Re: MLB The Show 24 Franchise Mode Discussion Thread

I'm playing a newer franchise I started a week or so ago (a fantasy draft if that matters), and about halfway through the season I'm checking the development of my prospects and the bars don't show any + or -, but up at the top their overalls are changing and it has a green or red arrow for that. But I like how they show it for each Stat. Did I mess up a setting somewhere, or is it a glitch? Does anyone know?

You probably need to make sure roster control is turned off, and the make 2 profiles, one for your team and one for all the other teams. and set everything to manual for each team. And don't click "auto" to anything messages regarding the other 29 teams if you want to control all their moves.

Cardinals acquire Eli Morgan from Astros

The Cardinals have acquired RHP Eli Morgan from the Astros in exchange for IF Edmundo Sosa and RHP Jake Sullivan.

The Cardinals need help in the bullpen, as the last week has proven. The Cardinals over the past 5 games have blown leads of 7, 5, and 6 after the 7th inning.

Morgan comes in with a 2.34 ERA and 36 strikeouts over 28 innings of work.

The Cardinals may not be done filling holes in the pitching staff as the trade deadline is just 3 days away.

Almost threw a Perfect Game with a rookie (Wikelman Gonzalez) in his MLB debut. Lost it on the first pitch of the 9th, took him out after the next guy hit a 2-run home run. 14 strikeouts.

I've never been more stressed and calm at the same time.

              2025 Chicago Cubs 07/01-07/03

              Overall Record:60-28 (1st NL Central/12.0 over Milwaukee)

              Game Results

              Game 1
              Cubs-4
              Red Sox-2

              Game 2
              Cubs-7
              Red Sox-2

              Game 3
              Red Sox-6
              Cubs-3

Strong pitching gets Cubs to 60 and a series win over Red Sox

Daniel Palencia started his first game in game one versus Boston. He was entered into the rotation with Shota Imanaga out for an extended time with his broken hand. Palencia did not disappoint in his season starting debut. He pitched into the eighth inning, allowed just 4 hits, 2 runs, 1 earned run, 1 walk and 10 strikeouts. The 10 strikeouts marked the Cubs first starter with as many in over a full calender month. With Palencia hopefully getting the starting pitching on track, Juan Soto also tried to get himself back on track as he hit two homeruns (36, 37) to break his 11 game streak with out one.

All of the Cubs runs in game one came via the solo homerun as Cody Bellinger (16) and Bo Naylor (19) added their own into the mix to give the Cubs the 4-2 victory.

Cy Young candidate, Justin Steele was nearly as good in game two. He pitched a full 8 innings, allowed 5 hits and 2 runs while he struck out 8 of his own. The Cubs offense was better as six of their nine starters had an rbi in the game and everyone aside from Ian Happ had a hit. The Cubs went on to win that one, 7-2.

The good pitching did not follow the team into the final game of the series. Jameson Taillon took the mound and promptly gave up five hits and five runs in the very first. The biggest dagger came with two outs when Darick Hall hit his sixth homerun, a three run shot into the right center field bleachers.

Taillon did some what get going after that but would give up another run in the third and eventually exit the game in the sixth. The Cubs tried to fight back but ultimately fell up short, 6-3. Bo Naylor did hit another homerun for his 20th. Its only July 3rd and he is already 6 above his career high and currently sits second on the team.

The Cubs now return home to face off with the Guardians who they got the Naylor brothers from last year. Cleveland isnt doing great (39-48/3rd AL Central) and they just traded their star closer, Emmanuel Clase to the Padres in return to CF Jackson Merrill and 1B Nathan Martorella.

                2025 Chicago Cubs 07/04-07/06

                Overall Record:62-29 (1st NL Central/13.0 over Milwaukee)

                Game Results

                Game 1
                Guardians-6
                Cubs-3

                Game 2
                Cubs-6
                Guardians-5

                Game 3
                Cubs-6
                Guardians-5

Despite apparent fire sell, Guardians keep it close vs. Cubs

As mentioned before, the sale really started last year when the Cubs traded for both Josh and Bo Naylor. After a slow start, that sale has continued this year and even during the series with the Cubs. Just a few days before the series, Cleveland traded away their star closer Emmanuel Clase to the Padres. After the second game of the series with the Cubs, Cleveland traded Jose Ramirez to the Angels for two pitchers, Chase Silseth (24 YO SP) and Mason Black (25 yo RP)

Still with all the moves, Cleveland has been stocking up on young potential stars. They have acquired the likes of Silseth, Druw Jones, Jackson Merrill, Triston Casas and MJ Melendez.

And with all that, they played the current #1 team in the MLB really tough.

The Cubs lost game one by the same score as their previous game against Boston, 6-3. That was also again in large part due to a poor start. This one belonged to Jordan Wicks who pitched just 5 innings as he gave up 5 runs. He did strike out 9 but if they werent striking out, they were hitting. In total, the Guardians had 11 hits. The Cubs also hit well as they tallied 10 of their own but they couldnt score as much as they only mustered the three earlier mentioned runs.

Game two saw the Cubs have to take the lead in the eigth inning to get the victory and game three went into extras where the Cubs took their second consecutive 6-5 victory.

The Cubs now head into a series versus Arizona (45-45/3rd NL West/0.5 behind Padres).

5 weeks left in regular season, Cards and Reds still neck in neck

The 2029 regular season is 5 weeks from completion and the Cardinals and Reds continue to battle for the top spot in the National League Central, and now the Brewers have joined in the excitement.

The Cardinals currently lead the Reds by a half game and the Brewers by 5 1/2. The Cards and Reds are not only battling for the division title, but are also trying to catch the Dodgers for the best record in the NL, while keeping the Braves/Phillies at bay. They trail the Dodgers by 8 games, but lead the Braves/Phillies by the same margin.

The only two divisions that feel as though they are locked up are both the NL and AL west. The Dodgers lead the NL West by a whopping 15 games over the Giants. The Rangers lead the AL West by 9 games over the A's. Speaking of the A's, they are in contention for the wildcard (2 back) but they just keep substaining injuries that will likely end their exciting and surprising run.

The Yankees lead the AL East by 5 games over the Red Sox and Orioles. The Twins lead the AL Central by 6 games over the Guardians and the Braves currently hold a 2 game lead on the Phillies.

It should be a fun final 5 weeks of the regular season, especially in the NL Central.

What do you use for in game and simulation injury slider settings?

I'm heading into 2026 and was using 6 in game and default (5) sim injuries, but I want a little bit more this next season.

Cardinals finished 9 games out of 1st place and 6 games back for a WC and fail to make the postseason. I did not resign our manager Oli Marmol and hired a new manager. Milwaukee Brewers won the Central.

LA Dodgers won are back to back WS winners as they beat the Minnesota Twins 4-2 for the 2nd year in a row.

We are going big this season, trading 3B Nolan Arenado to the Blue Jays for a 23 yr old SP prospect.

We sign SS Bo Bichette, 1B Josh Naylor, and SP Chris Paddack. We lacked hitting last year and needed to beef up the roster.

Cardinals head to final month of season with playoffs in sight

The Cardinals (84-53) head into the final month of the season with a return to the playoffs in their sights. The Cardinals currently lead the NL Central by a single game over the Reds, but would have to have a monumental collapse to at least make the playoffs as a wildcard team.

The Cardinals enter the month after taking 2 of 3 from the Yankees in the Bronx over the weekend, and did so without Masyn Winn and Ivan Herrera.

Winn suffered a forearm injury and will return to the club this upcoming weekend when the Mariners come to town. Herrera suffered a broken hand a few weeks ago that will keep him off the roster until the playoffs. He's due to return 2 days after the end of the regular season.

The Cardinals are about to head to Milwaukee for the final 3 game series with the Brewers. The Brewers are in the wildcard at the moment, but a sweep of the Cardinals could make a division crown a more attainable goal.

                        The Cards remaining schedule:

                        3 vs SEA

Soto continues to smash as Cubs take 3 of 4

Last season, Patrick WIsdom broke Barry Bonds' record as he hit 40 homeruns before the all star break. Soto has now broken Wisdom's record as he now sits at 42 with one more series to go until the break.

He started the Arizona series with 39 and made it 40 in Chicago's game two blow out win. In that game, Soto hit one of the Cubs six homeruns. Out of the Cubs 15 runs, 13 were scored in the 3rd (6) and 4th (7) innings.

It was again the long ball that got the Cubs the win in game three all though the offense as a whole had their struggles against Brandon Pfaadt and company. The Cubs ended up winning the game 2-1 behind two solo shots by Seiya Suzuki and Bo Naylor. Meanwhile, Jordan Wicks got his outs when needed and despite allowing 10 hits, he allowed just one run that game in the ninth inning. Tanner Scott came in afterwards and got his 22'd save of the season.

Scott was then unable to get the save in game four as he gave up three hits and three runs in between the 9th and 10th innings. Carl Edwards JR also gave up two of his own in the 10th while the Cubs only managed two of their own as Arizona avoided the sweep with the 7-6 victory.

The Cubs have a tough one to end the first half of the season as Atlanta (59-34/1st NL East/0.5 over Phillies) comes to town for a three game series.

                              Cardinals clinch postseason berth

The Cardinals (92-57) have clinched a postseason berth after sweeping the Blue Jays in Toronto. The Cardinals currently trail the Reds (94-57) by a game for the NL Central Division title.

The Cardinals had a chance to put some distance between them and the Reds when the two faced off mid-week, but the Reds took 2 of 3 to leave St.Louis with a single game lead in the division.

The Reds have also earned a playoff berth as have the Dodgers, who clinched their 8th straight NL West title.

The Cardinals will be home this week for the final time in the 2029 season. They will host the Pirates for 4 games before the Guardians come to town this weekend.

Cardinals finish season 99-63 but still is a wildcard team

The Cardinals finished the season one win away from 100 on the season, but will still be playing in the Wildcard Series against the Giants, the team they ended the regular season against.

The Reds won the division with 102 wins and will be the 2nd seed as the Dodgers won 107 and will be the number one seed in the National League. The Giants are the 2nd Wildcard team and the Brewers are the 3rd wildcard team and will face the Braves in the other wildcard series for the National League.

In the American League the Twins have the best record and will be the one seed. The Yankees will be the 2 seed and the Rangers will be the three. The Guardians are the top wildcard seed and will face the Red Sox, the 2nd wildcard team. The 3rd wildcard team was the Orioles and they will face the Rangers in the other AL Wildcard Series.

The Cardinals and Reds were neck in neck for most of the final month, until a stretch where the Cardinals lost 6 straight, allowing the Reds to get up by 5 games and never look back. While frustrating, it does feel good to be back in the postseason after missing the two previous seasons.

Tarik Skubal will get the ball in Game 1 of the NL Wildcard Series. Louis Turnwall will get the ball in Game 2. Game 3, if necessary, hasn't been decided between Max Fried and Garret Cole.

Yordan Alvarez wins National League Triple Crown and MVP

Yordan Alvarez certainly made an impact in his first season in St.Louis as he won the NL Triple Crown. Alvarez led in average (.331) homeruns (58) and RBIs (136). He also had 53 doubles on the season. Not surprisingly Alvarez was also voted the National League Most Valuable Player.

Ryan Helsley wins National League Reliever of the Year

Ryan Helsley also took home hardware as he won the National League Reliever of the Year award. Helsley finished with 50 saves in 55 chances. Helsley also won the award in 2027.
