Makes sense, but I'd like to know what percentage of the total is generated versus played...

My games always had about 280-300, because I took walks and gave up walks and tend to hit from very deep counts and long ABs, so I'm curious...

    If that makes sense?

Will we be able to see the current at-bat's pitch history so we can know how the pitcher got to a quick count of 1-2 for example? So we can see how the batter is being set up (if it matters with quick counts) before we make any user controlled pitches?

Really depends what type of hitter you are. A person who is a free swinger probably would have a higher generated to actual played percentage as opposed to someone works the system and would be able to see more played pitches. Obviously some of the counts are going to put you in swing mode right away but I am sure the system has checks and balances to keep the game somewhat on track. My overall feeling though is we are going to see much higher pitch counts then what we would see when playing normally.

This is just my own opinion but I don't think it matters. If you really did not experience those pitches you just have to be in the moment with the system. Also the biggest thing I would think is you have to be mindful of the count and not take your usual approach of maybe taking a pitch without realizing you got 2 strikes on you.

The reason I ask if it matters is because Russell said this:

The bolded part is what made me think that maybe the CPU batters will be set up for certain pitches if they come into a certain count in which we can see that pitch history. I was just wondering how much AI was built into the setting up of pitches strategy.

Re: What are your expectations for Generated Counts

I'd hope and assume the pitcher and batter logic would be weighted to pay more attention to the "real" data from you, instead of the generated data. It wouldn't really make sense to start in an 0-2 count. Imagine you are a great fastball hitter, and consistently show it throughout the innings.

Now in the 7th inning you have whoever at the plate, and you're "generated" an 1-2 count. You look in your pitch history and see that those first 2 generated strikes are both fastballs.

Based on the data, the CPU got you to miss 2 straight fastballs and would normally be likely to throw another, but that wouldn't make any sense, would it? There is surely some sort of extra thing in there to make the CPU stop and go wait a minute, what has the human user actually done here?

Otherwise, the pitching AI would be doing all sorts of weird things.

Wow...so I guess I better raise pitcher stamina...

I've had games where pitchers are at 100 pitches through 5 innings now (without them necessarily getting killed - just a lot of deep counts and some walks/foul balls, etc). If that's going to be HIGHER...these guys won't even get out of the 4th...

You can put your canned food and back-up generator away, Russell already saved the day.

So how is it going to work - if a guy has 100 pitches in 5 innings is he still going to be pretty fresh, pretty tired, etc?

Will a pitcher start falling behind more in the generate count or is it only going to impact the pitches you play out after?

Well, except for the part that this is negates their need to fix the pitch counts in the first place. The idea that THIS will generate more walks is the problem.

I don't care if it takes me until 2016 to get through a season.

There's something special about being able to look at the season stats for your team, and knowing that you as the user are 100% responsible for every stat you see.

Not that I'm anti- GPC... I definitely love having the option, and if anything, this opens up the door for me to have a second franchise running where I'm focusing more on drafting and GM stuff, and only playing a few games here and there.

It's a shame this option isn't available in RTTS though. THat's the place I was really wanting to use it.

No and it doesn't matter because the cpu doesn't know how the count came to be either. Your both in the dark per-say but it really doesn't matter here. Hence the different set of logic for the mode.
