Game 2 saw another Ranger comeback as Soto once again put the Rangers up 5-4 with a 3 run HR in the bottom of the 7th. The Ranger Bullpen however gave the lead up in the top of the 8th as they imploded by giving up 6 runs. Rangers lost 10-5.

Series tied 1-1 as we head off to New York. Brock Porter will take the mound

NLCS has the Diamond Backs up 2-1 on the Braves
The Texas Rangers have won Game 3 by the score of 7 to 5. They are up 2 games to 1. Porter was in constant trouble as be battled through 4 and 2 thirds. Clutch hitting by Josh Jung and Chisholm put us over the top. Game 4 has Mahle on the mound. In the NLCS the DBacks are up 3 to 1. Could it be a repeat of the only World Series win in Rangers history?

The Rangers are now up 3 to 1 as they win game 4 7 to 5. 1 game from a World Series appearance. Mahle struggled giving up 3 runs in the 1st inning but settled in to give us 5 innings. The ball game was tied in the top of the 7th when the Yankees intentionally walked Guerrero to put runners on 1st and 2nd with 2 outs. Luis Campusano stepped up and doubled in 2 runs. Bickford came on in the 9th to close it out.

Suzuki's three homer performance highlights Cubs perfect homestand

The Cubs swept both the St. Louis Cardinals and Minnesota Twins to finish their most recent homestand 7-0.

First, Chicago swept their divisional foes, the St. Louis Cardinals in their final series of 2024 in four games. Next, the Cubs set their sights on the team with the best record in the MLB, the Minnesota Twins.

The first two games were close as both resulted in one runs wins for Chicago as they won game one 7-6 and game two 2-1. The second game was won in extra innings after Justin Steele completed a very rare 10 inning start that eventually ended on an Ian Happ walk off sacrifice bunt.

Game three was Seiya Suzuki's day as he homered in all of his first three at bats. Those swings resulted in seven RBI's with Cody Bellinger getting the 8th as Chicago cruised to the 8-0 victory to secure the team's second consecutive sweep.

The Cubs will now head across town to face off with their in-city rivals, the Chicago White Sox (37-80/5th AL Central).

Cardinals sweep the Mets to start the 2026 season

Cardinals got the 2026 season off to a great start with a 3 game sweep over the Mets in St.Louis.

The Cardinals won on Opening Day in dramatic fashion as rookie outfielder Zach Levenson, who came on as a pinch runner earlier, got a walkoff single to record his first major league hit of his career. Although there was jubilation, the was also concern as Ryan Helsley blew his first save opportunity of the 2026 season giving up 2 runs in the 9th as the Mets tied the game. Jordan Hicks ended the threat and then Levenson did his thing.

                <iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/mOkPrFFGV5o?si=RGNVIVzk2wabYB2i" title="YouTube video player" frameborder="0" allow="accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share" referrerpolicy="strict-origin-when-cross-origin" allowfullscreen></iframe>

Saturday was another win for the Cardinals as they beat the Mets 5-4 and once again Ryan Helsley got into trouble in the 9th. Up 5-2 Helsley gave up two runs and recorded an out and was pulled with the tying run on second. Newly acquired LHP Will Smith came on to strikeout Jeff McNeil and Brandon Nimmo to record the save and preserve the win.

Sunday was less dramatic as the Cardinals blew out the Mets 8-2. Nolan Gorman had a big day recording 3 RBIs on 2 hits. The Cardinals did get a scare as Tommy Edman left the game in the 4th with an injury. Right now he's day to day, but he may end up on the 10 Day IL with a shoulder injury. The Cardinals are already without Masyn Winn who broke his ankle during Spring Training.

The Cardinals will head out of the road for the first time in 2026 as they travel to Miami for a 3 game series with the Marlins.

The Texas Rangers are the 2027 American League Champions. I can't tell you how happy I am. I've been playing like I said since 2006 under the same mode and never have I reached the series. Game 5 was a nail biter as the Yankees led until the top of the 8th 3 to 2. Bobby Dalbec a rule 5 signing for me last off-season and a guy who only hit 220 and barely made the postseason roster hit a 2 run ht in the 8th. The only bad news from the game is Wyatt Langford got hur for 1 to 2 weeks so he was replaced on the playoff roster and will not be in the series.

In the NLCS the Braves came back from 3 games to 1 and will represent the National League. Atlanta won it all in 2025.

Cubs streak reaches 10 to remain perfect in August

After a rough July, the Cubs start to August has been great. With the streak, the Cubs are now tied for the most wins but Atlanta still has the best winning percentage (.661 with their 78-40 compared to the Cubs .655 and 78-41)

The Cubs swept their cross town rivals in their first and only meeting of the 2024 season. The series lasted just two games and the results in both were the same, 7-2 wins for the Cubbies.

After hitting three homeruns in the last game against Minnesota, Seiya Suzuki got his second multi homerun game in a row in game one versus the Sox. He hit his 1st in his first at bat and his second in the fifth inning to bring his season total to 27. Patrick Wisdom (42), Dansby Swanson (25) and Christopher Morel (23) added homeruns of their own as the Cubs took game one, 7-2. Jordan Wicks got his seventh win of the year after going seven innings as he allowed just a single run and struck out 6. Ben Brown, the Cubs #7 prospect pitched the final two as he gave up a run of his own and struck out 2.

The Cubs got out to a slower start in game two but took the lead in the fifth with rbi's from Christopher Morel, Yan Gomes and Seiya Suzuki. The Cubs didnt look back after that as they also won game two by the same score, 7-2. Wisdom added another homerun, his 43rd on the year.

The Cubs and the Naylor brothers now travel to Cleveland to face off with the Guardians (52-66/3rd AL Central) in the Naylor's first trip back to Cleveland after being traded to Chicago at the deadline.

Game 2 of the World Series did not go well for the Rangers. Skubal lasted only 4 innings and gave up 5 runs. Texas put runners in scoring position but could not drive in the tying runs as they fall 8 5. Atlanta hit 4 hrs in the game. Series is tied at 1 as we head to Atlanta. Brock Porter will face Urquidy

I just beat the Nationals, 17-1, scoring 10 runs in the fourth inning. The crazy thing is I didn't homer in the fourth inning. The only homer was an Adam Duvall 3-run blast in the ninth. Don't think I've ever scored like that without the long ball.

Also, I don't remember top prospects getting called up all that often during the season. The Nats called up Crews a couple of weeks ago. Looking at the transactions log, the Pirates just called up Skenes.
