Don't want to clog up Armor's thread with non-slider stuff, so I'll keep it short. It's common knowledge real contract values have a negative impact on trade logic and budgets, plus they make team budgets way too confusing to calculate. I'd rather not deal with it.Comment

Re: Armor & Sword & Marino’s MLB The Show 19 Classic/Directional Simulation Sliders
Loving the 1.5 update with the baserunner speed and OF arm strength.
I have to share a small change I've made to my game lately that has made an incredible difference. It all comes down to one thing which I feel like we talk about a lot, I know I have. But that is plate discipline.
I have taken it to the next level, you could say to an extreme, in what I'm choosing to swing at, and it has made a difference like you wouldn't believe. You have to be absolutely committed to not chasing anything outside of your pitch. You have to be willing to strike out and to strike out looking more than you probably have been. But that does not necessarily mean you will strikeout more, you just have to be prepared to, that's the mentality you have to have at the plate.
I'm still seeing super realistic results and box scores so it isn't affecting that. However, when you adopt this extreme patience approach, you will get more pitches to hit since the CPU knows you won't chase anything you don't have to, and you have to be ready for them and do damage when they come.
I've been walking at least 3, sometimes up to 7 or 8 times in a game since I really hammered down on my plate discipline. Sometimes the approach changes with the batter. For example, if Gardner is up vs. a lefty, I will almost exclusively take, and contact swing to foul off with 2 strikes, until I get a walk. He isn't really good vs. lefties, so why not? And it's still possible to get hits. Last game I hit a 2 run shot to right with him at Fenway off of Price.
Kind of rambling now, so I'll stop, but hope everyone understands what I'm trying to say.
Moral of the story: If you are struggling at the plate or want to draw more walks, try adopting the most extreme "swing-at-nothing" plate discipline approach that you can. It will pay off!Comment

Re: Armor & Sword & Marino’s MLB The Show 19 Classic/Directional Simulation Sliders
For example, look at my first inning against Glasnow of the Rays right after I posted that:
Gardner works a full count, line drive base hit up the middle on a contact swing. Judge follows with a full count double in the right-center gap (contact swing). Gardner was running on the pitch, so he scored from first. 14 pitches, 2 batters, 1 run, no outs.
Hicks gets down 0-2 before working back to 2-2 and gets plunked. Stanton strikes out looking in a 5 pitch at-bat on a pitch down and in, which I'll take since there's a good chance he could've grounded into a double play. Sanchez pops out to the shortstop in very shallow left-center on a 2 strike fastball up in the zone. I don't use contact swing in a DP situation, so couldn't do anything about that. He made a good pitch and earned the out. Andujar follows with a 3-pitch strikeout swinging. 2 outs, so I'm using contact swing, and yes, I chased a slider just outside the zone and low. But IMO, that's too close to take with 2 outs and 2 strikes. Happens.
32 pitches for Glasnow. 1 run, 2 hits, an HBP, and 2 strikeouts.
There were multiple pitches in that inning, to Sanchez and to Andujar, that were essentially down the middle and could have taken the inning a whole other direction, that I just missed, but that's baseball.
To my point, adopting the most patient approach that you can is really the key to unlocking the full potential of this game, and maxing out how fun it is, IMO.Comment

Hey Armor, just a thought but you might also want to include the link to gamerecapper in the OP as well.

Had to comment that THIS is the type of thread that keeps me at OS. You guys and gals really improve my experience.
Just combing over the last few pages, littered with tremendous tips to hitting/pitching.
A huge thank you, and this is my safe space lol. That front page is a disaster here.Twitch: Goblue81188Comment

Re: Armor & Sword & Marino’s MLB The Show 19 Classic/Directional Simulation Sliders
I have not gotten to that point yet in my franchise.
But I plan on handling them and using a random number generator for their top 5 MLB players.
So for example let's say on my Yankees I have my top 5 guys:
Judge
Turner
Torres
Bird
Severino
And all of them are eligible for free agency. I will generate a random number and use the following scale:
1-25 - they test free agency
26-100 - They resign.
So a 25/75 % scale.
Does anyone know if you can extend arbitration eligible players? Or only do in season extensions for pending free agents?
I would do this for every team (as I use 30 team control).
Also when OSFM drops and when I decide to do a new franchise this summer, I am going with budgets off and creating my own budget universe for all 30 teams and handle free agency and resigns for all the teams. I don't like what I am hearing in terms of budget issues down the line with real life contracts. Now Playing on PS5:

I will attempt to resign 26/100 but if they reject they will hit free agency.
