Re: MLB 11 "Road To The Show" thread

I am a RTTS player only and so far the mode plays really well compared to previous years. The new point assignment seems to work very well, it doesnt put so much pressure on one individual at bat as it does your entire game as a whole.

Base stealing is much better as well, I am currently 11 for 16 in AA ball, and every result seemed to correspond well to the type of jump I got coupled with the pitch that was thrown. It is also much easier to get back to the base on a pickoff attempt compared to previous years...even if you are leaning hard towards the next base you have a decent recovery period to still get back if the pitcher makes a move towards you.

The one beef I have with the baserunning is it still is hard to see where the ball is going when the CPU player hits it, and still sometimes tricky to figure out which way to push the stick to advance the runner...i've run into some terrible situations where i should have scored easily but somehow stopped the runner when the camera swings around and I didnt change the direction I was pushing on the stick to correspond to the new camera angle.

Generally though, so far the mode seems much improved from previous years. I am looking forward to advancing into AAA and MLB to see if the CPU players play appropriately harder as you get into what should be harder leagues to succeed in. In previous years advancing didn't feel any different, all levels seemed to play the same.

I find it much easier to press select and have the arrows come up as with them on it is hard to get off track

Well my first year is up, got defeated in the first round of the Minor League playoffs despite having the best record in AA. Was beaten in a clinching game by a phantom 9 run inning by the home team in the bottom of the 9th.

Blue Jays AA SS 18 year old Bryce Arnold finished the year in the top 3 of all triple crown categorys. Hitting .329, with 17 hr, and 78 rbis. He even had a short stint in AAA Las Vegas where he struggled mightly for 3 weeks.

In the off season the Jays signed him to $110,000 AAA starting SS contract.

Started MLB 10 with a 3rd Baseman in the Phillies organization and was traded in my first season to the Baltimore Orioles for Miguel Tejada. This year I started another 3rd Baseman with the Phillies and once again I was traded to the Orioles in my first season for Vlad.

In my 78 games played in the Phillies organization I hit .335 with 25 HR and 88 RBI. I just want to stay in the Phillies organization haha.

I read in another post that if you hold L2 you can follow the ball while you are running.

Got the game for the PS2 yesterday, thanks to my brother. Drafted by the Cubs, which got my roommate chuckling. So far, I'm not noticing any real big changes, other than roster moves. I will post stat and performance updates as I go. Also, the features that everybody's talking about? PS3 only. D'oh, now I really want one of those.

I have been playing the show for years now, and had never tried this mode. On lunch just now I decided to create a rtts character. I am a 5'9 175 contact hitting good defense and speed second baseman.

I was drafted by the Marlins, but I had to go back to work before I was able to get a game in. Now I can't wait to get home to finally give this mode a long overdue try.

This is my first time owning MLB The Show and I am new to RTTS. I created a SP and I got drafted by the A's organization. Now my questions to you all are:

                            1. Do you have to pitch to the location given by the catcher or is it just a suggestion? Sometimes I find myself not agreeing with the pitch location.

                            2. Do you get less points if you don't pitch to the suggested location?

                            3. Could anyone point me in the direction to where I could find help on pitching strategy? or share your pitching strategy?

My apologies if this is not in the right thread.

You don't have to do what the catcher says, that is just a feature of the game to help you. Sometimes I listen, sometimes I don't. It's up to you and you aren't penalized for not pitching what the catcher calls.
