After sliding down a rabbit hole with sliders and difficulty settings for over a week, i'm back on air.

Oakland A's 2024 Season

22nd Contact 15th Power 19th Pitching 9th Fielding 11th Speed

Going for the fairytale finish, and playoffs. I think they've got the bullpen to compete, it's all about getting enough innings from the starters to keep me in games and hopefully get some clutch hits when it counts.

Couple of minor trades

SS Oswaldo Cabrera from Yankees for 3B A. Toro - Cabrera has the 'fighter quirk' and I buffed his clutch and contact and potential - (a bit like a created/ fantasy player to make him like a young Lindor at Cleveland).

OF Brett Phillips Chisox for minor league C rated prospect - wanted his arm and fielding and pinch running.


First series hosting the Cleveland Guardians.

Game 1

Oakland 4 - 6 - 0 def Cleveland 2 - 8 - 1
WP - Paul Blackburn
Sv - Mason Miller
POG - Seth Brown 3-4 2B 2RBI

Blackburn got roughed up in the first inning and allowed 2 runs on 4 hits and a walk. Cleveland would keep the 2-nil scoreline until the 6th inning when Zac Gelof lined a two out double with runners on the corners, and tied up the game 2-2.


after Tanner Bibee (who was electric, with a 2-hit shutout) handed it over to the in the 8th.


Cabrera blooped a ball over the 3B head and legged out a double, and Brent Rooker was walked on 4 pitches. Seth Brown who was making good contact all game, lined a ball into deep left all the way to the wall for a standup double and 2 runs and a 4-2 lead.

Mason Miller closed it out needing only 5 pitches with his lights out 100mph fast ball the only pitch he would throw.

The score flattered Oakland as Woods was battered all around the park for his 4 innings giving up 4 runs on 8 hits. The A's were never really in this, as they couldn't touch Triston McKenzie who kept us off balance all night long. Changing speeds and eye levels all through the game.

In the 8th Oakland batted in 2 runs and had the bases loaded with 1 out, but Eli Morgan pitched his way out of the jam, and Clase closed out the game with a perfect 9th.

Games 3 and 4 to come.


All in all, I'm super happy with the sliders. Legend Pitching and Hall of Fame batting, with some nerfs (1 click) to my contact and power and a buff to CPU Pitcher control. Legend batting i just can't seem to do ... Not with Oakland's lineup, anyway lol

We're really contemplating bring Brendan Belt in at 1B. A solid left hand bat is something we need. Not sure Seth Brown can continue his torrid pace and clutch hitting.

If anyone is looking for a RP on the cheap. I called up Miguel Diaz last night in my Pirates Franchise. He had a sub 1.5 ERA in AAA and didn’t even notice how well he was doing. Well this guy has 90+ break and Velo. His Circle Change is the nastiest [emoji2961][emoji2961][emoji2961] I’ve ever seen in this game and he throws is off a 98-100 fast ball

Braves Finish Off Historic Regular Season With Sweep of Kansas City

September 27-29, 2024

The Atlanta Braves were successful in three things in this series: got the top spot in the National League for the playoffs, got over the 110-win threshold that is so rare, and also finished off the regular season in really strong fashion for the playoff run.

The opener against the Kansas City Royals was a 4-2 win for Atlanta, with all four runs coming from homers to Michael Harris, Ozzie Albies, Jarred Kelenic, and Sean Murphy, while Bryce Elder finished off the regular season in strong fashion by dancing around trouble to allow two runs in 5.1 innings. The bullpen was excellent in this game as well.

The second game featured a Cy Young clinching performance from Spencer Strider, who strike out the first six batters he faced enroute to 14 total in seven innings of work while only allowing two runs. The offense beat up on the Royals, with Harris, Matt Olson, Marcell Ozuna, and Orlando Arcia all going deep while Ronald Acuna stole four bases off of three hits. The final was a 9-2 win for Atlanta.

The last game of the regular season featured a late game comeback as the Braves were down 4-2 heading into the bottom of the seventh when Harris hit his third homer of the series, this one of the three-run variety. A Raisel Iglesias save would close out a 5-4 win. Max Fried was solid, allowing three in five innings, while Albies also knocked in two runs with two doubles.

The series sweep ends Atlanta's regular season at 111-51. This ties as the fourth best record in baseball history and puts them two games over the Dodgers as the best record for the 2024 season. Up next will be a playoff series against an unknown teams.

Maybe a bit young for who you're chasing and a divi rival, but 2B Johnathon India from Reds?

or my fav i usually always trade for, Kike Hernandez. Plays all the positions and has a knack for some of the most clutch hits i've ever had on The Show.

I've used Moncada a bit, and his defense on the hot corner is pretty average tbh. Lots of booted balls and scuffed throws.

Reds had India on the block but I have a house rule where I don’t trade within the division or else I may have looked at rents Goldy from STL.

I ended up going with Arraez. Josh Bell was on the block Miami wanted to get that $15m off the books early. So I traded for them both. Moved Triolo to SS. O’Neill is playing CF and Arraez is 2B. Josh Bell is a switch hitter so he goes right in the lineup since I got rid of Rowdy. I’m going to look at Kike in the offseason. I love players of his type that can plug any hole.

Got my franchise set up nearly a month ago, but wasn't able to actually play any games until the other day. Better late than never!

Braves open 2024 taking two of three from Phillies
Pretty good opening weekend for the Braves as they took two of three from NL East rival Philadelphia on the road.

Matt Olson hit a pair of home runs on Opening Day to lift the Braves to a 5-2 win. Ronald Acuna Jr. homered and stole a base to get his quest for a 50-50 campaign under way.

Olson homered again to highlight a five-run sixth inning as the Braves took the second game, 7-4. Michael Harris and Jarred Kelenic also homered for Atlanta. Bryce Harper hit his first homer of the season for the Phillies.

Ranger Suarez shut down Olson, and Kyle Schwarber homered and had an RBI single as the Phillies salvaged the series finale, 3-2. Ozzie Albies hit a ninth-inning homer for the Braves.

It wasn't a stellar start for the NL East. The Mets are 1-2 while the Marlins and Nationals were both swept to start the season. If you're keeping track, that means the Pirates (who swept Miami) are an MLB-best 4-0 to start the year.

Thoughts ...

For whatever reason, 23 just never felt right to me. I don't think I played 20 games before I gave up. In a really small sample size, 24 feels ... perfect to me! Absolutely loving the gameplay so far. Hit variety has been great. Playing default HOF/Competitive, the CPU makes me pay for mistakes, but I'm also able to make the CPU pay for its mistakes.

I'm a Classic or die guy on the mound. I usually play with the cursor off, but I have it on fade at the moment. And I'm still walking guys! I think I walked eight in the series. One was an IBB to Harper and another might as well have been intentional. But in the second game, the Phillies has Turner on second with two out and Harper on deck. The last thing I wanted to do was walk Merrifield, yet I did. Beautiful. And if pitching eventually becomes too easy (which it probably will), I'll simply turn the cursor off again. Really really happy with the game so far this year.

I am like you just getting my Braves franchise started. Doing the playing 141/ clutch moments 21 games. I took the 1st series vs. the Phils 2-1. Fried CG 8-2! The Phillies took Game 2 in extra innings with Trea Turner scoring the winning run. But Game 3, I had a HR party with Albies, Harris, and Duvall. I jumped on RHP Turnbull for 6 run 6th inning, we won 10-2.

Side note: I almost started my Franchise over, 1st inning Ozuna reached 1B with a walk, Harris hit into a DP, Ozuna slid feet first, broken ankle out for 6 months. I signed Evan Longoria to play DH/1B/3B and give Olson off as needed. Gave him 2yr 6.5mil, with the 2nd year being an option for us both. Right now, I have him in Gwinnett, might bring him for this White Sox or Opening Home series vs. D-backs!

Orioles Start August Hot

Game Date: Aug 12th, 2024
Orioles Record: 74-45 (1st AL East)
L10: 8-2

The Orioles began the month of August in second place in the AL East, two games behind the Rays, with a 10 game road trip to start the month. Those 10 games were all against playoff contending teams, including the division leading Rays. The Orioles proved to be up to the task going 8-2 in that span including a 3 game sweep of the suddenly slumping Rays. They are now leading the AL East by 2 games.

The O’s opened the month taking three of four from the Guardians. Only a late game meltdown by Yen Cano kept the O’s from sweeping their hosts from Cleveland.

Next the O’s headed to the Great White North to take on the Blue Jays and their potent offense. After losing the series opener 2-1, they proceeded to win the next two games, 2-0 and 6-4.

The Orioles then headed to Florida to take on the then division leading Rays, and proceeded to sweep them in 3 games that were not particularly competitive. Outscoring the Rays by a combined score of 22-3, in their most lopsided series of the season. Baltimore had been 1-6 this season against Tampa until this series.


Orioles Notes:

• LHP John Means has been shelved with a hip injury. Means is expected to miss a few weeks. LHP Bruce Zimmerman has been called up to take his roster spot.
  
• RHP Dean Kremer is expected to come off the IL this week. Kremer is recovering from a shoulder strain. Zimmerman will likely be sent back to Norfolk on his return.
  
• RHP Kyle Bradish is making a strong argument to win the Cy Young. Bradish has compiled a 16-3 record with an ERA of 2.74, he’s the only Oriole starter with more than 10 wins on the season.
  
• Despite having an extended cold snap at the plate there are some people mentioning IF Jackson Holliday as a potential AL Rookie of the Year candidate. Holliday is slashing .266/.310/.426 to go along with 10 homers and 44 RBI.

A's losing streak reaches six with second straight sweep

Such is life for the Oakland Athletics. They are in almost every game but seemingly can never pull off the victory as was evident in their first two games against Seattle as they lost game by just a single run, 3-2. Oakland then went on to lose game two, 5-3 in exta innings.

Those types of losses are frustrating enough but what is even more frustrating? Losing games that they should absolutely win. That was game three.

The game started off great for Oakland with their first four batters getting hits that ended up scoring three runs. That was awesome enough by its self because there has been plenty of games this year where Oakland hasn't managed four hits for the entire game.

Seattle was also able to get on the board early by scoring two runs in the second inning to bring the score to 3-2 and the Oakland faithful just had to feel like they were going to give up the lead again and eventually lose.

However, the Athletics offense then exploded. In the third inning, the Athletics had a back to back homeruns not once but twice (Seth Brown (10), Tyler Soderstrom (10), and then Jordan Diaz (5) and Aledmys Diaz (1) ). To bring the score to a comfortable 7-2 lead.

Then, in the very next inning, the Athletics had back to back to back homeruns from Zack Gelof (11), Brent Rooker (11) and Seth Brown (11). Wow, was that awesome and surely, we could hold a eight run lead....right?


Nope!

The Mariners then went on to score thirteen unanswered runs as they too took advantage of the high winds blowing out. The final nail in the coffin was Julio Rodriguez's 13th homerun of the season, in the ninth inning to make the score, 15-10 in favor of Seattle.

Oakland will now end their homestand as they welcome the Blue Jays (39-24/1st AL East) into town.

Atlanta Braves 2024 Regular Season Recap

Season Record: 111-51
Division Finish: 1st in NL East
Division Standings: Braves 111-51, Phillies 75-87 (36), Mets 69-93 (42), Marlins 69-93 (42), Nationals 66-96 (45)

Offensive Player of the Year: Austin Riley - Ronald Acuna led the Braves and the National League in WAR, but we have to go with the NL MVP in Riley. The superstar third baseman was scorched earth through April and that vaulted him to one of the best seasons in franchise history. Riley eventually ended the season with a .327/.386/.680 slash, a franchise record 55 home runs, and a franchise record-tying 139 RBIs. You have to feel bad for Matt Olson, who again had a marvelous season and was overshadowed by a teammate for MVP.
Pitcher of the Year: Spencer Strider - Strider led the National League in essentially every category during a 22-4 season that saw him pitch 219 innings with a 2.01 ERA and 270 strikeouts. His 8.4 WAR by far the best in all of baseball among pitchers, as the transcendent season also led to Strider winning his first ever Cy Young Award.
Surprise Player of the Year: Orlando Arcia - Arcia was a shocking starter heading into the 2023 season and even more shockingly given an extension before it, but Arcia has evolved into one of the best shortstops in baseball and just had his best season ever. Arcia slashed .294/.340/.485 while hitting 23 homers, 69 RBI, and 84 runs scored almost entirely out of the ninth spot.
Disappointing Player of the Year: Sean Murphy - After a great first half of 2023, Murphy has simply not been quite as good a player. In 2024, he only slashed .237/.293/.397 with 17 homers and 46 RBI. His defense remained stellar, however, and he was still worth north of two WAR.

Overall Thoughts: It is hard to find much to complain about when you’re talking about a top five record in the history of baseball. Bringing home the MVP and Cy Young and many other awards (four players winning the Silver Slugger Award) shows how complete this team really was. Offensively, almost every regular had a career year as the team finished second in batting average, second in runs scored, top 10 in stolen bases, while also setting MLB records for homers in a season (345, destroying the record) and slugging percentage (.525, destroying the record the 2023 squad put together). The defense put together a top three performance across the league to help a pitching staff that finished second in the league in ERA (3.26). The pitching staff did it despite just one dominant starter in Strider, but the other four starters were at least league average and the bullpen was just outstanding. This season was never about the regular season though, it was about winning a World Series title. Atlanta is as poised to do so as any team in baseball right now.

Fastest I've ever gotten through a regular season. Played the first 10 games then at least one game of every series. Such a blast and got to see the ups and downs of these guys (though obviously a lot of ups). Most fun I've had playing a sports game since the Online Dynasty days with friends. Super pumped for the playoff run to start hopefully sometime this weekend against either the Cubs or Diamondbacks.

I love the ups and downs of this game. Immediately after going 8-2 on the road against very good teams, I proceeded to get swept in a quick 2 game series vs. the Nats at home. I can not do anything against Josiah Gray, he's my krpytonite for sure.

Flagstaff, AZ (AP) - Flagstaff managed to win the finale to avoid a sweep and they sank further into the basement in the ML West.

In the opener, the Jack Rabbits pounded out 19 hits and six home runs in a 13-6 win over the Hops. Vladimir Bruno went 4 for 6 with a double, home run, and three RBIs to help pace the visitors.

Goodyear got out to a fast start and never let up, scoring in each of the first four innings to grab an 8-3 lead after four. Emilio Montalvo hit a two-run home run in the first to get things going for the Jack Rabbits. Roberto Geronimo answered with a two-run blast in the bottom half to tie the game at 2-2.

In the second, Caleb Diamond and Luis Mota hit back-to-back homers off of Geraldo Rodriguez to put the Rabbits up 4-2. Phil Newell got in on the act in the third, blasting a solo home run to right to make it 5-2. Vladimir Bruno then blasted a three-run shot off of reliever Samuel Espinoza in the fourth to make it 8-2.

Ryan Kelly and Kiko Pressley hit back-to-back doubles in the bottom of the fourth for a run for the Hops but they just could not keep up.

Phil Newell hit his second home run of the game, a two-run shot, in the seventh to make it 10-3. The Hops would get both of those back as Thomas Sanders reached on a throwing error with two outs that allowed Kiko Pressley and Robbie Westbrook to score.

Goodyear would add a run in the eighth on a Kian Kuo sac fly with the bases loaded. Flagstaff got that back on a Ryan Kelly RBI single in the bottom half that scored Art Mason. The Jack Rabbits would tack on two in the ninth on a Caleb Diamond two-run single.

Geraldo Rodriguez (4-8) took the loss, getting the hook after just 3.1 innings of work. He allowed six runs on seven hits. The bullpen wasn't much better as each of the four relievers allowed at least one run.

On Saturday evening, the Hops misery continued as they dropped a 2-1 decision to the Jack Rabbits. Abraham Blanco tossed 6.1 innings, allowing one run on six hits to pick up the win for Goodyear.

The Jack Rabbits would take the lead in the fourth inning. Reid Hoffman hit a one-out triple and then scored on a Vladimir Bruno RBI single. Emilio Montalvo would single Bruno over to third and he would score on a wild pitch from Ryan Pressley to put the visitors up 2-0.

Flagstaff would get one back in the seventh as Forrest Owen singled home Art Mason with the bases loaded and two-outs. But they could not tie it up and Robbie Westbrook grounded into a fielder's choice to end it.

Roberto Geronimo and Oscar Aleman would then both ground into doiuble plays with runners in scoring position to end the eighth and then end the game.

Fred Michael picked up his 27th save and he tightroped out of trouble in the ninth after allowing the first two runners to reach.

Ryan Pressley (8-10) took the loss. He pitched seven innings, allowing two runs on four hits, striking out seven and walking one.

The Hops outhit the Jack Rabbits nine to five in the loss.

NOTES: Art Mason left the game in the ninth inning, sliding back into first base on pick off attempt. It was determined after the game that he tore his groin and was placed on the 60-day Injured List, likely ending his season. The club has purchased the contract of right fielder Richie Jackson from Triple-A Albuquerque. The 21-year-old Jackson was hitting .335 with 18 home runs for the Isotopes and may make his IBL debut on Sunday.

On Sunday afternoon, the Hops scored twice in the first and made that hold up for a 2-1 victory over the Jack Rabbits to avoid a three game sweep. Alex Farmer (13-4) returned to form, tossing seven shutout innings, scattering three hits, while striking out seven and walking two.

David Petrovski (7) and Roberto Geronimo (22) hit back-to-back home runs in the bottom of the first to put the Hops up 2-0. That setup Alex Farmer, who gave up a lead off triple to Vladimir Bruno in the first, and got out of it stranding him at third, to shutdown the Jack Rabbits.

Kenneth Valdez came on in relief of Farmer in the eighth and gave up a single to Caleb Diamond and a double to Vladimir Bruno. He would get Peters to pop out to first. Kuo then grounded out, allowing Diamond to score, before Montalvo flew out to right to end the inning.

Vic Miller came on in the ninth and sent down the Jack Rabbits in order to pick up his 22nd save.

Richie Jackson singled to right in the seventh to pick up his first IBL hit in his debut. He went 1 for 3 in this game.

Flagstaff (45-62) will host Salt Lake (56-51) for a four game series to close out the home stand beginning on Monday evening.

Trades: Rio Rancho has acquired 35-year-old third baseman Danny Watson (95 OVR, A POT) from Roswell in exchange for 25-year-old center fielder Brian Cooper (78 OVR, A POT), 25-year starting pitcher Drew Roy (75 OVR, C POT) and 21-year-old second baseman Emmitt Dailey (59 OVR, A POT). Watson was hitting .258 for Roswell with 19 home runs and 68 RBIs. He has hit 86 home runs and driven in 226 runs the last two seasons for Roswell.

Las Vegas has acquired 29-year-old third baseman Frank Green (92 OVR, A POT) from Tucson in exchange for three propects. Heading to Tucson will be 25-year-old shortstop Rene Berroa (80 OVR, B POT), 21-year-old starting pitcher Calvin Merrifield (75 OVR, A POT) and 24-year-old third baseman Wes Nagle (67 OVR, C POT). Green was hitting .309 with 19 home runs and 61 RBIs for the last place Road Runners.

Around the League: Las Vegas' John Lopez (18) and Tawn Kramer (15) each hit grand slams as the Nuggets jumped out to a 9-0 lead in the second inning on their way to a 9-1 victory over Henderson on Thursday evening.

Long Beach got a strong seven innings from starter Matthew Sanchez (8-5) as he allowed just two runs on seven hits, striking out seven, as the Surf Dawgs defeated San Diego 7-2 to move into first place in the DL West. Herb Smith went 3 for 5 with a home run (20) and drove in two for the Dawgs.

St George scored three runs in the top of the ninth to tie Austin, then scored four in the top of the 12th to pull off an improbable 8-5 victory over the Fire Frogs down in Austin. Jamaal McCormack's two-run home run with two outs in the ninth tied the game at 4-4. McCormack's home run gave him 30 on the year, second in the IBL. Catcher Sammy Gomez then hit a grand slam (15) in the 12th to send the Archers on to the victory.

Salt River's Cosmo Dorta (11-8) struck out ten in seven innings, allowing one run on only two hits as the Rafters defeated Roswell 5-3 to move to within a game of a Wild Card spot in the Desert League behind Scottsdale and San Diego.

Ryne Rodriguez (8-6) threw a complete game, three-hit shutout, striking out eight, as Rio Rancho blanked Fort Worth 3-0.

West Texas' Chris Perez (7-7) tossed eight shutout innings, allowing just two hits and striking out 11 with no walks as the Bison defeated first-place San Antonio 1-0. Julio Padilla drove in the winning run in the top of the eighth after Chase Ponder tripled to open the inning.

Salt Lake's J.P. Grant went 3 for 4 with two home runs and four RBIs as the Chukars took care of Prescott 8-5. Grant is first in batting average (.348) in the Mountain League, and has 16 home runs and 55 RBIs this season for Salt Lake.

If anybody is still looking for a rebuild challenge, I recommend the White Sox. Man, they're bad. Really really bad.

Through two games, I've outscored them 19-0. Ozzie Albies has four homers in the series so far; the White Sox have four hits.
