Re: Classic Pitching Questions and Discussion

My two teams are gonna be the Angels (good arms, not so good bats) and the Diamondbacks (better bats, lack power on the mound). This shall even out the two differences over time, giving our stats balance.
As for the stats, I feel this is where everyone is getting confused. Heroes posted this good overlay of 'IP, R, H, 2B, HR, BB, K...Fouls, Misses, Strike Percentage'. I feel we should stick by this, here's an example.

      Braves vs Diamondbacks
      9 IP, 6 R, 10 H, 3 2B, 1 HR, 3 BB, 9 SO. 13 fouls, 9 swings-and-misses, 76% strikes.

Let me know what you guys think!

I'll do two teams also. I'm thinking NYY and COL (not positive on COL).

I'm on an iTouch, so I can't AIM.

I'll be on for a while though. Post your questions here if you want.

I'm also on my mobile, so AIM is a no-go. Other slider pages have much more chaos going on that ours, so we should be good.

Also, I feel it'll be easier to keep track of stats and compare if we all do the same way, so we should pick one team and then pick a random game per day to start. My team will be the Diamondbacks.

Two teams is a better way.

            You had it right.

Let's do two teams each. I'm still thinking on my second. Any suggestions?

Well, if you're having NYY be one of your teams, you're going to need a less-dominant team, both hitting and on the rubber.
The Marlins wouldn't be bad for you, or would the Astros/Pirates/Padres.

Sounds good. I'll do the two team method as well. Since we have 3 guys on the project I'll just do it a tad different and start my season on May 1st.

I'll role with Colorado and Kansas City.

Hero, could you clarify what you meant that I should bat and not just pitch?

                  Ha!

I haven't heard anyone call NYY pitching staff dominate in a while! LOL! I hear you though. They are rated pretty high.

FLA is a great idea. I get the stud...and uh, the rest.

                  NYY and FLA it is.

                    I figure:

Best case, we need to do no additional tweaking, and you'll want to continue your franchise the rest of the way. Again, best case.

Can you imagine; all your stats being money, only having to start over because you never hit?

I see what you mean, though. Pitching only could speed things up. I just personally don't want to risk it.

Whichever you decide is cool with me.

I'll take either the DBacks/Padres and the Angels/Jays. Got some scouting to do, will make some decisions.
Also, is everyone clear on what stats we should be looking for? Was my example clear or was it not what we wanted? Anyone?

That was made up within the domepiece. Now, that's as a whole, correct? Starters, relievers, closers, postions players (joking), etc?
Have decided to the Diamondbacks and Tigers for my two teams. Felt like the Tigers are more all-around and the Diamondbacks lack in most positions.
I believe, fellas, its time to get started. I'll update in sets of four-five, probably. Two games per team.

Yes. Post them for all pitchers in one line. You can even include the celebratory first pitch...

Hint: If it's President Obama, it's not gonna be a strike.

Again, if you have something special to share (good performance, bad performance, good performance ruined by your bullpen, big K's, etc), feel free to share your starter's line. Let's just make sure to always include the end game totals.

After every 4-6 games, we can add up our own personal averages and compare. Does this make sense.

Unfortunately, again, I MAY not even be able to get one game in tonight. But I want to. So, if it's possible, I'll sacrafice an hour of sleep to get the ball rolling.

Other than Latos and Peavey, their really aren't any aces on those teams.

Sure you don't want to swap one of them out?

Maybe I just don't know those staffs very well. Do they both rank towards the bottom of the league, or is SD better than I think?
