come from.

Even if you go back to 2015-16 they averaged about 1k more fans per game.

Almost all the revenue coming in is from sponsorships.

I’m sorry you felt it was unnecessary. I felt it was completely warranted considering how people were viewing my very broad statement through a very narrow lens. Either way, it’s all good. No hard feelings. Have a wonderful day

Yeah, 30 years is pretty patient. If any other business venture took 30 years to show a profit most investors would’ve bailed. I’ve never heard anyone call a restaurant that hasn’t turned a profit in 30 years a success. But anyway, I’ve caused this thread to go so far off track. For that I do apologize, so I am just going to stop now

Yes that is what stood out to me from your entire post due to the absolute shock of you not only stating it, but your attempt to use it as validation for your opinion.

You could’ve simply stated your concern of dedication of resources to other modes than those you feel need the most attention, without the odd spectacle of informing everyone just how manly you are.

You are still taking it way out of context. The dude said he hunted, shot guns, and liked sports and because of that was as "Manly man" as the definition goes. I never even thought twice about it before a few of you jumped on his back over it.

I have seen FAR worse discourse about this topic than that. Yikes, not everybody is perfect but I thought he made his points well compared to others on here.
