Got to do better! I got called up to the Sox in August of my 1st year. Be careful what you wish for though. I'm still in the bullpen at the start of my 2nd season and it is rough in the majors. I'm too used to starting so hopefully it won't be long before I've moved into the rotation. They can't leave my 97 mph fastball in the bullpen forever.

For you RTTS hitters, how do you play usually. Only hit, hit and field, watch the whole game, etc. Just curious!Comment

Re: MLB 12 The Show: Road to the Show Thread
I kind of did the same. I got called up to AAA a couple weeks after the all-star break, got 6 AB's and then broke my hand and got put on the DL for the rest of the year. The next year when I was 19 I went on to the Majors and lost in the World Series.. Good times.Chicago Bulls | Chicago Bears | Chicago White Sox | Chicago BlackhawksComment

Re: MLB 12 The Show: Road to the Show Thread
I got demoted finally! I hate pitching out of the bullpen. I don't care if I made Boston in only 4 months, never got a chance at the rotation. Finally back in AAA and I'm the ace of the staff. Now hopefully this time, they'll wait to call me up until they actually need a starter. Waste of time pitching an inning or two here or there when I can go 8 and 9 in AAA.Comment

A question for people in this thread...
Has anyone ever become the starter at their secondary position? I ask because last year I made a CF/OF who ended up on the Pirates and when I made the majors, I started at CF. They moved McCutchen to LF. I don't think that would really happen.
I can understand it from a video game perspective I suppose because people may get upset if they made a CF and didn't get to play CF.Comment

Re: MLB 12 The Show: Road to the Show Thread
So I continued my Shortstop season for the Rockies after a 2 week break, played 2 games then out of nowhere I was called up to the Majors.. first game I went 2-3 with 3 RBIs and 2 doubles I believe... or was it 3/4? I don't know.
So far I have about 5 home runs in August 1st with 15 RBIs and about 20 runs scored in about 30 games, just the stats I wanted the past years instead of monster numbers at the age of 18.. that's right.. 18 it's still 2012!
I also have a killer Starting pitcher who's ERA is 0.41 8-0 record with Trenton in double A 69 innings pitched with 67 strike outs. 4 Complete games under my belt, hopefully will be called up soon! Why did I move here? I guess it was the weather.Comment

Re: MLB 12 The Show: Road to the Show Thread
After skipping AAA, and starting my 2 year in the majors I finally got my wish and sent down.
Spent the first half of my 2nd season for the Mets in a bench role as a SS. I got to play as a utility outfielder, and was only hitting .220, 6 hrs, 27 rbis. Only started about once every 4 days, and maybe played my real position 4 times.
I couldn't hit major league pitching to save my life as I was just 19 with only 1 season of hitting AA pitchers. The difference in difficulty is huge, wasn't even close to being ready for that.Comment

Re: MLB 12 The Show: Road to the Show Thread
Anyone else get some pretty inconsistent results when doing the contact training?
I was playing earlier and got a line drive off the pitcher only to have it say 'FAILURE- fair with poor contact'. Then I barely foul tipped one back into the cage and it said, 'Retry- foul with good contact'. I ended up failing the level, but I think it needs some tweaking.Comment

Re: MLB 12 The Show: Road to the Show Thread
Had a pretty nice year in AA, was hitting over .300 with 19 homeruns and 93 RBIs and then got called up to AAA in August. For whatever reason, I couldn't hit a beach ball when I got promoted. Finished the season at .202 with four homeruns in 96 at-bats. Somehow I still finished with 11 RBIs as well.
In my second season I have tore it up in AAA. I have a .315 avg with 10 HR and 35 RBIs through the first week in May. The only downside is in just 109 at-bats I have 28 strikeouts. I have guess pitch on and I always guess fastballs so when I get one I tend to gear up to swing and accidently swing even if it is out of the zone. I also have 8 SB but I get caught ONE TIME and my manager benches me for one game and said that more bench will be coming if I steal again. Well...the only reason I increased my speed was to steal bases so I was like wtf skip lol.Comment

I just bat lol. I'm all about putting up big numbers offensively and could care less about defense. Forrest Wilcox puts up numbers and the funny thing is I won the gold glove at 1B and I didn't play one play all year just simmed.Call me the Clutch Man

Re: MLB 12 The Show: Road to the Show Thread
Made a CP Miguel Santana (Big Daddy Wolverine). Got drafted by the Brewers. Traded in a 1 for 2 trade to the Yankees for SS Michael Esparza and SP Rhett Berger after 20 games of AA. Played in the the Futures game as a CP and blew the save. Played in the AA all-star game as a RP. Traded after the all-star game to the Mets in a 1 for 2 trade for RP Garrett Olsen and SP Randy Wolf.
Ended the season with 49 saves a WHIP of 0.99 and an ERA of 2.02 without getting called up to AAA. Started the next season in AAA and pitched 20 innings with slightly worse stats than in AA before getting called up to the show because of an injury. Pitched 25 innings as RP with a few save opportunity, mostly struggling, having my mistake pitches capitalized on. Got sent back down to AAA when the injured player was recovered and the playoffs were starting to finish of the year. Had a similar WHIP and ERA while in AAA.
In my third season, at the age of 20, got signed to a 1 year deal to be the CP for the Mets. After 19 innings I have a WHIP of 0.99 and an ERA of 2.16 while leading the league in saves (19). have adjusted to MLB hittting this time around and have got a 4sfb with 99vlc and 96 ctl. My other pitches, a fork ball and slider are only around 60-70 across the board so i need to be careful with their location. Also my k/9 has gone down from around 10 in the minors to 4.5 in the show.Last edited by JV93Pjilly; 04-02-2012, 12:42 AM.Comment

Re: MLB 12 The Show: Road to the Show Thread
Just finished .367 with 48 HR and 143 RBI. Won the MVP, Hank Aaron and Silver Slugger & an All Star nod. But during that offseason I don't get a single contract offer from any team lol. So I tore it up for the BoSox as a spring training invitee, only to get a 2,000,000$ offer as a AA bench player. Wtf!Comment
