So I was scouting the free agents last night and was thinking of doing some like non roster invites during spring training. Thinking worst case scenario they can provide depth at AAA Oklahoma with pitchers like Doug Davis and Armando Galarraga and bats like Felix Pie, Fred Lewis and Andy LaRoche

Jonathan Singleton is STROKING the ball for me right now. In the last 6 games, he's gone 9-19 for a .437 avg with 2 HR and 4 RBIs. 20 games into the season, he's leading my team with a .338 avg (good for 9th best in the NL).

JD Martinez is hitting .274 so far in the season with 5 HRs and 7 RBIs.

Jonathan Villar, in 7 games, is batting .250.

The very sad thing is, Scott Moore is leading my team in RBIs with 8... which doesn't even put him in the top 50 in the NL.

My team can't buy runs so far this season.

if Singleton was tearing up AAA( like he supposed to dammit!), i wudda thought long and hard about promoting him but i think im give him until the trading deadline to see how he progresses....Villar has really been struggling so i demoted him to AA

I brought Singleton up after I traded Carlos Lee at the deadline of my first season... it was too early. He ended up hitting like .202 with 4 HRs and 16 RBIs in 203 ABs.

Well I just read through 16 pages of this thread and I can say that you guys have made me want to start an Astros Franchise. I was looking for a NL team, and at first was looking for a Powerhouse team but I think it might be cool to be the Astros.

I have a Blue Jays franchise that im in May in that im having a blast with right now, but Im a Cubs fan and have always loved the NL so I need me a NL team .

Yea the Astros gonna make you have to think to contend. There's a couple of position that are locked. Schafer has is safe for my center fielder. Martinez is safe for now for my left fielder. Hopefully we can receive a power hitter in a exchange for Lee. That would help Martinez in the lineup. I think I gonna convert Martinez to a first basemen after Lee is gone. That gives Singleton time to develop in the minors. Hopefully I can get a veteran left fielder in the the Wandy Rodriguez sweepstakes.

since Singleton's secondary position is LF, just leave Martinez in left....Singleton's ETA is next year anyway....plus if u trade Wandy, it'd be for a couple of prospects, not veterans

I was thinking bringing in a veteran for clubhouse leadership. Give him a few starts to keep him satisfied. Wasn't stating trade for a veteran only was referring to hopefully I will receive one in the deal as well. I looking for more speed in the outfield besides Schafer and Bogusevic.

How is Matt Downs doing for you? I use his bat in clutch situations and he come through. How is his defense? Could you see him competing for 2nd. I think I am sold on Johnson being my 3rd baseman. Just something in him I like can't really explain.

Oh yes very satisfied with Schafer. I want to add more speed to eliminate gappers and hope to reduce doubles. But Schafer speed is crazy fast. Remember I high on him. I believe Schafer is a type of player you build because the kid is that good.
