    Judge
    Turner
    Torres
    Bird
    Severino

And all of them are eligible for free agency. I will generate a random number and use the following scale:

1-25 - they test free agency

    26-100 - They resign.

    So a 25/75 % scale.

Does anyone know if you can extend arbitration eligible players? Or only do in season extensions for pending free agents?

I would do this for every team (as I use 30 team control).

Also when OSFM drops and when I decide to do a new franchise this summer, I am going with budgets off and creating my own budget universe for all 30 teams and handle free agency and resigns for all the teams. I don't like what I am hearing in terms of budget issues down the line with real life contracts.
So is consensus budgets are to messed up? Just leave off?

Seems that way mate. I do t think I’ve seen anyone advocating to leave them on.

Good to know in advance of OSFM dropping later this week!

So are you going to use real life contract numbers? I probably will. Cause right now the Brewers can sign Keuchel for 5 years at $45M. No way he will accept $7M a year or he would have signed already.

Maybe I am slightly confused and if I am wrong please correct me but shouldn’t the logic be the other way around? Usually when a player hits his contract year they normally test free agency so I was thinking maybe the scale should be reversed?

If you were simulating real life this would mean that you have attempted to negotiate contracts in prior years during arbitration but couldn’t come to an agreement before the contract year. I feel like most of the players in this situation would test free agency

Can't wait for OSFM and good to know about the budget problem since I hadn't heard of this before. I pretty much only stay in this thread, especially in the weeks and months following release.

The odds of my top five players all leaving are slim. With this random number method it could happen. But most likely I will have 1-3 test feee agency on average.

Again I do this with my top free agents and the rest I decide on my own if want to resign or let them walk.

Streaming Yankees year 3 vs The Tigers in 5 minutes.

Yankees 0-3 out of the gate. Harper on the shelf for 2 months.

So what is everyone doing about the salaries? I’m thinking about doing what Armor is going to do with the free agents. But are you guys going to give the player what they are asking for or are we going to pay them real life numbers? It would be interesting what they have Harper asking for in this game.

I'm in the off season of my 18 carryover, and haven't had a problem with budgets for any team. I'm at the end of November. I actually still have roughly $3M still I can spend. The way I play though, I don't try and get every top name player on the market. I know who and what I can basically go and get with my team. I think the budget system is really simple. In the main forum, I think some guys try and over think it. I don't play with real life contracts because the game isn't set up that way and I'm fine with it. I'm certain though my OSFM roster from 18 had correct years. Either way, it works for me. Contracts are real/comparable as far as ratings around the league. Harper signed a 7yr $289M. Is it 13/330, no, but it's still a large contract. Machado, 10/$310M, close, exact, no, but again a top contract.

Another thing to consider since there are two times that contract extensions are allowed which is spring training and before trade deadline. I am considering doing maybe the 1-25 and 26-100 for the spring training part. And then maybe the trade deadline maybe do 50-50? Since I think more players resign during spring training. Or should I reverse them?

I am with you.....I really think it is being over thought. I will use budgets on like always have. But I will handle in season extensions for all 30 teams (CPU does not do them).

Here is the guide i have been following for off-season since I started playing MLBTS. I have had zero issues with budgets, monies, and signing players I needed. A lot of this is known stuff, but maybe it will help some that don't.

Sorry Armor, not trying to fill your slider thread with non slider items. Your thread is the only one (well one of few) that can hold intelligent conversations.
