Re: MLB The Show 24 Franchise Mode Discussion Thread
Guys, I apologize...I've played a total of 1 game since my last update...which feels like months ago. I've been engrossed in FC25, since I've fallen in love with soccer/football this year. But I think it's high time to revive the Nationals franchise. Baseball has been and always will be my game, so...Nationals, MLBTS 22...let's go!
Next release I really have to committ to one save early so I can really make progress. Playing in the second season in general is fun, but not if there are such good moves in real life at the same time.Comment

Country boy question, one of the reasons I love to read your game reports is due to the fact that I know it's not a forgone conclusion you will win it all every season which makes it exciting. Problem is when I play eventually I never lose and I lose interest fast, what settings do you use so that you are not guaranteed to win? Cause you play hundreds of more games then I do in a cycle and are never a lock to win it all

Re: MLB The Show 24 Franchise Mode Discussion Thread
Have you missed the playoffs on MLB24? Or MLB23?
I follow the threads on here somewhat regularly. Seems like most people are winning with their teans regularly. Only Dragster who plays MLB22 seems to be getting challenged.
Just curious. It is my contention the last 2 versions have nerfed CPU offense. I play on similar settings (only difference is I have pitching on Legend+ and hitting on Hall of Fame+ as I can't hit enough on Legend with my skills level). I just can't get CPU to consistently hit and my pitching stats are inflated.
Anyway, I was just curious. I like reading about your franchises too. Maybe I am off. I know you were around 100 wins last season and it just seems that you have been winning pretty easy on MLB24 based on memory. I'm interested in your take on it. Especially since the real life Cardinals were pretty bad in 23 and just over .500 in 24. I Feel like there used to be times prior to MLB23 where you missed playoffs and were around .500 but don't recall reading that lately (again, I browse here off and on over the years so I could be wrong).Last edited by TheBrew101; 01-04-2025, 12:38 PM.Comment

Yes I’ve missed the playoffs
I won 99 games in my last season which is the most I’ve won this year
The year I went to the World Series I won 90 games. The following I won 85 but made playoffs
I personally think the game is more difficult now than previous seasons.

Re: MLB The Show 24 Franchise Mode Discussion Thread
Now we did over perform our skill level in the 2024 season as we won 108 games. This year so far, we are 70-34 but with some moves, this team has been ranked as high as #3 (now #4 with Imanaga out with injury) in the league and there are some teams within reach off us (11th ranked Minnesota 66-38, 3rd ranked Atlanta 65-37 and 6th ranked Philiadelphia 64-38).
My main point is that I dont feel like Im not challenged and most games are closer than our record would lead some to believe. Oh and I play with the same settings as Country aside from my injury sliders which are still at default.
Now time for an update.
2025 Chicago Cubs (07/21-07/23
Overall Record:70-34 (1st NL Central/14.0 over Milwaukee)
Game Results:
Game 1
Cubs-9
Nationals-0
Game 2
Cubs-2
Nationals-0
Game 3
Cubs-8
Nationals-0
Cubs Blank Nationals
The Cubs not only swept the Nationals but they completely shut them down. That right, Washington failed to push a single runner across the plate in their three game series with the Cubs. Surely, that is a rare feat.
How did this happen though? Well great pitching of course. The Cubs got back to back complete game shutouts in the first two games of the series. Justin Steele had the first with the CG while he gave up just 4 hits, no walks and struck out 9 Washington batters. Ian Happ was a big contributor on offense as he accounted for 5 of the Cubs 9 RBI's. Four came on his third inning Grand Slam (7).
Jameson Taillon was the starter in game two and also went the distance as he allowed just three hits, 1 walk and struck out 8. Seiya Suzuki and Cody Bellinger provided the offense with Suzuki hit his 11th HR of the season and Bellinger got a RBI on an infield single.
Jordan Wicks was the starter in game three and unfortunately didnt get a chance to continue the run of CG SO's. He left the game in the third inning with a sore elbow but isnt expected to miss any time. Ben Brown did come in and finish it out however so we could say it was a combined shutout as the Nationals again failed to score.
Surely, the scoreless innings cant go on forever but Javeir Assad will be up next for his shot as the Cubs travel to New York to take on the Yankees (48-54/4th AL East)Comment

Re: MLB The Show 24 Franchise Mode Discussion Thread
Itsma and Countryboy, where have your teams ranked in ERA and strikeouts thrown?
I guess it is hard for me to believe there is the challenge when I see the Cards winning 99 games amd Cubs 108. There used to be a poster who had a Tigers franchise and he was winning like 120+ games.
In my opinion Legend pitching should be hard to win. That is top level--make it super hard for those that want it.
Also, I know this sounds negative but it isn't. I like MLB24. I have been playing 20, 21, 23 and 24 recently as I've been trying out different historical rosters users have made. I personally feel pitching was much harder on 20 and 21. I get hit pretty hard on Legend and throw far less strikeouts.
Now I'm not saying I prefer those games overall as I don't. I think the hitting and fielding and other aspects in 24 are superior. But I think pitching is way easier for whatever reason. More strikeouts is one of the reasons. Pitchers are less "wild" on 24 so less walks is another. Less foul balls is another.
My hope is MLB25 gives the CPU offense a boost on Legend. Although this may be a "me" problem as I haven't seen many other posts on it. But it is clear that for me this is the case as my stats back it up.
Anyway, sorry for derailing one of my favorite threads. I have been on this site since 2003 (I am an old guy). I often frequent this thread as I like reading about other franchises. Countryboy is one I follow often over the years. I think I just want to read about someone struggling and dealing with those obstacles in their franchises rather than 99+ game winning seasons. Lol, I'm not sure why because as long as everyone having fun in their franchise that all that matters. I guess as an outsider it isn't as intriguing to me. One of you franchise guys needs to start losing to pique my interest again...lol. So I guess bad luck in your franchises!Last edited by TheBrew101; 01-05-2025, 03:38 AM.Comment

It varies from season to season. Right now I'm ranked 19th in ERA and T-13th in strikeouts.
I won 99 games in the year 2029 (6th season in).
My win totals have been:
2024 - 83
2025 - 90
2026 - 85
2027 - 77
2028 - 88
2029 - 99
That averages out to 87 wins per year.
As for foul balls and all, here is the batter analysis for a game playing against the Rockies. They have fouled off nearly 25% of the pitches thrown. Just for reference the average number of foul balls per game is 46-50, so with 33 foul balls on their own, the Rockies are ensuring we reach that average.

Those pitching numbers do seem good. I'm jealous.Comment

Re: MLB The Show 24 Franchise Mode Discussion Thread
I think the first thing is CB has played 6 seasons, so he isn’t playing with the same team that the Cardinals had on the field in the real world.
As far as the game being easier….for me I agree with this as I play on Legend with AI contact at 6, power 7, timing 8. With those settings the AI is much more challenging.
I also play MLB20 as well and I play on HOF as Legend is too much for me.
I use classic pitching with catcher calling pitch and location and use timing hitting.
I am one of those guys that want the game to be a grind and challenging. I’m playing with the Royals and currently 2 games below .500. I have been playing since 06 and have yet to win the series and I’m fine with that.
The guy that constantly wins 120 games with the Tigers apparently enjoys it, I would not play as I wouldn’t enjoy it. To each their own. Play ball.🇺🇸 58,281 🇺🇸Comment

Re: MLB The Show 24 Franchise Mode Discussion Thread
Just had my wildest series of the season, visiting the Bronx and playing the Yankees for the last time in the regular season.
Going into the series, I was just a single game back in the East, behind the Pinstripes.
Game 1, I have a decent game, a 6-3 victory to tie the division.
Game 2, a nice little back and forth affair. Unfortunately Verdugo hits a walk-off 2-run bomb to make it 6-5, with New York taking back the division lead.
Game 3, I make it 8-2 in the 8th, but the Bombers make me sweat it out scoring a pair of runs in the 8th AND the 9th, I manage to close it out 8-6 and re-tie the division.
Game 4 is where it gets juicy. Maybe one of the craziest games I've played.
Yankees take a 4-0 lead after scoring 2 runs in each of the first 2 innings. Figured I'm probably gonna drop this one. I somehow bring across 6 runs in the 7th, which is promptly wiped away by New York in the 8th. We go into extra innings tied up 7-7.
I scratch and claw my way to 2 runs in the 10th, feeling good about myself. That is, before Gleyber Torres hit his own 2-run homer to tie it back up.
I'm feeling woozy, about to let the division lead slip through my fingers. And then like a beatiful, precious angel, Triston Casas sends that cowhide deep into the Big Apple evening, marching himself and two others across the plate and marching the Boston Red Sox into 1st place in the division for the first time this season, with 12 games left in the regular season.Boston Red Sox
