    Chef,

Don't hesitate in the slightest. I like your slider changes. Based on your stats (and sample size!!! Good man! LOL!), you NEED to stick with those changes. No question. Or at the very least, drop down to Vet. I think what you're doing on AS is the better option, fwiw.

You also may need to increase your contact swing usage. I literally use it like 30-40 percent of the time.

You may also want to consider HOF pitching. Unless you want to try the Classic interface on AS. You have too much control/consistency...this is why your H/9 look good, and your BB/9 look bad. And that's not a good feeling.

If you want Classic help, PM me. Otherwise, move to HOF. You won't regret it...stud!

I'm not sure if this is just a fluke but I gave timing only a try again and had some really good results. Now this is the first time I tried it after the patch so maybe the patch tweaked it a bit? I'll play a few more games and see how it goes. I also switched to classic pitching on all-star, a bit more of a challenge.

I can't help but wonder why you would turn solid hits DOWN. According to the description, turning it up decreases the frequency of cheap outs like weak pop ups and slow rollers. I turned it up before and saw the difference.

I just played a game using these sliders though. I only scored two runs on six hits. One was a homer, the other scored on a wild pitch. The other five hits I had were cheap singles. I still struck out eight times. I know I can't judge based on one game, but it doesn't look good for me so far.

Like many others on this forum, I am getting increasingly frustrated with this game. I've been messing around with the sliders for a month span in my season and can't get good, consistent results. I even went down to veteran hitting and I still can't hit.

I just don't understand it. This is my first time playing the Show for PS3. The last version of the Show I bought was '09 for PS2. I loved that game for the most part. My team batting average was consistently in the low .300s and I had no problem with it because I rarely ever walked. I figured all the extra hits (mostly singles) I had made up for the lack of walks. My power numbers were normal as well. I NEVER had to tweak the sliders in that game. Now I get this game for the first time and I can't find any way to replicate my play for the PS2 game.

He turned it down because at 5 or up all u see are line drives and homers. For me using Analog hitting though I have it at 4 because even at 3 i keep popping up grounders or fly balls and getting a "Just Misssed/ Perfect timing but ball is dead center of PCI calls."

However even at 4 if I guess a pitch correctly its almost always a hit. I lowered power to 3 because I keep hitting way too many HRs a game right over the wall.

so now i am using it at 4 and turning off guess pitch.

Line drives are what you want in baseball. Except you want them to shoot over infielders' head and to the gaps or down the line. In this game you get them right at the defenders every single time and there's no way to fix it. It's ridiculous.

I just played another game using Timing only hitting and classic pitching on All star. I ended up with 4 runs on 13 hits and 0 were home runs. I had very good hit variety and scored all my runs via single, doubles, and sacrifice hits. Tommy Hanson was on that day only allowing 3 hits in 6 innings, striking out 5 and walking 1. Oh and I forgot to mention that I was up against Strasburg. I'm not sure if the change with solid hits made the difference or if the patch tweaked timing only hitting a bit. I've played a couple of games so this is not just a one game occurrence so give it a try again and see how your results are.

                  Same sliders? Just timing hitting?

Yup same sliders with the only difference being throw strength and base runner speed up by one. Just played another game where I lost 8-5, ended up getting 9 hits that game. Finally hit a homer with Uggla but the rest were generated by singles, walks, and extra base hits.

I think Im going to move to HoF pitching, its a tough move though as I tend to write off my exceptional ERA to having the 2nd best pitching staff according to the ratings. It is true though, I pitch to contact a ton and use the API and just run with whatever they call for to be honest, its been a rather brain dead approach in all honesty so maybe moving this to HoF will provide a nice challenge.

As for my Contact 5/Power 5/Timing 6 changes, Im going to have to keep a really close eye on this as increasing power increases extra base hits and while I wanted that to happen I also dont want it to become completely overblown. The actual Dodgers only have 22 HR's in 32 games so its not as if they are a power hitting team in real life either, in fact they average a HR every 0.69 games and I average a HR every 0.58 games so Im close to where they are in real life there but an increase in doubles would be nice atleast.

EDIT- The more I compare my stats to the actual Dodgers the more I just think my team sucks. My power sucks but so do they, my doubles per game are almost identical, the biggest difference is I probably dont walk at quite the same rate and they are averaging 8.66 Hits per game while Im averaging 7.42 Hits per game. If I could get an extra hit here or there then I would almost be spot on, which really shows how bad this teams offense is I guess.

Wow, ok so I put together the key offensive stats to compare and maybe Im just tired of playing with a **** offense because my numbers compare pretty well to the real Dodgers this season...

First # is My Team and second # is actual Dodgers team in real life
                      Runs (3.08 vs. 3.69)
                      Hits (7.42 vs. 8.66)
                      Doubles (1.46 vs. 1.53)
                      Triples (0.67 vs. 0.16)
                      Homeruns (0.58 vs. 0.69)
                      RBI's (3.00 vs. 3.41)
                      Stolen Bases (0.38 vs. 0.69)
                      Walks Drawn (2.83 vs. 2.69)
                      Strikeouts (7.46 vs. 7.38)
Extra Base Hits (2.71 vs. 2.38)

Obviously those are all per gamer averages but Im fairly close on everything. Having said that, I've hit 14 homeruns but a few of those were with power at 5 before the change and 1 was after I raised it last game so with at 4 I probably hit around 9 homeruns in 18-20 games. The most interesting stat is that Im actually getting extra base hits at a clip better then the real Dodgers, not to mention that Im walking more which was a surprise as I figured they would be walking more. I will probably run with the 5/5/6 that I mentioned and see how it plays out but Im starting to think that it might be more my team then my own skills.

See I play with the Yanks and mostly at home as I only do exhibition games. I have hit so far now that i went back down to SH at 3 and timing hitting I avg leke 4 HRs a game. Maybe I should try HOF as well as I also keep pitching great games with burnett, cc, and hughes with my ball vs strike ratio at like 14 balls a game and 78 strikes. 1st pitch strike for me are way high as well.

I've played about five games using these sliders and I really like them. I think I may need to take power down one more notch. After hitting 1 homerun a game in my first two games using these sliders, I had a 3 homerun game from Jason Heyward in exhibition mode...and 7 or 8 homeruns in my first two regular season games...I use analog everything and haven't used "Power Swing" at all...the good thing is my homeruns are coming from pretty solid hitters(Chipper Jones, Jason Heyward, Nate McClouth, Dan Uggla, and Martin Prado).

I'm able to draw walks but my team has struck out 20 times...10 times in each regular season(really my fault, however).

When it comes to pitching, I just can't seem to strike out many batters. I have walked quite a few though.

                          Pretty nice set of sliders.

OK, I've played now 5 games yesterday and last night on HOF mode with the exact sliders from the first page and not using the analog stick. I think HOF is the only way to go and after trying to use the analog stick for now 2 months, I think I'm done with it. I have seen so much improvement in the hit variety with just using the buttons (square on 2-0 counts, X with 1 strike, and O with 2 strikes). My question is what is the difference on having the setting set on zone and not using the analog or just setting it to timing hitting, not that it's a big deal and how do you guys hit with pitch speed at 4? I think I will be moving it down to 0 or 1. I have been using it at 1 on All-Star and still am late sometimes.

I don't think that sliders are ever going to have the desired effect on walks per game that anyone is looking for. The CPU throws balls, but people just chase them so they strike out or hit weak balls. Play a game and for 1 inning don't swing at all, then next inning play normal, and then next inning don't swing, etc. The CPU will walk a good amount of batters.

As for the pitching, good major league pitchers throw pitches that start in the zone, but end outside the zone, but I really believe people don't do this. I think they put the cursor so the ball always ends in the zone and unless you want a slider that brings in complete randomness then you just have to deal with this as an individual and pitch like a real pitcher. Yes there are situations where a real pitcher will miss a pitch, but when all you are doing is ending the pitch in the strikezone, if course you won't walk anybody.

I have played many games with these sliders and have found that they play with just the right amount of control for the pitchers. If I am on with my pitching (I use analog) then I can dominate, even with 4-5 starters, as per real ife, but when I am off......look out ERA!!

I have not moved SH to 3 yet, but I am hoping that it will give me some more extra base hits as I either hit homeruns or singles.

With hitting set on zone if you don't move the stick the PCI will always be in the same place, no matter where the pitch is.
With timing the PCI will move based on your timing and the players' ratings and also where the pitch is.
