I have the same problem but I remember last year's game was the same for me until I got to the offseason and got better COACHES! I had forgotten that this year, I don't know if there are any good teams with coaches but I know the Twins suck which is hurting my team. On my 2nd season with '10 I got all new coaches and won the world series because of it..

Two questions for you, are you using zone hitting? Are you using guess pitch?

To anyone with more knowledge then myself, what would be the biggest drawback to lowering the foul ball frequency? I ask because the CPU seems to foul off everything when down in the count which is killing my strikeout totals as they end up putting it in play weakly eventually instead of striking out. I dont want to lower contact so this is the only thing I can think of that might help, any ideas?

same issue here. Opponent pitchers during the course of a game average about 9 strikeouts against me per game. I'm averaging 5 total counting relief and a big part of it is the foul ball frequency.

I'm still getting great results with Solid Hits at 2, so I won't make the change yet.

            After a couple of high-scoring games I just finished a 12-inning thriller.
I was the Brewers at home against the Nats.

The score was 1-1 after 8 innings.
Ankiel hit a solo HR in the top of the 9th to give the Nats the lead, but I tied the game on a bases loaded walk.
They took the lead again in the 12th on another solo HR, this time from Stairs.

The bottom of the 12th looked like this:
            Walk on a 3-2 pitch.
            Steal of 2nd.
            Walk on a 3-2 pitch.
Sac bunt. (runners on 2nd and 3rd, 1 out)
            Int. walk.

Bases loaded, 1 out, down by 1. Prince was up next and hit a hard ground ball up the middle which hit the pitcher's foot and bounced away. The tying run scored and Fielder was credited with an infield single.
Braun then hit a deep fly ball to center to win the game, 4-3.

I'm having a ton of fun with these sliders.
And I use Zone hitting without moving the left stick at all.

              It's now set at 3

Lowering it from default produces more choppers, bloops, slow rollers, etc.

I agree. Everything else is spot on for me except CPU K's. Their hitter eye is too sharp (laying off a pitch on the black with two strikes) or they foul off the pitch. Very hard to get the K also don't believe I have ever caught the CPU looking. I'm lucky to get 5 K's in a game.

Well I've mentioned it atleast twice and gotten zero feedback from either Psycho or TNK so I'm left to assume they aren't seeing this as a problem. If you figure something out then let me know as its becoming a major annoyance at the moment.

The biggest problem I see probably has nothing to do with these sliders. The CPU batter eye is just too sharp. I can set up the CPU with a pitch sequence, they just will not take the bait down in the count. I don't remember the CPU being so difficult to K in years past. Anyone else notice this?

Just out of curiosity has anyone tried these using timing for hitting?
I've been having a miserable time with zone (thought I had it all figured out. Nope.) and was curious as to what anyone who has tried timing has seen.
I tried timing last night using default sliders and had a much more enjoyable time at the plate.

Numerous people have, including myself, and they are brutal for timing. I would imagine you could use everything except the human hitting sliders from this set and leave those at default while tweaking as you see fit and still get good results however.

Guys, like anything else, strikeouts come in bunches.

I use classic pitching, on AS, with sliders slightly harder than this.

Through in the neighborhood of my last 20-30 games, I've struck out 10+ with my starter twice, and 9 twice.

The reason I'm posting, is because I just went through a 10 game stretch where I was lucky to see 3 with my starter. Obviously, a stark difference. I was to the point where I literally was so frustrated, that I went to check my setting to make sure stuff hadn't changed.

                          They hadn't.

Low and behold, two games later, I strike out 10 through 7 innings with Sabathia, and now all is well.

Keep the faith. If you mix speeds and set hitters up, it will all turn around, and in bunches.

Pitch history is key, especially the second and third time through the order.

Now, if I can go 10 games with only a few K's, who's to say the next stretch/drought won't last twice as long? Especially if I accrue some cold symbols.

All I can say is, hang in there and good things are bound to happen. I've seen it first hand.

I am using zone and guess pitch is off. I work the count too. Averaging at least 3 a game. I'll give it a few more games.

I can see your point. But, it is not often that a team's rotation pitch in "bunches" like that. Starter A might get 4 strike outs in one game then Starter B might get 8 or nine the next. Some pitchers pitch to contact and some try to overpower. I would assume that it should vary game to game not have three starters have 5 strike outs in a row then the next time around the rotation all have 8-9.

I don't see the variation is I guess what I am trying to poorly say. All my starters have low K rates. Much lower than in prior years and lower than their real life rates.

Don't take this as a DB response.....but you need to pitch better. I don't have a problem with K's by the CPU. You need to set guys up, sometimes throw him 3 straight changeups then come back with heat. Don't pitch in patterns like fastball, changeup, curve, fastball. Focus on jamming guys inside one inning and then go outside the next time he is up. IT'S ALL ABOUT PITCHING BETTER AND SMARTER, YOU NEED TO FOOL THE CPU
