You are still taking it way out of context. The dude said he hunted, shot guns, and liked sports and because of that was as "Manly man" as the definition goes. I never even thought twice about it before a few of you jumped on his back over it.
I have seen FAR worse discourse about this topic than that. Yikes, not everybody is perfect but I thought he made his points well compared to others on here.
I’m not taking anything out of context.
I didn’t disagree with his concern because his concerns and mine share similar sentiments in that I am hoping areas/modes I play got significant improvements.

When the game comes out we can settle this the videogame way lol...9 created women players vs 9 created men players. May the best um...human win lol.
That would actually be fun, but I doubt SCEA thought this through carefully enough to make the implementation well, actually fun.
If it's fun then people will play with mascots, aliens, big heads or whatever. Hopefully it feels fun and not forced. But if it's all about a marketing gimmick then that's a shame.Unofficial OS Ambassador of "CPU vs. CPU"

Re: Players Can Create and Play as a Female Ballplayer in MLB The Show 24 Road to the
I wasn’t calling myself a “man’s man”. I was pointing out that due to the activities I enjoy that is a “phrase” that some have referred to me as. I was trying to illustrate a “category” that many would say I fall under to prove a point that inclusion doesn’t necessarily draw interest. Taking things out of context is one thing, but taking one line out of an entire statement and trying to paint it like I am over “Rick Rooding” everyone, gyrating my hips, and saying “this is what a real man looks like” is another. But hey, if making fun of me on the forum gave you some entertainment for the day then have at it. I am a big boy.
I really am done now.Comment

As I mentioned from my first post, it was only a matter of time before it got to where this thread is even with the deleting and banning of people. I'm surprised this is not closed although I guess there does need a place to discuss this.est 1978

Re: Players Can Create and Play as a Female Ballplayer in MLB The Show 24 Road to the
I mentioned I have zero issues with female referees in Madden several pages ago because I know there are female line judges in the NFL... And you answered my point... There are NO MLB female umpires... ZERO!!! But I don't want to it get crazy like EA NHL where I see a female umpire every other game or multiple games in a row... Just takes away from the simulation realism...Last edited by gsize19; 03-07-2024, 06:10 PM.If you keep bowing down and praising the developers, (NHL series) nothing they give us the consumer will ever be a "finished" product. Take a stand, it is your money!!!.Comment

On a more positive note, if SDS was so committed to getting female players in the game, they could've added a whole new storylines mode dedicated to "A League of their Own"
Imagine the outcry. All of the time and resources they'd need to reallocate to recreate that universe. We heard how much of a task it was for the Negro leagues, I'm glad they didn't do the same for that and just left it as Female RTTS buildsComment

You know who's a man? Charlie here, he's a man. You know who else is a man? Me, I'm a man.
If anyone signed free agent Aslanta Chen in 23, they probably didn't realize, she isn't a man, he's a woman. Ridin did a terrible job on capturing a realistic look tho, she looked awfully manly, but I managed to massage the editor enough, made the dude look like a lady. So we've been able to have women in the game before already. We didn't get outrage then, don't need it now.T-BONE.

Originally posted by HeadCoach2.0Next they will add a Little League mode.
Your toddler will be able to play RTTS and begin it's fictional journey to the majors.
I think those saying that it's all fantasy anyway, so get over it, are kinda missing the point. It reminds me, in a way, of the 1983 movie "Yor, the Hunter From the Future," which starts out looking like a Conan the Barbarian clone, before turning into a poor man's Star Wars in the final act. And no, it wasn't intended as a parody.
Again, this was 1983 we're talking about. The movie hit theaters less than four months after Cubs bench boss Lee Elia's infamous tirade, for perspective.
Point is, some combinations are just so farfetched, that a general audience will be less willing to suspend its disbelief. I like sriracha sauce, and I like tiramisu, but that doesn't mean I like sriracha sauce ON my tiramisu.
Fundamentally, the deliverable is emotion. So I think the best way to sort this out, is to evaluate, what emotions are they trying to evoke here? What's the intended "hook," or "in," between the character and the player?
And I think the quiet concern here, fairly or not, is that the "storylines" could turn out to be a bunch of warmed-over, fish-needs-a-bicycle misandry.
I hope that isn't the case; but there's been too much of that, in too much of the entertainment industry of late. That's why I think this may end up being a novel idea, put forth at exactly the wrong time.Comment

Re: Players Can Create and Play as a Female Ballplayer in MLB The Show 24 Road to the
Then don't play. A woman playing in the majors is no more ridiculous than a guy in his 40s smashing away at a computer complaining about this making the majors.
If a woman wants to live out her fantasy of playing in the majors, then this is absolutely fantastic. And if it upsets a dude crying about "muh realism" in an outright fantasy mode, well that's just a bonus.
If people want to talk about resources that went to this going to something else, that's one thing. But if you don't think it's realistic, then just don't make a female character. Stop gatekeeping the fantasy of playing in the majors.
