Absolutely. My first year: 56-106, second year made the playoffs as a wild card and was one inning away from the World Series (still not over that Dansby Swanson home run in the bottom of the ninth...). My team took a step back in year three, but so far things are still looking good in year four. As someone who has never finished one whole season prior to this franchise, I must say the grind is worth it.

Another perk of doing multiple seasons: Wild things can happen. I'm in 2025 and the Yankees are one of the worst teams in the league. Aaron Judge signed with the Reds, a washed up Giancarlo Stanton was traded to Boston (!), Anthony Rizzo is...somewhere after I traded him to Colorado in 2024. It's a mess, and I love it.

        July 29 - August 1, 2024: SALT LAKE (57-54) @ FLAGSTAFF (48-63)
        Stadium: AutoZone Park (Capacity: 13,406)

        July 29: Chukars 6, Hops 4
        July 30: Hops 4, Chukars 0
        July 31: Hops 3, Chukars 2
        August 1: Hops 9, Chukars 7

Fl;Flagstaff, AZ (AP) - Flagstaff took three of four from Salt Lake to bring the home stand to a close.

Salt Lake opened up the four game series by rallying for a 6-4 victory over the Hops. A five run sixth inning was the difference and the Hops sank further into the cellar in the ML West.

Flagstaff got off to a quick start, scoring three in the first inning. Roberto Geronimo got things going with a one-out RBI single that score David Benitez. Ryan Kelly then added a two-out two-run single, but was out advancing to second.

Salt Lake would get one back in the fourth on Geronimo RBI single to right that scored Robby Payne.

Juro Yamaguchi was cruising along until the sixth. He would get the first two batters out, then ran into trouble. J.P. Grant singled to right and Geronimo followed with a single. Darell McCloud then blasted a three-run home run to put the Chukars in front 4-3. It was his 19th on the year. David Hernandez and Derek Hills then hit back-to-back doubles for another run and Guerrero singled home Hills to make it 6-3. The Chukars batted around to turn a two run deficit into a three-run lead.

The Hops would get one back in the seventh on a solo home run from Ryan Kelly, his 14th.

The Chukars bullpen would get the job done with closer Emmett Franco striking out the side in the ninth to pick up his 29th save. Virgil Wray (8-3) picked up the win, tossing six plus innings and allowing four runs on eight hits. Juro Yamaguchi (3-10) took the loss, throwing 6.1 innings and allowing six runs on 11 hits, while striking out eight and not walking a batter.

On Tuesday evening the Hops shutout the Chukars 4-0. Russell Fluty tossed seven shutout innings, scattering four hits and striking out five to earn the victory.

The Hops would grab the lead in the third on a Robbie Westbrook RBI double that drove in Forrest Owen. They would extend that lead to 2-0 in the fourth on an Emmitt Hampton home run, his 15th on the year.

Forrest Owen would add a two-run home run in the fifth to make it 4-0, his 11th on the season.

The story was Russell Fluty though. After a couple of mediocre starts, he brought his A-game on Tuesday evening to pick up his fourth win on the season. Oliver Benedict and Aldo Osuna each tossed a scoreless inning in relief.

Kiko Pressley, getting the start at third base, went 2 for 4 in the game. After the game Pressley was traded to Long Beach for three prospects.

On a rainy Wednesday evening, Donnie Roland, just recalled from Triple-A Albuquerque, was the hero. Roland went 3 for 4 with a double and home run, driving in two as the Hops rallied late to defeat Salt Lake 3-2 in walk-off fashion.

The Hops would grab the lead in the first on back-to-back doubles from David Benitez and Emmitt Hampton. They would extend that lead to 2-0 in the fourth on a Donnie Roland solo home run, his second of the season.

Starter Geraldo Rodriguez was lifted after seven shutout innings. He allowed just two hits and struck out three in a fantastic performance. Oliver Benedict came on and gave up a solo home run to Derek Hills in the eighth.

Vic Miller came on to close it out, but hit Hernandez with two outs in the ninth. He was pulled for a pinch runner, Elijah Hedgepath. Rafael Geronimo then lined a double into the left-center gap and Hedgepath came around to score to tie the game at 2-2. It was Miller's fifth blown save on the season.

But the Hops offense came through. Emmitt Hampton singled to open the ninth and was lifted for a pinch runner, Oscar Aleman. Roberto Geronimo rolled over on one to short but beat out the attempted double play. Donnie Roland then doubled to left-center and Geronimo came all the way around to score the game winning run.

After the game, Roland said that he hadn't lost faith being back in Triple-A. “I kept my head up. Rumors have been swirling about my future here in Flagstaff, but I feel like I can help this organization and I am glad to be back here.”

Vic Miller blew the save but was credited with the win, to improve to (3-2).

in Thursday afternoon's finale, the Hops brought their big sticks, hitting four home runs and pounding out 12 hits in a 9-7 victory over the Chukars to win the series. Roberto Geronimo went 3 for 5 with two home runs and drove in three to pace the Hops offense.

This was a back and forth game early on with Salt Lake grabbing a 1-0 lead in the second don a Darell McCloud solo home run, his 20th on the year. Flagstaff responded in the bottom half with a two-run home run from Donnie Roland. It was his second home run in as many games since being recalled from Triple-A, and put the Hops up 2-1.

Salt Lake would retake the lead in the third. Darell McCloud's RBI single tied the ballgame and Rafael Geronimo's two-run double put the Chukars in front 4-2.

Roberto Geronimo had the answer for Flagstaff as he blasted a two-run home run to tie the game at 4-4 in the bottom of the third.

The Chukars would go ahead again in the fifth as Rafael Geronimo singled to right with Juan Corona scoring. Darell McCloud was thrown out on the play (9-3-2) to end the inning.

Flagstaff would retake the lead for good in the bottom of the fifth on an Emmitt Hampton two-run hum run, his 15th on the year. Roberto Geronimo followed that with a solo home run to left, his second of the game and 24th on the season, to put the Hops up 7-5. They would extend that lead to 9-5 in the seventh on a bases loaded two-run single to right from David Petrovski.

Salt Lake would draw closer in the ninth on a two-run home run from Juan Corona off of reliever Aldo Osuna. Manager Matt Blake would then bring in Vic Miller to get the final out, striking out J.P. Grant to end the game and pick up his 23rd save.

Ryan Pressley (9-10) picked up the win, throwing seven innings and allowing five runs on eight hits. He struck out five and walked two.

Robbie Westbrook was the only positional player not to record a hit, but he did walk twice and scored a run.

The Hops (48-63) will now travel to Prescott to take on their rivals, the Hot Shots (50-60), for a three game weekend series.

Around the League: Chandler's Santiago improved to (13-2) despite a lackluster performance as Chandler rallied from a four run deficit to defeat Mesa 8-4. Santiago went six innings, allowing four runs on five hits, while walking five and only striking out two. Zach Dossett (22) homered and drove in two and Dewayne Ross homered (14), driving in three, to lead the first-place Chiefs.

St George blew a late lead, but then rallied to defeat Surprise 2-1 in 12 innings in a battle of first-place clubs. Steve Mihelich homered (17) with two outs in the bottom of the ninth off of Archers closer Sam Goodman to tie the ballgame. It was Goodman's seventh blown save on the season. But Angel Montes singled home Mikey Fisher in the top of the twelfth after Fisher opened the inning with a triple, his second of the ballgame, to win it for the Archers.

Colorado Springs' Donnie Samuels went 4 for 5 with a double, home run (6), three RBIs and two runs scored as the Snow Sox pounded Prescott 10-3 to move with a half game of the Hot Shots for third in the ML West. Colorado Springs is 13-6 in their last 19 games as they look to dig out of a hole that they dug themselves. They are now 9 1/2 games out in the Wild Card chase.

Chandler scored seven times in the bottom of the ninth to tie Mesa at 11-11, but lost it in the 14th inning on a Godfrey deGraaf (7) solo home run. The teams combined for 42 hits and 23 runs, but only three home runs. Four players had four hits in the game (Scott North and Karl Lentzkow for Chandler; Albert Pulido and Godfrey deGRaaf for Mesa)

Phoenix defeated Chandler 5-4 behind a strong pitching performance from Mario Escobar (9-10) as they defeated their former pitcher Rueben Starr (11-5). Escobar went 7.1 innings allowing three runs (one earned) on four hits while striking out nine for the last-place Firebirds. Starr got roughed up for four runs on five hits in just 4.2 innings of work against his former team.

Glendale's Dan Moore (8-5) tossed eight shutout innings, allowing four hits, while striking out 12 and not walking a batter in a 6-0 victory for the Desert Dogs over Tucson.

Scottsdale scored four runs in the top of the tenth to win in San Diego 6-2 and move into first place in the DL Central. Lee Lim (25) and Mark Griffin (18) each hit two run home runs in the tenth as Scottsdale won its seventh straight and improved to (13-1) in their last 14 games.

Colorado Springs continues to play well in the second half and Thursday afternoon they defeated Prescott 11-0 behind a complete game shutout from Sam Gonzalez (7-6). He scattered three hits, while striking out 11 and not issuing a walk. Mike Rock (18) and Donnell Marcus (24) each homered for the Snow Sox.

The All-Star break couldn't have come at a better time as the team looks to get healthy and mentally reset after the worst stretch of the season. We still have a decent lead in the division sitting at 55-42, 5.5 games up on the Twins. But the last 3 weeks have been hell. June started with a 3-game sweep at the hands of the Red Sox but the team bounced back with a sweep of their own against the Brewers before taking 2 of 3 against the Diamondbacks and 3 of 4 against the Angels and followed that up with another sweep this time against the Yankees. We then started a 9 game west coast road trip and everything fell apart. We started with a 9-7 win against the Angels, but Bobby Witt Jr suffered a Torn Calf putting him on the IL until at least mid-August and the rest of the team seems to have gone with him. We lost the last 2 games against the Angels, lost 2 of 3 to the Giants and A's. We returned home losing 2 of 3 to the Guardians and then getting swept by the Rangers before finishing the first half on the road losing 2 of 3 to the Twins and finally getting another series win taking 2 of 3 against the Padres.

In the 15 games Bobby played after coming off the IL we averaged 5.7 runs per game. In the 20 games since he went back on we have averaged just 3.1. Overall the team is now hitting .256/.306/.428 good for 12th, 27th and 9th in the league. We are 26th in Doubles (140), 5th in Triples (24), 7th in Home Runs (129), 10th in Stolen Bases (73), 4th in Stolen Base Percentage (.768), dead last in Walks (210) and 8th in Strikeouts (672).

            Spoiler

The pitching has continued to regress the deeper into the season we go. Cole Ragans now leads the starters in ERA at 3.51 with everyone else above 4.40. Tanner Scott finally gave up his first earned runs of the season. 2 in 40,1 IP for a 0.45 ERA and a 0.64 WHIP. The rest of the pen is still decent with Drey Jameson putting up a 2.52, John Schreiber is the worst guy in the pen so far with a 4.26 ERA, and the rest with ERAs in the 3's. As a team, we are 10th in ERA at 3.80, 10th in HR allowed with 112, 2nd in Walks with 221, and 23rd in Strikeouts with 682.

We come out of the all-star break with a good chance to get back on track. 11 straight games to end July against teams under .500. 9 of those against teams at least 13 games back. We open up August with our last series of the year against the Twins 23 of our 39 games left before September will be at home with only 13 against teams over .500. Seth Lugo will be activated before the first game back against the Reds. We will send Kyle Wright back down to AAA to make room on the roster. Bobby Witt and Kris Bubic both have 4-8 weeks left before they will be ready to come back so hopefully we are closer to the 4 weeks than 8 weeks. If our guys can start to score some runs again the schedule looks to be easy enough to maintain the division lead until they can return.

Just wrapping up a 7-game losing streak, Tigers beat Pirates 3-1, only to get throttled 11-5 in second game of series. The loss marks their eighth in their last nine games. Tigers now head to Boston, 25-30 on the season, 10-19 at home, with a 5.12 team ERA.

Cardinals win series with Nationals in St.Louis

The Cardinals (57-49) took 2 games of their 3 game series with the Nationals in St.Louis over the weekend. The Cardinals are now again tied for the NL Central lead with the Brewers.

The Cardinals lost Friday night as Matthew Liberatore was roughed up. Liberatore was knocked out in the 4th allowing 6 runs on 10 hits with 3 of those leaving the yard. The bullpen kept things from getting worse, but the offense could only push across 3 runs as the Cards fell 7-3.

Saturday saw Jack Flaherty pitch a gem. Flaherty would leave after 8 innings allowing 1 run on 3 hits and striking out 11. The offense wasn't strong but they put up 5 runs as Willson Contreras would hit a 3 run bomb in the 7th to extend the lead to 5-1 which would be the final score. Andrew Kittridge pitched a perfect 9th.

Sunday Sonny Gray got the ball and help from the bats. The Cardinals would have 11 runs on the board by the time the 3rd inning concluded. Gray left in the 7th of an 11-2 ballgame with a blister on his throwing hand. Keynan Middleton and Genesis Cabrera would close out the game and preserve the victory.

The Cardinals remain home as they host the defending World Series Champion Rangers for a 3 game series to close out the month of July.
I can't shave with my eyes closed, meaning each day I have to look at myself in the mirror and respect who I see.

I miss the old days of Operation Sports :(

Blue Jays win 2 games out of 3 against Minnesota

                  Game 1 : MIN 3-9 TOR
                  Game 2 : MIN 6-3 TOR
                  Game 3 : MIN 2-7 TOR

When two of the best offense in baseball square off, you can expect to see a lot of offense and that's what happened during this 3 games series.

The first game saw the Twins scoring 3 runs in the top of the first, thanks to a 3-run HR by Byron Buxton. But, the Blue Jays scored 6 runs in the bottom of the first to take a 6-3 lead. While Chris Bassitt settled down and pitched for 6.1 inning, Bailey Ober was knocked out after 2.1 innings, allowing 7 runs.

On Saturday, the Blue Jays had a rough day at the plate, recording only 5 hits but the pitching managed to take the game to extra innings only to see Byron Buxton hits an another 3-runs HR in the 11th inning to lead the Twins to the win.

On Mother's Day, Toronto offense was cold a good part of the game until the bottom of the 6th inning. Down 2-0, they scored 6 runs, including a huge 3-runs HR by Kevin Kermaier to put the Blue Jays ahead 4-2 before Bo Bichette goes deep for the 100th time of his career and extends the lead to 6-2.

The Blue Jays (30-10) will head back to the road for a 3 games series against the Orioles (24-15), who are sitting in the 2nd place in the AL East, 5.5 games behind.

Prior to game one, Oakland traded LHP JP Sears to Colorado for RHP Cal Quantrill. (i really like pitching east-west with Quantrill, 2-seam away, cutter back in)

                        Notes

Game two had a moment where Oswaldo Cabrera dived for an infield ground and injured his. It didn't look serious, but Cabrera will miss the rest of the season with an ACL. This is big, his defence and bat will be hard to replace. Oakland called up rookie Logan Davidson from AAA who was mashing the ball with a .375 2HR and 5RBI in his first 5 games.

Whitlock spun a gem! Kept hitters off balance all night with his lively fastball, and then backing it up with an unhittable changeup.

Next up, Oakland travels to Detroit for a 3-game set.

A's make bid for sweep but fall short

The A's are trying their hardest to get back to .500 as they won their second straight series, this one 2-1 over the San Diego Padres.

Game one saw the Athletics score double digit runs in their second game in a row (11-8 W Vs Toronto and 10-1 win Vs San Diego).

The biggest highlight of that game was back to back to back homeruns by Jordan Diaz, Aledmys Diaz and Lawrence Butler in the 5th inning.

In fact, Butler would remain hot in his chances during the series. He is not a everyday starter but did start two games in this series (1,3). In game three, he hit two homeruns but unfortunately , the A's fell short in their attempt at the series sweep as the Padres took the final game, 7-3.

Game two was won in twelve innings, 2-1.

The Athletics now head to Minnesota for four versus the Twins (35-34/1st AL Central).

I just finished year 1 of my Texas Rangers MOM season. We went all the way down to the last day as we battled the Yankees for the final Wild Card Spot. We however lost out by 1 game and therefore the year after the Texas Rangers won their only World Championship we finished 82-80 and 1 game out of the Wild Card. The World Series saw the Dodgers sweep the Orioles while Ohtani was named the World Series MVP. Highlights from year 1.

                              a. 2 rangers finished with over 30 HR's and 100 RBI's. Cory Seagar and Marcus Semien

                              b. A trade with the Astros of all teams saw Justin Verlander finish the season with 18 Wins (I put Owen White on the trade block in July and Houston offered Verlander) He did retire at the end of the year

                              c. Evan Carter was amazing. He hit 305 and scored 105 runs

Frustrating year but in the offseason I did sign Juan Soto in FA and Shane Bieber. I was shocked that Soto decided to come to Texas or that I had the money to get him
