Analog. Really don't have any trouble getting good timing / swings during games, other drills, etc... In this drill for some reason though, I just foul off SO MANY "perfect" timing swings, and just drill some grounders back up the middle that wind up being "fair with poor contact". I usually get around 6 or 7 "successes", and have gotten 9 a couple of times.

I really kind of feel at this point that I'm just going to have to get lucky one time.

Re: MLB 11 "Road To The Show" thread

In my first year as a SS in the Brewers organization I advanced to AAA. In AA and AAA I hit 296 with 14 HR and 53 RBI with 24 sb and a 997 Fielding %. I was called up on opening day because of an injury to Betancourt(dont ask me why they resigned him). I ended the season with this line- 287 AVG, 361 OBP, 162 hits, 21 HR, 72 RBI, 68 BB, 27 SB, and 4 CS. And in the playoffs hit 367 with 4 HR, 18 RBI and 9 SB. This includes the world series clinching game where I went 3-3 with 2 HR(solo in first and grand slam to take the lead in 5th) and a single that help set up a 5 run 8th, 2 BB and 2 SB. I won WS MVP and ROY. I signed a 3 year 22 million dollar contract! We also resigned Greinke, Fielder, nyjer, corey and marcum to 4, 8, 2, 4 and 3 years. So ill be part of a really solid team for several years to come.

I'm in the year 2013 in the Angels organization after being traded around a couple of times. Sadly I'm a rookie and the "Ace Starting Pitcher" and my overall is not that good. Also, I don't know if this is just me, but it seems like whatever team I'm on, they always score all the runs after I get yanked from the game, it's very annoying.

Just out of curiosity how long did it take some of you guys to reach the bigs? I know this isn't going to come overnight, but how long did it take some of you. I'm in the Royals system as a shortstop.

I have 2 road to the show guys:

                1. Is a SP for SD i have got traded a couple of times and now i am in the MLB in my second season. My guy is doing great but SD only scores me 1 or 2 runs per game and i really want to get traded and when i get to be a real FA i will not be resigning

                2. My 2nd guy is a LF for the Phillies. I was on the yankees farm and the twins farm but then i got traded to teh Phillies. I am in my 3rd season with my hitter in the mlb. i am in augest and have 13 hrs and 43 RBI in about 200 AB. My guy has ups and downs and i ahve 85 power on each sides. I had great power in the minors but i cant seem to get HR or even hits for that matter in the MLB. I only seem to get outside pitches that i cant due anything with.

Depends on your stats/attributes/goals and the system you're in. I spent a full year in AA and a full year in AAA (with a September call-up at the end of AAA) before going full time in 2013. The A's system at that time was a barren wasteland so I stuck as a started immediately.

My power is in the upper 70's. I guess it is just a slump, hopefully I'll work out of it.

I started hitting better when I quit guessing. I was guessing fastball most of the time, never guessed location. Anyway, I found if I didn't guess and just concentrated a bit better on watching the pitches, I got a lot better at not swinging at bad ones, and driving the good ones.

None of mine got called up their first year. Most of mine started their 2nd year in AAA (and one that didn't was called up after a few hot weeks). I'm about halfway through the 2nd season with most of them, and so far, none of them have been called up.

I did get one called up as an injury replacement for Josh Hamilton, but I reverted back to a save (since he was lost for 6 months and my stats really aren't ready to be in the bigs yet). I was highly annoyed that the announcers didn't say anything about me debuting in the big leagues, nor did they say anything when I got my first big league hit in my 3rd at-bat. Does that happen to everyone else? I figured it would be a bigger deal.

09 was the last Show I owned, and in that one, I guessed fastball high on every pitch. Seemed to work just fine. Then, on this year's game, I noticed just how much of a PCI penalty there was for guessing an incorrect pitch.

This, coupled with the analog swing system, completely changed how I do it. Now, I only guess fastballs in fastball counts (2-0, 3-1), to get the contact bonus associated with guessing it correctly. Really, doing it this way, just watching the pitch without guessing, has greatly improved my overall hitting. I'm MUCH better at drawing walks in this year's game, and fouling off pitches in 2 strike counts, etc.

Really love the analog hitting system. It's basically gotten me to where I can take much more realistic approaches to at-bats than I was able to with zone hitting.

My starting pitcher, James Money was on the Mets until he got traded to the Mariners. Now he's the Ace pitcher in triple A. We are now going into the playoffs. I finished the year 10-4 with an ERA around 3.55 in triple A which is good because I was only there like half the year and half that tima I was a relief pitcher. I'm a speed pitcher with a 98 mph 4sfb, a 89 mph slider, 80 mph curve, 84 mph splitter and a 63 mph knuckleball. I need to work on my control which is at the best a 66. I'll definently be in the majors next year.

The line-ups in RttS are insane. Miguel Montero, easily the worst hitter of the top 7 in the line-up continues to bat 3rd. Note to developers for next year, ditch the catcher fetish. This is the 2nd RttS for me where the catcher is batting 3rd when he should be batting 7th-9th.

So I'm set up as a Closing Pitcher. But I'm stuck as the setup guy in AA. I'm sporting a .56 ERA (2 ER in 32.2 innings). The stupid game has a starting pitcher (Jesse Biddle) as the closer, and another starting pitcher as the "other setup guy." I have by far the best numbers in the bullpen, but everytime I ask the manager to give me a shot at closing games, he tells me I'm not ready. But the "other setup guy" who is sporting a 5.56 ERA, with 4 blown saves in 4 opportunities, continues to get save opportunities here and there. I have yet to get a single chance to save a game.

So I go to the Futures Game, and I'm brought into the game in the 11th in a 1-1 game. The stupid AI has me throw 145 pitches through 10 innings...yea it went to the 21st. In the 21st inning the other team bunts FOUR TIMES in a row, and scores the go ahead run. Seriously? 4 perfectly placed bunts, and thats how it goes down? I've just about lost all interest in this game mode, it is so broken it isn't even funny. Everything they said they were improving for RTTS hasn't been improved. The GM and Manager logic is beyond terrible. Why is there an option to ask the manager things, when every single time you ask he turns you down? Seriously what is the point?!
